Nellis Charts for year 2011
Sierra99 replied to dcs76's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
Ahhhh there is the rub...in flight guides are not FLIP. In fact any inflight guide that has specific departures and arrivals present will have a disclaimer advising to "check current flip prior to flying". Those inflight guides are copied and reused as much as possible to save time. Unless you are looking at copies of actual departure procedures for the periods in question...the best you'll get is a guesstimation.. -

I have a spare articulation sphere...I.ll measure the pins and get it to ya tomorrow. Since they are rounded on the end, do ya want the overall diameter of the sphere so ya can round they caps? -
You can use the Master Caution for any aircraft you can map it to...getting it to flash...that's a different story. Supposedly they were working on this a year ago.

Quick question...Will the Viper eventually import "Initial Point" Map objects into the NAV database the way the A-10C does? You guys are doing Strong Work!
-
Why? Nothing is broke... Both work for their respective receivers. You elected to try and refuel using a Drogue with an f-16 and it worked. So what? If I had to guess I'd say the reason for this is because the mechanics were easy to code that. But nothing is " broke" Now it was a case of "F-16s MUST use a basket and F-18s MUST use a boom" I'd agree something is broke... but that's not the case. As long as they workforce the CORRECT receivers...I'm happy.

Nellis Charts for year 2011
Sierra99 replied to dcs76's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
If you are taking the Radial DME from actual departure plates, they were 100% correct...when they those procedures were in effect. Air Force pilots use current FLIP provided by the FAA and review those procedures prior to takeoff. The procedures contained in the Current flip are correct for any flights that day. Radial/DME fixes, you name it can change from one FLIP to the next for a variety of reasons. But just because FYTTR ONE, TWO, THREE and FOUR have different fix points doesn't mean they were wrong. They are just different from the latest which is the FYTTR FIVE. departure. Current can be found here: http://www.airnav.com/airport/KLSV And the current FYTTR FIVE departure indicates 270/33 https://aeronav.faa.gov/d-tpp/1911/00227FYTTR.PDF -
Hey guys...there is all sorts of information that describes how the Cat I/III switch changes the FLCS gains to account for wing loading. The question I and others can NOT find is exactly WHAT constitutes a Cat 1 Load verses CAT III? What is the source document that says..."If you're carrying X Select Cat I and if you're carrying Y select Cat III". Sierra

So here is just a random gee whiz question... The only difference between a Block 50 and 52 off the assembly line was the engine. GE vs. Pratt. (Details are irrelevant to the question) Supposedly they can swap engines at will. (Yes and a few sub components) The question is: Is there any evidence this has ever been done? Is there any evidence or stories of a Block 50 getting a Pratt engine or vice versa? No reason for this question other than curiosity.

So after about 2 1/2 hours of multiplayer it seems the stutters are basically gone...there were a couple of: "oh crap did my game just crash?" moments...not sure what those were about...but the Stutters were nothing near what was the "normal" in the past at least for the people I fly with. Nice Job ED.

A2A Refueling "trick" to make it easier - CAT1/3
Sierra99 replied to DerekSpeare's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Not to mention refueling takes place with aircraft carrying both configurations of weapons... -
Yes...and no. Every unit in the Air Force has a specific "Wartime Mission". A units primary mission is what they spend the most time training for. Yes, an F-16 "CAN" do everything except the kids homework...but we don't want pilots going to war good at "everything". We want pilots going to war to do specific Jobs. What does this mean? Money. It all comes down to money. Let's say a unit has a wartime mission of SEAD. As a commander I need to make sure my unit is capable of executing its wartime mission flawlessly so I allocate my training time and money to SEAD training than ACM training. Yes, they will train and are proficient in ACM...but since it's not their dedicated wartime mission, less time and money is allocated to it than SEAD. The other side of the coin...A National Guard unit with a Peacetime/Wartime mission of Air Defense will spend far more time / money practicing ACM than it will for Ground attack. Can they drop Bombs safety? Sure. But they will spend far more time training for ACM. Make Sense?

When Anti-Skid functions are mapped using "Special For Joystick/Left Auxiliary Console" the following occurs. ANTI-SKID Switch - OFF/ANTI-SKID ( JOY_BTN28 ) works as expected. ANTI-SKID Switch - PARKING BREAK/ANTI-SKID ( JOY_BTN27 ) Does not work. TM Warthog LASTE Switch used. (Switch verified working with other 3 position switches in that category.) (Version 2.5.5.37626 & 2.5.6.3775)

TM HOTAS 3-way AP Switch for F-16 AP 3-Way switch
Sierra99 replied to FoxOne007's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Most 3 way switches are now set up for "Either / Or" operation. Either in the Default Category or under the "Special For Joystick" category. That being said some may not be working at the moment. For example Anti-Skid works between Off and Anti-Skid but doesn't work Anti-Skid to Parking break...I'll report that in the bugs section and let them sort it out. I just tested this. Instrument Panel Category Autopilot PITCH Switch - ALT HOLD JOY_BTN27 Autopilot PITCH Switch - ALT HOLD JOY_BTN28 Switch Forward/Up selects - ALT HOLD Switch Center Selects Center/OFF position Switch Aft/DOWN selects - ATT HOLD Switch Center Selects Center/OFF position. Which I believe is the operation you are looking for. -
can not reproduce Autostart Sequence Fails (NOZ POS)
Sierra99 replied to Sierra99's topic in Bugs and Problems
BIGNEWY I didn't stop the autostart...it stopped itself after the "Engine Parameters Failure" message. I was getting a cup of coffee...:smilewink: The only thing out of kilter seemed to be the Nozzle position indication. Gauge indicated 82%, Externally the Nozzle appeared to be full open. It did it 3-4 times in a row then seemed to be fine...then did it again. Just did an autostart and it worked fine. Meh...I know things are being tuned. Just wanted to post it in case it was related to something else. -
Obviously for Static models...

Autostart intermittently fails. Appears to be related to "NOZ POS" indication. All other engine indications appropriate. Track and Photos attached. Autostart Fail.trk

Is using the TGP in Air to Ground CCIP mode a work in progress? I find a target with the TGP but as soon as I select A/G mode, it slews to the current waypoint and cant be moved. I'm fairly confident > I < am doing something wrong...BUT just in case I missed something... Thanks

JP233s are nasty critters... "Not ONLY are we going to put holes in your runway...We're gonna scatter a few hundred little party poppers to make your life interesting when ya try to fix it."

I know y’all are busy but I’m curious if liveries for the viper will get the same attention as the Hornet and include engine inlet & exhaust covers, seat covers HUD covers Remove before flight streamers etc. Love this bird and can’t wait to see her grow.

Ok...I scored a TM X-Fighter stick for a song. It’s gutted and waiting for new parts. The question is...which “version” of B-8 do I do. The “Standard” B-8 has a Trim Switch and 3 push buttons. Simple. Easy. Clean. Used in a lot of aircraft. Early F-15Cs swapped the push button on the left side for a 5 way switch used to select radar modes. I can add this easy with a mini 5-way switch. Any other options or versions I should consider?

Suncom SFS and Talon restoration and mods
Sierra99 replied to debolestis's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
So this just popped up on Amazon... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NAY2Q6O?ref_=pfb_4e8gb5dn9abi11geaja5757egcgm&tag=fbmeffdrhr-bd-20&ascsubtag=pfb-P05-V01-O5-X99-HI-9EIZSG&fbclid=IwAR1KH9MBydw8t1QM-WXmShzTjnZZ1apa6cnTHqApJVHqGM86tCyeIVutJqw Seems like a nice small package. Will these work with a Bodnar board? I'm Scrutineering the parts for an SFS rebuild.
