As title. Wondering if anyone has managed to get it working in VR (quest3) and if so if it’s worth it? I can’t stand the ghosting and have all frame generation off currently but this supposedly is better.
-
I just want them to add the stick force setting that the F4 has. I can’t stop ripping off my wings.
-
Depends when you last tried I suppose. There were updates a while back. Now on the deck you might get 10 miles out of it.

That’s why it’s a high altitude missile where the air is thin. Down low its range is very limited.

If you’re running your computer at max setting with a 4070ti you’re already doing it wrong. Also comparing a scene on a carrier vs land is apples to oranges. While I would love more Phantom love I get an easy locked 55fps with the phantom in VR with a computer that’s several years out of date now. A lot of those settings that you’ve maxed out are really only for screenshots - not every day use. unless of course you’re exaggerating and being a drama queen

In addition, Don’t forget that the engine will output different amounts of power based on altitude and airspeed. A vertical climb starting at 200 knots is different than one that starts at 500 knots. Same for altitude. A climb starting at sea level will be different than one starting at 15000ft.

Write notes on kneeboard or alike in game.
ricktoberfest replied to bmbpdk's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Yes, but the one I used didn’t pass multiplayer IC. I used VAICOM knee board which had the option of dictating notes. -
As a side note to all the F4 info, the rudder on the F18 is a very powerful dogfighting flight control. At low speed you can spin the aircraft around on its yaw axis while diving on a turning contact below you. It’s well worth learning how to use the rudder even in fully digital airframes.

stuck at "first strike" , not proceeding
ricktoberfest replied to dynameis's topic in DCS: F-16C The Gamblers Campaign
Did you start the jet? I think it waits for the radios to be up before anything happens. -
I’ve been experimenting a bit, while hand tracking works for pushing big buttons, I still find it slower and less accurate than using a mouse. You have to sort of push through the button, not just touch it. This makes it easy to hit the wrong button. Also- I keep hitting my desk. I could fix the desk issue by sitting further back but then I lose access to the mouse for all the stuff that doesn’t work with hand tracking. all said it’s fun for a few minutes and then I go back to mouse control.
-
I realize this might be a bit off topic, but any way to get better hand tracking in VD, or hand tracking at certain times. I find when I enable hand tracking I can no longer use my mouse and the pointer for hand tracking seems to come out the top of my knuckles rather than in line with the finger tip

The oculus (meta) beta drivers don’t work with openxr toolkit. It crashes on loading.

Now the spool time is fixed, any tricks to AAR?
ricktoberfest replied to Ogata_Rina's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
You don’t need a bunch of rudder as the engines are pretty close together so not much yaw. The afterburner trick was common but mainly for very heavy loadouts. -
I tried both radios but never got a response from the tanker. Thankfully i had enough fuel to land. I also had a hard time following weasel 3-3 unless I locked him on tws. It’s fine when I was in close formation, but hard to distinguish him from the other f16s unless you’ve managed to stay with him right from takeoff.

I’m pretty sure like you said it’s fictional. The intent is the intro mission is in place of a giant readme file, not in addition to.

reported earlier OpenXR Toolkit no longer works - Oculus update
ricktoberfest replied to kraszus's topic in Virtual Reality
I noticed that too. Left the beta path and all works fine again. Does the oculus beta work if you remove openxr toolkit? -
Enigma's Dynamic Cold War Campaign PVP/PVE Server
ricktoberfest replied to Enigma89's topic in Multiplayer
It wasn’t just on a whim. He was talking about the lack of spawn and parking if he had to add slots for so many aircraft. The new dynamic slots are supposed to fix that but I’m not sure if they actually work yet. Look up his answer and you’ll see it’s not as easy as you think -
Saw a message from Wags on Reddit about this being the biggest patch ever. Anybody know what is included in this. I was under the assumption this was a normal patch that had bug fixing and release of CH-47 (delayed) and first part of Afghanistan

I think the autopilot handles most scenarios already if set up in a stable state. I would think it more important to have an Iceman in the front for when you’re in the back seat fiddling with the radar.
-
speaking as one who’s been hit by those missiles, I might be in the air, but I’m doing everything I can to stay there. I might be able to hit the burners and fly away but I’m no longer fighting and may not be able to land

1. Yes it happens to real pilots too. That’s why they have rules for currency 2. plenty of threads about current situation between razbam and ED I’d avoid the F-15E for now until it gets cleared up but you have to make up your own mind. Just be aware that Razbam aircraft are currently unsupported and will get no fixes or improvements until the situation is resolved.

I think of it like the rotary switch for a ceiling fan or dimmable lights. The first part of the turn (often clicks) is to turn it on, the remainder of the dial is to vary the voltage for lighting or whatever it’s attached to

not a pilot, but every account I’ve heard described of combat in north Vietnam was about radios being so over used as to be nearly unintelligible. Doesn’t sound so cool calm and collected to me.

What did I think of Kiowa? It needs to improve in some areas!
ricktoberfest replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I guess I just don’t fit in with the new breed of sim player. I don’t own the Kiowa, nor do I plan at this time to buy it. I also don’t understand the trend of cinematic videos and screenshotting everything to post. I buy modules (to pretend) to fly them- not stare at them on a screen- 591 replies
