Thank you for the candid answer. I wish you would put the plane out in a beta, and fill in the additional content along the way, but I respect your decision to do it the way your team wants. I'll support the product either way.

One of the Dev's posted about re-scaling it already.

Quoted from another thread... The laser can overheat, but not by just being on standby. Laser ranging and laser illumination are the two things that heat up the laser (ranging happens automatically when you push the target lock button on the collective (“АВТ ЗАХВ” button. Toggles target acquisition and lock when using Shkval)). Try to do as little ranging as possible and you should be able to get at least one and a half loads of Vikhrs off (~18 missiles) before the laser starts to overheat. I sometimes have difficulties to get a target lock. That's why my SOP is to set laser to off, lock up target (as often as I need to in order to get a solid lock), then set laser to standby and lock target again (which will also update the range to target). When you range or engage a target, there's a countdown timer displayed in the HUD. Never ever range or engage anything before the timer has reached zero! If the laser does overheat, there's a 30 minute cooldown period, and I think aircraft repair doesn't affect laser cooldown. You'll know the laser stops working when you can't get an updated range indication in the Shkval. What you described as "they simply fly astray and hit the ground" is what happens with a cooked laser.

Can't Land P-51 ON rwy IN 2.0.0.49135.73
Paganus replied to chuckgrimes's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I fly the Mustang in 2.0 regularly. I just finished a mission with a landing. The landing felt perfectly normal to me. -
You can't add moving trains. They are automatically generated, and the follow a set schedule. For non-moving trains, look in "static objects" - "structure". They are named coach.

From a purely capitalist point of view; Will inclusion of the ARMAT cause any loss of sales? Not likely. Will inclusion of the ARMAT cause any increase in sales? Maybe, yes. Is the effort to get it in worth the payoff? Only RAZBAM knows.

Not all aircraft have the same kind of ECM systems. In the A-10 the ECM only runs for a few seconds when it's activated. It's purpose is immediate threats only (your locked, missile in the air, etc). While the F-15, in the sim, has a system that will help mask you from a distance, in theory allowing you to get closer than without it before the radar burns through and you are locked. Under /Mods/ and the aircraft/docs you will find a manual for each aircraft.

What to do with the Open Beta 1.5 Installation now?
Paganus replied to LeCuvier's topic in General Bugs
When you create a release install the updater will use files from your 1.5 beta and download only the changed files. So it will mean a lot less to download if you create your release install before removing the open beta 1.5. There will be more beta installs in the future. At the moment the open beta and release versions are the same, but that will change. -
A Wobbly Goblin would be great fun if the dev can get the stealth right. Without stealth it's just an under powered, under armed, un-maneuverable, missile magnet.

DCS World 2.0 Open Alpha - Update 1 Available!
Paganus replied to Zimmerdylan's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Start menu under Eagle Dynamics. If you don't have one, the program is in the /bin folder of your install. -
I wouldn't worry too much about BVR at this point. You can't count on a hit outside of 10 miles with any missile in the game currently, when against a fighter. The 530D will be a good bomber buster. Like in the 21, when dealing with fighters it is often best to carry heaters and go for the merge. All missiles in the game currently can be spoofed into the ground. Air to air and surface to air. This is in the game engine. Radar locks break a lot in the game. Countermeasures, beaming, notching, even taking an extreme AoA can do it. Sincere thanks to the team for the way you're communicating with us. Looking forward to shooting Ramsey down from my M2000C real soon. :megalol:

Click the DCS logo in the upper left corner of the forum page. Hover over the Downloads drop-down and click user files. Filter device profiles and select a module.

This was the leak. https://steamdb.info/search/?a=sub&q=dcs Since then Cobra has in fact confirmed Iwo, F4U and Viggen as well as another Pacific map. I'll let you search that stuff yourself, if you're interested.

Most operators of the F-5 modified them or had them modified. The Saudi's paid Northrop for major upgrades, like the ability to self lase, fire Shrikes, and BVR missile, while others like Singapore did the upgrades themselves. You can find pictures and data with all kinds of configurations if you look hard enough. Belsimtek are simulating a less modified version.

Need 2.0 Help with Terrain and Modules!
Paganus replied to Mad Dog 7.62's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
MD, the answers you seek are in this thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=116362 -
I'll still be downloading it.

Great game but very hard for beginners...
Paganus replied to luftfisch's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
As the dust settles from the NTTR release, I suspect we will see new training missions on that map. -
[REPORTED] AI infantry does not attack
Paganus replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Mission Editor Bugs
Try having the Blue infantry spawn just outside the range of the Red. Then move them into the range and see if they fire. -
Thanks for the tip.... I think this is the same, known bug as has been reported by others as well. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=152123

upgrade my cpu and now cant play :(
Paganus replied to blackturbo's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I think there is a way to deactivate outside of the sim. Do a few searches you may find it. I'll take a look to see if I can also. Look at the PDF attached to this post. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2536071&postcount=2 Good luck! -
Thanks for the WiP sneak peak. I have complete confidence in CptSmiley and the entire RAZBAM team. Can't wait to fly it myself!

I get where you're coming from "mattebubben", but they have to draw the line somewhere. In looking for info on a AGM-65 enabled model I learned the F-5 can carry a vast assortment of stuff depending on the country and upgrades. An array of US weapons, AGM-45 Shrike, canopy mounted laser designation device for LGB's, modern air to air missile, etc. Some countries converted to French weapons and radar. Some countries built new aircraft under license while others (Iran) just made copies and changed the name. The US parts they can't buy they replace with Russian gear. Based on the weapon list, radar and the inclusion of an RWR, we will be getting a middle of the road, not heavily updated version.

How about some Shrikes? Saudi F-5s are dedicated to army close air support and can carry AGM-45 Shrike ASMs, GBU-10/12 laser-guided bombs, and Rockeye cluster bomb units. The RSAF's F-5s have the capability of carrying and launching the Hughes AGM-65A/B Maverick missile for ground attack and anti-shipping missions. Saudi F-5E/Fs are reportedly capable of carrying the French-built Matra R.550 Magic air to air missile. Royal Saudi Air Force F-5Es were fitted with the Litton LN-33 inertial navigation system and are fitted with inflight refuelling capability for use with the RSAF's KC-130 aerial tankers. They were provided with ALQ-101/119 ECM pods and ALR-46 RWR. The two-seaters were provided with canopy-mounted Northrop AVQ-27 manual laser target designators.

The F-86 model they made is Korean war era but we have sidewinders from after that war, closer to 58. The UH-1H is Vietnam war era but the armament mounting we have is not typical to that time. The Mi-8MTV2 is fairly current and era ubiquitous. I think they are flexible where they want to be.

Yeah, the announcement clearly states unguided air to ground ordnance.
