  1. Sounds like a scheduler issuer. Try setting Win10 processor priority to programs and maybe check the the cpu affinity of DCS program.
  2. IBM XT with Fligh Simulator 2.0
  3. Talking about the F-16 release in the Apache's EA topic is bad omen! It was so bad in so many ways. From the day it was launched, (and cashed upon), it's development was halted and the product itself delayed for...until the other product was finished, whenever it should be. Not what one would expect of a EA product, is it, specially not what one would expect when it was explicit said that there would be 2 separate team working on both projects? The critics were all quickly censored and given warning points. All the ingredients for a perfect storm. Criticism will always exist, specially for a EA product. The F-16 was an aberration. For the smarties, instead of making jokes, they should instead focus their wits to steer and incentivize the criticism towards constructive criticism. The jokes, the irony, the sarcasm and the ego are roots of the toxicity in this community.
  4. I hope you're not preparing the ground.
  5. If your machine is connected to a public network, for example the internet, you shouldn't disable it. It makes it so much easier for hackers to cause damage to your system or your finances.
  6. This got me thinking, would it be possible somehow, DCS bios, modding, or..., to have a dynamic view distance based on the altitude? That would at least partially solve the problem.
  7. If you don't care about your fps, you're possibly not utilizing all the capacity in your hardware. From an end-user perspective, like it or not, but it's essential that you maximize your performance specially when running older gen hardware. Fps is common unit that allows end-users to compare apples and oranges and make right decisions. Wise words, thank you.
  8. Sure, 45fps you're doing well, but with the most powerful hardware money can buy, the software definitely is not. Or perhaps DCS developement is aiming for a 45fps VR experience. Half the capacity of modern headsets, but if people are not getting sick and can push max graphics, I guess I'm wrong.
  9. Am I wrong to say that with your specs, surprising is that you don't get 90fps?
  10. It depends on what you can playable of course. Syria map, on a F-16, 30fps at bare minimum graphics on an old Rift, with barely readable cockpit and with limited amounts of AI entities, for me it becomes very quickly an unacceptable compromise. Some people can get past the low fps VR sickness and/or the blandness of the graphics, I mostly can't, at least not for too long.
  11. That's the thing. We're in 2022 and the 2070 or my 1070ti for that matter, are both obsolete and our R5 3600 is a budget entry level, older generation cpu for today's standards. The gaming industry kept moving forward while those of us not sitting on gold mines were left behind in terms of hardware. Don't expect to be able to run smoothly a 2022 non-optimized dcs module with 2018 mid-low hardware. On my side, I'm buying it, but I don't expect to be able to run it until at least 2023, when I hope to be able to purchase some used hardware on ebay. Vulkan will certainly help, but will it save the day with "inclusivity"? I don't think so.
  12. The topics I'm most interested in for `22. Vulkan and VR performance improvements Apache and F-15E AI Improvements DCS Combined arms overhaul Electronic warfare module Dynamic campaign Whole World map module Map modding
  13. We need proper wipers simulation!
  14. It looks straight out of Janes F-15E! Pair that with Longbow 2 DCS Apache and we're 20 years younger.
  15. Fair is the amount of optimizations that need to be made for DCS helicopters. That includes as I already suggested, higher res (heightmap)/ smaller maps made purposefully for helicopter simulation, but also AI improvements, combined arms revival and a different, more focused usage of resources. There is an enormous difference between fighting from 15.000ft and 15ft and it goes far beyond only graphics.
  16. 600£+ for a used board that used to cost 500£ three years ago is madness, desperation! I remember very well back in 2018 when, after countless failed bids on ebay, I finally paid 132£ for my 1070TI, and the 1080ti was selling for about 500£
  17. What you talking about mate, I'm totally with you, not only I want a fully simulated defog system, but also, a fully simulated ray traced sun refraction off spattered insects. We are all for it ! I even took a year off so I can enlist to a virtual dcs apache milsim squad and am ready for our meet-ups at the local rpg store so we can brag about our rtfm prowess
  18. I would like to have realistic splattered insects on the windscreen, rotor blades and tads/pnvs; is that asking too much?
  19. I'd expect some kind of easy mode, but which is something related to controls and keybindings and not like Arma's flight model's game mode.
  20. There is no easy way out. Even when/if Vulkan comes, it won't lower the hardware requirements. It will only make better use of hardware, primary the most actual of its time of release. On the other hand, like any DCS module, its something that's meant to last for years, so even if you can't afford it right now, eventually you'll catch up. What're your specs btw?
  21. Nitpicking at its extreme! Better to have big readable fonts for VR than not.
  22. Not that its on my wishlist, but I bet there will be an official AH-6. Think about it, all of a sudden, mod project was halt and went completely silent. I saw that many times while modding Assetto Corsa cars and oops, they would soon enough pop up again in official DLCs.
