I definitely understand the disappointment of those who pre-ordered the Viper after being assured that it would not be discounted for the a long time. (And then finding out they bought a barely alpha level piece of software) On the other hand we need to help each other while there's a global crisis going on and we should be thinking about others before we think of ourselves at least when it comes to trivial matters of video game planes.

I've found the gyro sight to be perfectly good even against maneuvering targets. Don't get over focused on it though just use it as a guide

I would be very happy to see a MiG-17/ J5 It would fill a hole in the MiG lineup and be ideal for a Vietnam scenario. I'd also fly the pants off it

I would be happy with 3rd part developers doing exactly what the MiG-21Bis devs did with their "nuke" because everyone knows that it's just jank and serves no real purpose other than "lol nukes" and is banned from every server. I'm also happy with ED's policy on never officially supporting them.

Three years ago nobody could have forseen that we would have not one, not even two but three full fidelity 4th generation American fighters in DCS with a fourth on the way. Who can say what the future really holds anymore. For my part though, there is a lot of low hanging fruit left to pick for DCS and we'll likely be picking it for years to come.

It is removable IRL but because it has no effect on flight performance they just leave it on But there was a period right at the beginning of the adoption of the Mirage 2000 that they had more planes than probes so they swapped them around a bit. Sorry I can't remember the sources.

I'd buy the OG phantom no problem. Would prefer a Panther or even more a Cougar but 1st generation navy jets are seriously cool

For some reason almost immediately after changing it to "Special Modes Fwd" and "Target unlock/Special Modes Deselect" they changed it again to "Weapons SystemCMD FWD" and ""Weapons SystemCMD AFT"" respectively In the HOTAS section

My understanding is that the capability that the Navy really misses from the Tomcat is the range and loiter time that even the super hornet doesn't really come close to In the Gulf War they were using Tomcats to strike well in land from the carrier where it was too dangerous for AAR

Congrats on ordering the crosswinds. I recently moved to Canada without my pedals and can't get ones for a reasonable price for love nor money... well actually yeah I can get them for money but I don't love the prices, shipping and import fees from the states.

It's incredibly goddamn fast. That's its main strength It has decent for the time BVR capabilities, a really quite good loiter time compared to the 21 if you fly it that way. The MLA supposedly has... acceptable turn performance but they did try to increase the turn performance again with the MLD variant at the expense of some top end speed by giving it high lift devices on the wings. It's essentially a boom and zoom fighter if you want to think of it that way.

Now when will DCS support float planes?

Helicopters seem freaking immortal in DCS. It's not just the Apache. On most targets the 37mm does pretty well. one or two hits will bring down all aircraft except the Viggen in my experience. Not shot at most of the newer releases though
