P51-B flyable mod project with ED's edm file
westr replied to snowsniper's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
It would be a great addition just for a.i if you could do it with some us and raf skins -
Razbam has become a bit of a target, there are some that are no longer prepared to give them any form of leeway. There are some elements of the avionics that are not exactly as they should be on the harrier, some are noted and are being addressed some I think Razbam have admitted can’t be done because of a lack of declassified information. Thing is as someone who has pc flight simmed for a long time I look at it another way. I have played virtually every flight sim that was available over the years certainly the iconic ones. The MPs Harrier was awesome in its day because it was a harrier. I try it now and it’s no fun at all. Yes I know it’s ancient but we are spoilt now in my opinion, in the way technology has enabled us to experience these aircraft in simulations with breathtaking graphics and avionics so much more complex in comparison it’s laughable, and the single most amazing change to when I started in my opinion, VR. I also accept that it’s a simulation and will never fully replicate the experience of flying a harrier for real so Im prepared to accept that some elements of the sim are never going to be fully accurate. That’s not to say I don’t want as much realism as possible, that’s what all DCS fans want right, it’s just never going to be 100% possible. I know there are new standards set now, and I know when the bugs list on this forum sort or disappeared and they started another it upset a lot in the community but I genuinely believe that these guys want to get this done. And when it’s fully done it will be above and beyond anything I ever had as a kid. I still desperately wait for certain features like the VR pilot, and admit it can get a bit tedious waiting but I desperately want these guys to succeed because Im a sim fan, and I’m incapable of doing it myself, personally I accept this because it takes a lot longer than sims we had years ago because it’s so much more complex. They have even been getting some stick for the flight model which In all honesty I can’t understand, 1 it’s quite a unique flight model unlike any other in the sim and 2 until someone who’s actually flown the harrier tells me it’s useless I’m going with that it feels brilliant to me and to be able to go from conventional flight to hovering and landing on the deck it’s fantastic. Thing I really like about Razbam modules, they run well in VR, and the cockpits look great. It’s a really fun module even in its unfinished state certainly if you simmed with some of the stuff I did in the early 90s. So I would recommend it personally, and I will buy their products in the future because we need 3rd party developers with DCS experience, that’s my opinion anyway.

Sorry what plane are you flying? The spitfire is a killer...

The Sea Harrier FRS1 and the invincible is when the Falklands map will come into its own. Perfect combination.

that’s fantastic news, can’t wait to get stuck into the harrier.

possibly before the end of the year?

Could we please have some options to make some adjustments for colours and saturations in the sim for us VR users. I am using a mod at the moment, https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/englis...242134&page=23 im sure the author won’t mind me referring to it as it’s a brilliant mod. My point is though that using this I am able to make adjustments to colour saturation and more, both outside and inside the cockpit, for the display in my rift so it shows it can be done. It makes such a difference to the sim for me I find default colour setting looks very unnatural on some maps. I’m just concerned with the updates it will probably at some point break the mod, and I would really like to see these options in the game menus for these sort of adjustments for VR please ED.

Normandy winter textures by Revi

Wow this looks amazing will download now. -
Would like jump in this thread and say that I’m really pleased with this new damage model. It’s added a new dimension to WW2 in DCS, it’s made the dogfights a bit more personable. I have listened to interviews and understand a new ai intelligence will be introduced at some point, which is great and is really needed, but little things like seeing the 109 roll on its back so the pilot can fall out after being hit just makes it feel more like it’s intelligently controlled. Good work.

Because if they get the sounds right it will be iconic. It will remind me of some movie I used to watch when I was a kid.

Looks perfect

Performance wise seems identical to before in VR, channel map still poor FPS over populated areas, still have the Rapidly growing trees in Syria as well.
-
I guess he’s getting at in a cockpit environment you would lean over and point out objects to your Rio, it would ideally be a bit more seamless than physically going through the menu. I sort of get that, not sure how easy that would be to implement, probably wouldn’t go down to well with the purists, particularly if little boxes appeared in your field of view over targets so it would have to have an option to disable it, but in some ways could be more realistic.
-
Do you have a time scale barthtek?
-
It’s possibly better but it’s still not great, it still can’t deal with large numbers of aircraft as well.
-
Would love it, but as a VR user, a combination of VR and large formations of German bombers over the channel map, the sims going to chug like hell, we need better optimisation of VR with large numbers of assets to be useful for VR, can’t speak for non VR performance. So I’m hoping all focus can be put into implementation of Vulkan and hopefully better performance utilising hardware next, then go for these fantastic scenarios, because a Battle of Britain scenario would be wonderful, there’s something so pure and beautiful about the MkI spit, and also the Hurricane, not the best aircraft but none the less highly effective in the scenario, it would be a dream for me, but there’s lots of work for them still to do to be able to offer this effectively in DCS.

Strange I’ve definitely noticed an improvement, I’m maintaining 45fps in most situations with 2xmsaa I couldn’t get anywhere near that a month ago. If I add lots of units performance still goes through the floor though.
-
I’ve had an improvement with the latest patch with the channel map in VR. But I also updated my NVIDIA driver to the latest driver just before I tried it. So there’s a possibility that this has improved the situation. Has anyone else noticed an improvement with the channel map?
-
Really worthwhile mod
-
I’d like them to improve the performance of the channel map as a priority, before adding more features. I bought it and have barely used it due to its very poor performance in VR.

Could someone who has bought the update please confirm if it has or has not had a VR pilot added to the cockpit. I would really appreciate the info. -
Regarding the gauges in the mirage, the weapons management, the fuel gauge and the RWR, it has I assume a perspex cover over the gauges, I find this is slightly to opaque and looks not quite right, it could be a VR only issue, maybe it is exactly how it is in the real aircraft? If so fair enough. Otherwise Is there possibly a workaround to make it slightly more transparent in cockpit does anybody know how this could be done?, or could something be changed with it in the future?
-
Yeah agreed, heading in the right direction thanks.

They are not allowed to go anywhere they need to get started on the Tornado when the Tomcat is finished.:megalol: Sorry couldn’t help it.
