Asking ED to add TEWS and weapon management display exports.
agrasyuk replied to WRCRob's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Bump. Ability to export TEWS will indeed be very helpful. Radar control can be exported, I can't imagine TEWS will be much harder to do. -
Thank you for the review. I am thinking on how to add tacktile feedback and these pads were on my mind. Can this be combined with butkicker? Would the systems compliment each other , or would you say they are redundant ?

Hi, RK could you post your monitors.LUA please? I'm interested to find out how you moved the UI, the radio dialog, and the battle damage awareness screens so they are in good view while the DCS projections are blended. how do you deal with F10 view ?

Maybe I can help ?

Screen is painted with first layer. What a transformation! Blacks are darker, whites are brighter, everything looks sharper . I almost don't want to touch it any further, but the next coat will make things even better. Used home depot off the shelf paints - PPG metallic and PPG diamond flat tinted to "stone" medium grey mixed 2:1 . All in all 40$ screen. Time to pay up guys at fly Elise it seems.

It's called Scaling. And it works awesome.

Supply/demand. when something that is scarce is in demand the price goes up - a law of nature that yo can argue with exactly as much you can argue with gravity.

my friend was able to walk out of store with a 3070 around Christmas time. perfect timing that is probably going to be very rare - there are guys camping outside the microcenter in Chicago, in sufficient numbers to overcome the one card per person within 30days policy. chances are they will pick out whatever cards make it to the shelves. In retrospect I probably should have approached them with a cash deal proposition to save us both the time , the double-tax and the ebay fee. options 2 and 3 are available. You could also try and get into the EVGA que on their website. no idea of current wait times

Thank you for the warm comment Hans. And BTW, your findings are very much instrumental in this project. Some more eye candy - MIP items are getting populated. It's very nice to have those big MFCDs. overall. really need to paint that screen.

Yes. It's MAX485 in this particular instance, it will take 487 or course just the same. the R and the C are optional, works without them just fine in my case (for now) I'm not sure what you mean by sequencing. all the boards sit on same bus, like the diagrams in post #2 show. I order arduino nano's, I order those PCBs , I solder the chip, the sockets and the headers. I can supply you with the bare interface boards and you can solder everything yourself. if you need help I can solder, I'm not ecstatic about doing soldering jobs, but I don't hate 'em either. PS, Next step is getting away from those arduino nano's and making PCB for the Atmel microprocessor directly. I will get to it eventually. maybe

might not meet the "professionally" requirement, but these are usable. how many do you need?

I didn't code for UHF receiver yet. If you want a better answer you might want to elaborate on the issue. what environment you working with? what did you do? what did you expect to happen? what is actually happening?

Button engraving is done, need to turn some knobs now. Acrylic boat switch knob going to be to thin after drilling, I wasn't sure if enough material is going to be left to hold a thread. So I got some time on the mill to fab some knobs out of alum. Still need to drill and tap. As you can see I have several available, let me know if anyone needs any. With 11th gen of intel CPUs now available the 10th gen stuff was on a deep sale so I went ahead and purchased a system: I7 10700K , 32Gb of RAM, 1TB M.2 SSD, 850W seasonic gold PSU. Due to the situation with GPUs I will be using gtx1080 SC for the time being, curious if the EVGA cue will trigger my registration for 3090 eventually. System is all set up, CPU OC'ed to 5GHz effortlessly. Screens got calibrated for the most part, still need to tweak that profile a bit. Calibration in progress: First test flight is complete In motion. Test pilot's feedback was satisfactory. Only 2 crashes so far. Stick curves will need to be adjusted .

While the bigger quarium pumps are usable for air assist I absolutely hated the noise and the vibration. Shopvac for fume vent ? Oh boy... That is a one loud party. Vaccums provide good static pressure , but in this case you want high airflow. If you are in it for the long game you will need to look at air scrubbers sooner or later. DIY options do exist

And that already looks serious - you are almost there. Consider gluing the front plate to the mid layer and painting together. You probably dicovered by now that lasers need ventilaton. Before buying whatever machine you decide on do take a look at situation with filtering fumes and build yourself a good extraction solution. The tiny fan that comes with the unit is a joke, prepare to budget for a suitable blower

Suggested Specs for a good dedicated server
agrasyuk replied to CallsignPunch's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
going to revisit this thread. how did that 2600K do as server? how would something like 4th generation i3 CPU (4360 haswell) with 16gb of RAM would fare hosting a dedicated server? I do have a 250gb ssd to throw into that system. what about i5 3570K ? -
Very nice. Can't wait to see this in action
-
GPU probably could use an upgrade, yes. CPU? you already have top of the line CPU for that board. I wouldn't bother investing in old DDR3 RAM. If you can hold out and keep using what you have - great. If you want to upgrade get a complete modern platform. If you are on a tight budget look for a complete used platform: something like 6700K-7600K. It's still a very viable configuration and can be had quite economically: something like : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-i5-7600k-With-Gigabyte-GA-Z270MX-GAMING-5/184722860199?hash=item2b025728a7:g:PggAAOSwDRdgWRTA you probably could get some $ back ebaying your old platform.

Anyone thinking of getting the Intel i7 11700k this week?
agrasyuk replied to jib's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
instead of 11700K I just purchased a 10700K at a very nice discount this Friday (and MB+RAM to go with it). It's basically the same thing but without direct lanes for the SSD. If all of a sudden the 11th get proves to get few FPS more in DCS I will not be majorly upset -
You already expressed your views on state of soviet economics quite clearly. I also already expressed that I find your views laughable and I'm questioning your competency in topic of economics. feel free to hold whatever views you please, I'm really not interested in that conversation. I will just mention that countries with healthy economies cannot be "torn apart by local elites" , never happened before. The only threat to global economy that I see are governments armed with their incompetency trying to intervene. I already explained what I make this prediction on - if there is a demand there will eventually be supply. Did you miss news of Intel soon to enter the GPU market ? it's been few month? ok, so it will be few more months. "positive/negative loop" I have no clue what are you trying to say . I already explained my view on "recommended" price type - it's irrelevant . there are only two relevant price types: Ask and Bid. If someone is really in a dire need of 3060 they are available. at significant premium, but available.

MFDs and such are a screen port. Gauges are not, means you can't render them on a different monitor directly. But as mentioned above you can install Helios and render gauges with that. Zeen's profiles are a great example on how to. You probably going to trim his profiles heavily to suit your needs.

If I ever to do this again it will be sold as complete plug and play programmed DCS-BIOS device. assembly is not trivial, I have some ruined samples, and I'm not going to risk anyone blaming me for their failure to assemble my convoluted kit. Price will be discussed in "for sale" thread if it gets to that stage or in private. I'm not sure when I will be taking on this
-
Darkpig, yes I could do another run if there is enough interest, but this is not a very cheap device. take a look at HCMS-2973 prices on mouser, it's quite a bit more then OLEDs and this device needs 3 of them even before we start talking about PCB and rest of the components.

LEDs from china have mcd? I'm not even sure what it is , lol. I just buy a 3mm flat top (wide) models 500pc bag and use that with whatever mcd they provide. When you need more light use more LEDs . You also want to play with exact positioning to try and achieve uniform lighting and avoid hotspotting
