Hey folks, I just tried flying a mission I made ages ago with the CVN77 mod in, and I cannot even open the mission in the editor anymore. I flew that same mission still about 9 months ago with no problems. I figured I need to update the mod, but that thread seems to have been deleted. Does this mean I have to throw this mission into the bin, because if I can't even open it, I can't exactly delete the carrier either? Best regards, Mud

Experienced BF-109 pilots - help needed - right roll level flight
Mud replied to Mud's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Thanks for the input, ppl. I really appreciate it. I have no trimming set at all apart from nose down. As pitch is the only trim you have in the pit anyway. But I sure as hell have to either apply left rudder or left stick to fly level, no matter what regime I fly. Not that I find that in itself a problem as long as it's realistic. What baffles me though is that some of you seem to imply you can fly hands and feet off as long as you're set at a certain engine regime. Or are we talking on different frequencies here? :) -
never mind me :) Mud

Experienced BF-109 pilots - help needed - right roll level flight
Mud replied to Mud's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Thank's for your reply, Art! Done some more testing and ended up in the same boat basically. What I did find odd though, is that on ramp and I press R-CRTL+ENTER my stick input is dead zero. As soon as I'm airborne, with stick neutral physically I get right stick input shown. So for some reason DCS is considering me putting in right stick while I'm not. -
Hey folks, I need some advice / knowledge: Unless I'm mistaken, it's a known fact that BF109 pilots had to apply left rudder often. Hence the story goes they had strong left legs. I cannot fly the plane level, no matter what manual prop pitch and ata I set. No problem really, just apply left rudder. The only problem there is that I get lactic acid in my left quads after 15 minutes. Yes I know, I need to work out :D My question however is: applying the left rudder to stop the right roll tendency moves the slip ball a bit to the right. Which would mean drift, right? Is that how the plane was flown then? Ignore the drift and use your legs to counter the roll tendency? Wouldn't it make more sense to apply some left stick input? Okay, that was more than one question. I'm pedantic when it comes to realism and I would really like to fly the plane as it was flown in real. Thanks in advance for your feedback. Best regards and happy 2018! Mud

I'm not sure yet if this is a solution or not because I have to test it more first. But I just did a two hour flight where I set the 3-way switch to the center (not bound) position after raising the gear. And it seems to be a proper workaround at least. Will report back here in case this is another dud :)
-
Update: Unfortunately the problem is still not solved. I had it yesterday after 2 hours in the air, and today 5 minutes after take-off. Back to the drawing board :noexpression:

I prefer Diveplanes. Sounds closer to I feel. :)

A little update: I'm pretty sure the problem is solved now. I'll report back here if it happens to happen again.

I just reproduced the problem: Started up the Mustang and let it run idle on the ground. After 15 minutes, the canopy starts closing and the gear comes up. Seems Flyco was indeed right when I look at the attached log. I think the culprit might be the Windows 10 EnhancedPowerManagement powering down the device to some extent, then up again which causes DCS to think it was disconnected. I changed my registry settings for the Warthog and will run another test now. Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB Mud dcs.zip

Thanks for the info, flyco. I didn't notice anything in the log that would point to that though. If I have some time, I'll slap on two wing tanks tonight and see if the same occurs in DCS 1.5

It's not bound to an axis. It's in fact bound to the autopilot 3 way path / alt switch. If none other reports the same here, I can only assume something wrong with my throttle. I should maybe fly some in 1.5 to see if I can replicate there. But like I said, I've had it after 3 minutes and then the other time after 1 hour.

Has anybody else encountered the gear lever randomly going up or down in DCS 2.2? I had it a while ago standing short of the runway while doing pre-takeoff checks. Then today I had the same thing again after being airborne for 1 hour. It's pretty frustrating, and I've checked my controller setup and nothing apart from the switch I have set up on my Warthog throttle is bound to the gear up/down toggle. So the only things I can think of is either a software glitch, or my throttle having a malfunction. Mud

** UPDATE: F-14 Flight Model - Episode I - "The Basics" **
Mud replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Awesome! Thanks for posting, Cobra! -
The latter = the last of the two items summed up.

Color banding also happens on normal monitors. As far as I know it's a limitation of the color bit depth of the sim engine.

Controling tendency to want to roll during flight?
Mud replied to DocSigma's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
No matter what ATA and RPM I set, for me the Bf109 keeps rolling to the right. Slip ball is center though at for instance ATA 1.1 and 2000rpm. -
I don't know at which update the sound was changed, but I remember it in the past to sound a lot more like this: Sound plays at around 00:40 Anyone out here who still has that start sound? Cheers! Mud

Group numbers 2, 3 and escort turning back, rather than landing.
Mud replied to Mud's topic in Mission Editor
Hey Ironhand, Thanks for the reply. You had something to offer at least: confirmation that it's not something I'm doing wrong :) I hope it'll get sorted soon. Patience is a virtue! Thanks! Mud -
The things we have to do for women! :D Seriously impressive, man. I couldn't even come up with that if I were a carpenter! Hat off to you, sir! Mud

I also voted for co-op vs AI, since it's my preferred way to fly. Unfortunately none of the members from my BMS squad are into DCS ... yet :joystick: Let alone the fact that many of them are currently busy with Elite Dangerous and ArmA 3. So I'm mostly just flying solo and building missions. Anyone lonely in the skies feel free to drop me a PM :) Mud

Hey all, I have 3x3 B-17's escorted by 4 Mustang's. The 17's are in a box formation, which is set to last waypoint 1. After this they should land at 2 different airfields. The lead 17's do what they're told, but the others and the escort turn back to the starting point (waypoint 0), then fly back to waypoint 1 and proceed with landing. I'm not sure if it's something I'm missing, or a bug. Anyone have any ideas? Mission has been attached. Br, Mud test.miz

The only drawbacks for me are the performance hit (especially in the alpha), harder to spot targets and the warmth of the rift after having it on for extended periods. I used to use the TM MFD's, but find it very easy in VR to just grab the mouse (muscle memory) and click whatever is not bound to my hotas. In fact I wish I could go back to using TiR so that I could fly BMS again. But last time I did so, it just didn't do it for me anymore. The positional 1:1 tracking and the feeling of being in the cockpit are just too good to go back.
