cannot repoduce and missing track file SnowPlow Mode
GrEaSeLiTeNiN replied to N0L3R's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Chuck's manual - "In snowplow mode, the TGP line of sight is commanded straight ahead and angled downwards to point to the ground ahead at half of the currently selected FCR (Fire Control Radar) scale (for example, if selected FCR scale is 40 nm, the TGP will look at the point on the ground 20 nm ahead)." Was your FCR scale set high? -
I have both but honestly, I find the F16's hotas workflow far more intuitive and fluid. The F15's hotas functions are like "let's put this here, oh wait how about over here for the pilot and over there for the WSO".

Old thread... but just wanted to say I think it is this way even with realistic TDC slew option unchecked because the AG radar has two 'cursors' that could coexist - one is the yellow "I I" (no TDC depress needed) and the other is the green crosshairs/polygon for EXPs (requires TDC depress to move and release to render). Seems the option to uncheck realistic TDC was really only for the MAV wpn page which is kind of pointless because we would still need to depress TDC for the 'green cursor' in AG radar, regardless. If you solved the latter (with a separate TDC depress button mapped), you wouldn't actually need the special slew option for the MAV wpn page. Perhaps they could have been clearer about the limitations of the slew option.

Added cpg ai target store command in last patch
GrEaSeLiTeNiN replied to giullep's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Did some testing. It is basically just a single command to map to a hotas button for the pilot only. But you (as pilot) use that command when the George command rose is active because Geroge will store the target that you pick in his targets detection list with a press of that button. He can store the target where your pointer ">" is at in the list before or after you select the target. The stored targets (in red) can be seen in the MFD for TSD/COORD SHOW/PLANNED TGTS/THREATS. -
missing evidence for ofp 4.2 Strafe Selectable by HOTAS
GrEaSeLiTeNiN replied to afbl's topic in Wish List
Yeah uncage (long) does it in that other similar bird. Is it specific to only certain F-16s? -
Are we getting another pod (litening?) later on? I hope so.
-
Yeah it can get washed out in the sun as can be seen also in some video tutorials. Might be ‘realistic’ but in sim life, as you noted, we can’t cup our hand over it. Can’t hurt to have the option to make it a tad brighter.

After yesterday's update, on TGP control, this is what I have observed: PILOT: Auto Acq Depress -> Toggle Track 'Box' (that rectangle around the words ATRK or PTRK) PSB 10 required to change between ATRK and PTRK (cannot be done through hotas?) WSO: TDC Depress -> Activates Track Box and toggles ATRK/PTRK inside Box Move crosshairs to Untrack (remove Box) Auto Acq Depress -> Nothing Trigger HA -> Nothing

Not using PTRK and CDES for movers but moving the tpod crosshairs to track a mover manually would be ok if you had a human WSO or AI pilot. Might be tricky if flying solo. As far as the DCS sim world is concerned, am I right to understand that when the CDES and PTRK are fixed, or when we get the litening pod (are we?), these issues would be gone?

Have you tried Foothold Syria/Caucasus? There are instructions to enable persistence. There are also extended versions of Foothold.

Precisely. We can give feedback, let them decide.

Did you try "reset category to default" to the right of the "foldable view" button? Or do a DCS repair?

I think you were generally low (below 4k ft radar alt) and did not have enough lead at pickle, so the LGB fell short in both cases. You actually hit the vehicle behind the target in the 2nd track and weren't far behind the target in the 1st track. I tried the tracks and managed to hit the targets occasionally. The faster trucks were more difficult. I think CDES certainly helps in that you can reshift the PTRK to the target near TREL to get the latest designate diamond/bomb fall line before pickle. Without it, I lose PTRK every time I redesignate. Not sure if that is by design. You can also try a higher alt so there's more time for the process and for the LGB to maneuver.

There is no persistence built into RotorOps. Yeah, I think you need to edit the missionscripting file, just like how that has to be done for other 'persistence' user made missions out there.

Would be nice if the UFC and HUD were brighter at max setting

Hey, thanks for the tip. Did more testing and watched the TF radar alt. So alt hold setting does work. But my throttle had to be near mil power (full loadout in my test). Sometimes without adjusting the throttle, the aircraft could still reach the new lower or higher alt setting. If not, I just had to nudge the throttle in the corresponding direction - less to descend, more to climb - basically to 'shake' it out of its current hold, and then set it back to near mil power.

There is no need to steer the laser onto the moving target as PTRK tracks the moving target and the laser follows the PTRK. As the LGB can make corrections in flight, designating the moving target instead of ahead of it still allows the LGB to hit the target even after the designating diamond (and thus bomb fall line) falls behind the target. (Unless the target is moving so fast that the LGB needs some lead.) The update fix to the CDES will cause the designation diamond to follow the PTRK which means your bomb fall line is moving along until pickle. At least that’s my understanding.

Asking for advice on where to start and good tutorial
GrEaSeLiTeNiN replied to Terzi's topic in DCS: AH-64D
The Apache was my first DCS helo. I did not go by the read-the-manual approach. I basically: 1a. Watched DCS Apache YouTube tutorials, compiled here. 1b. Watched real world helo educational videos, compiled here. They were interesting and helped me understand concepts like VRS, mast bumping, swash plate movement, etc. You can skip this if already familiar. 2. Mapped my hotas for pilot and CPG on the fly in a custom target rich mission, to see what each command did. 3. For more details/clarification, I word searched Chuck's PDF manual using keywords of topics that needed clarification, or asked questions in this forum. (You can word search the forums here as many questions and issues you may have would probably have been discussed and answered.) Have fun! -
+1 Same, inconsistent results with altitude hold/select modes. Also, it seems it doesn't let you drop altitude if you key in a lower altitude setting, from say a current alt hold setting of 1500 to 1000 ft radar, but the reverse (going higher) will work though sometimes it won’t. (Does not work when Alt warning or Master Caution is on, understandably.)

Thrusmaster Warthog TDC Issue
GrEaSeLiTeNiN replied to KSA Death Force's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I tried the before-upgrade stock slew on the warthog throttle and adjusted the axes curves for TDC but it was basically useless. -
+1 TDC slew sensitivity also reported here
