  1. There are things you need to do with Oculus to get the most out of it. Have you run the oculus tray tool and disabled ASW before running DCS in VR? Also it’s not a bad idea to overclock you’re gpu but if your using msi afterburner make sure it’s not polling like this guy found vvvv I went into Afterburner/Settings/Monitoring and changed the polling time from 1000 ms (every second) to 60k, i.e. every minute. Linked to the FXO folder deletion, that's resulted in a massive reduction in smearing. Awesome. Then I would suggest looking through your DCS settings. Pixel density in VR settings has a big effect on frames. Terrain distance and shadows as well, and of course MSAA, but I do run MSAA at x2 because I find the jagged edges too horrible without it. I’m able to get a solid 45fps on most maps in most aircraft in most scenarios so I would say you should be able to achieve better performance than what you are currently achieving.
  2. The same with the trees. I have posted on the wishlist that maybe something could be done about it. Otherwise it performs well for me in VR and I appreciate it’s a very new map. At the moment for me as a VR player it’s perfect for helicopters, but once you start climbing high the textures start to look a bit blurry at distance, and as you say there is no tree or building detail at distance.
  3. I would just love to re-create missions from Desert storm, taking off in the early hours of the morning and flying strike missions deep into Iraq skimming 50ft above the Desert on the way. I hope one day it will come true.
  4. Hi Urga, Is there a chance we could increase tree visibility, for example I can fly 20,000 feet look almost directly below me and watch the trees growing. I have tree visibility set to 100%. Hope the new map proves successful, i've been impressed so far.
  5. The 3rd party devs are our only hope after Nick Grey ruled out ED doing it.
  6. The pilots in development look top quality. I’ve been waiting for this great stuff.
  7. That’s the one thing I have noticed with the Syria map. At altitudes you see the trees and buildings grow, even on High terrain distance. But performance is better than I anticipated.
  8. So I wasn't going to purchase this map because I'm still not using the Channel map after buying it because of poor VR performance. I was going to wait to get some feedback before deciding, but temptation got the better of me. My 1st flight, I took the F16 over Israel, started the flight in the air with 90FPS, admitted I was over water with the coast and land in view to my right, I turned over land 45FPS no drops, I'm thinking to myself this is to good to be true, so i flew over an area with a high density of buildings, 45FPS. I've maybe had at the most a drop of 2FPS. Straight out of the box with my normal settings so far this map for me is working well in VR, I am very pleased.
  9. I do get where you’re coming from, it was talked about some time back about VR improvement by some 50% I believe, but we never had any confirmation as to if this was ever implemented. There was an improvement in terms of VR performance because I remember for some time the F14 would often be stuck around 30fps and now I more or less achieve a steady 45fps. Certainly on the PG map. 50%? I would say no. Regarding the hardware updating, the fact that there is a lot of talk about implementation of Vulkan would suggest that DCS isn’t currently utilising the full potential of current hardware, but they’ve recognised this and doing something about it. I will be honest and say that I was disappointed with the performance of the channel map in VR and I’ve never been disappointed in anything ED has done before. I don’t think I will rush into buying Syria until I read some feedback. Separate: but some may want to take note I have noticed and I would recommend this to anyone out there, and this is coming from someone that loves mods, with the latest OB patch I have resisted mods and it was difficult for me, but the F18 in VR for example is running like a dream for me in OB with no mods. I have a separate install of the stable version which I mod with my favourite ones. Fresh repair and remove all mods, it may be worth a go for you all? Something to try. I know I’m coming at this from a VR perspective and not everyone uses VR. But I know VR pushes performance to the limit.
  10. Akrotiri would be a good NATO base for missions, hope one day they will consider its addition.
  11. Love the hind helicopter. Will we get an a.i gunner that will engage targets while we fly in single player?
  12. It’s easily mapped to your Hotas and turns on/off with the flick of a switch.
  13. How much is the map when it’s on sale? What I would say is if your a VR user at this moment in time the channel map doesn’t perform for me and I’m not using it, so for me Normandy is the only WW2 environment that performs adequately for VR. It’s not brilliant the views in the channel map are far superior but at this moment in time I think it’s worth having.
  14. I have sim shaker for aviators and that’s all I use I don’t use the sim shaker wings software, I think there’s another software called sim shaker sound module, I assumed you meant you use that software as well maybe I misunderstood you. Anyway the only software I use is simshaker for aviators and it working without problems so far.
  15. I just have a jet seat but I don’t bother with the sound induced function. I have it set so I have minimal rumble when accelerating or rolling. And it makes the actions like high AoA, firing guns deploying speedbrakes dropping gear applying burner more noticeable, it’s working nicely, perhaps try without the sound option to see if this is causing it?
  16. I actually find Normandy not so bad with VR, the colours are way off but there’s a mod out there that enables you to adjust that. Its the channel that I find I just can’t run. And I actually keep two installs my OB which I don’t mod at all and my stable which I have a few mods on. The latest patch on OB I found helped a little with the channel, with my Oculus CV1 I find 2xmsaa a must otherwise it looks so awful. I’ve got the PG map and Nevada running like a dream in the F18 it’s really beautiful and smooth. But with the channel only the P-51 I can fly and maintain 45fps but if I fly low over heavily populated areas with lots of buildings the frames drop to the 30s and I get noticeable stuttering. And the Spitfire or P-47 in such a scenario is a complete no go. Now if I take a similar scenario in the F-18 over the PG and I fly low and in between the buildings around Dubai I can get perfectly smooth performance and not one drop below 45fps even by leaving the Cockpit mirrors on so I have hope that eventually the channel can be optimised in a similar way. The fact that UGRA media made Normandy makes me hope Syria will be alright with VR but I remember Normandy stuttering after release I remember the PG stuttering, I think only Nevada run smoothly in VR from the off.
  17. I think listening to the pod cast interview with HB recently it will be more like the Stennis feature wise, but with some quirks like a smaller deck and 5 wires.
  18. Hi thanks for the reply. I think I’ve got it working I think it was because I had the audio mini jack plugged in and it was preventing it from going into USB mode. Thanks.
  19. Hi everyone can anybody provide any advice i've just had a Jetseat arrive from Andres shop i've downloaded the simshaker software I have checked to make sure my Net Frame version is up to date I've downloaded the control panel selected usb mode, alternative mode, set Force Feedback in DCS world but I just get continuous vibration as if its in sound mode and the control panel shows the seat as disconnected I cant seem to get it to connect.
  20. This is looking amazing, pilot bodies look great cockpit looks great mfd’s look great and by the sounds of it the FM is really complex, I can’t wait to buy it plus the helicopter looks great as well. I’m no longer purchasing every module released for DCs anymore but this one has my attention.
  21. Looking at these videos of the Syria map and it’s absolutely stunning. Which is making me fear performance in VR will be similar to Channel map
  22. That’s helpful thanks for the information. Regarding the steam VR, I’m noticing a lot of people mentioning steam vr with reverb. Is this because you have the steam version of DCS? Or you benefit running dcs through steam even though you have the standalone version because the reverb benefits from it or needs it? Just something I’ve never quite understood, Many thanks.
  23. Ok that’s encouraging guys. Thanks for the info. I’ve had my CV1 for a long while now but have never been fully satisfied, it’s always a case of I can just get it running at 45fps but the slightest drop below that just 3-4fps less and you really notice it. It’s not always smooth. Also it looks pretty awful now even at PD 1.5 so I end up using 2xMSAA to compensate. And to me oculus have never got the colours right. Are colours pretty good with the reverb? I want to make an upgrade but don’t really want to spend £1000 on a new graphics card just yet. Do you guys feel the reverb would benefit if I upgraded my cpu as well?
  24. Ok it sounds like the reverb may give better performance than my CV1 it obviously looks much better with it.
  25. I’ve seen a video of a guy running a HP reverb with DCS world and it looks pretty smooth, and that was using a 1080ti. Do you guys think that’s achievable or does it have to be completely empty missions, and at minimum I would need an rtx 2080?
