[FIXED] HUD: A picture is worth a thousand words?
OttoPus replied to randomTOTEN's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Known issue, the hud projection was reported as wrong by people that works with Warthogs IRL. I hope they'll fix it soon. -
This is much needed feature! +100

+1 this would be very useful

Just to be fair to the OP: he never dissed anybody. He didn't "draw a redline" either. He just voiced his honest opinion (which is shared by other people) with "measurable" points and in a polite manner. You like VR? You have the right to state so, and you have to be ready to have words with people who don't like VR (yet!), because that's the nature of a forum. Trolling is an entirely different thing, you know that and you are just lying to yourself just to make your faction point stronger. I find all of this a little pointless though: If i had listened and understood the sincere intents of GunSlingerAUS 2 months ago, I would have saved 40€ for the return shipment of my Valve Index. But you cannot really understand something if you don't try it in first person. The morale is: keep debating in a decent and mature way, but to judge something you have to try it first no matter how convincing is the factions (VR is ready, VR is not ready) propaganda.

I already pay Netflix, Amazon, Spotify and other entertainment sources monthly to always have new and high-quality content delivered. Also with the people of the squadron I fly with, we put an annual fee to buy hosting for the multiplayer server. So yes, it's a model that already works and would not bother me if this means having needed features (and additional content) delivered faster and with higher quality.

Add the Ability to Save and Load Mission Progress
OttoPus replied to SharpeXB's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I agree. Also there is MAC on the front, and unless is gonna be multiplayer only, a triple A single player game without "save" feature is... weird at least. I think this is a feature much needed in any play style (arcade, hardcore sim), for single player experiences. And I see some advantages for cooperative multiplayer games also: picture you and your squadron playing, in multiple sessions across several weeks, playing a dynamic campaing. Without a save feature this type of gameplay would be simply impossible. So ED, please, bring it on! :) -
I think instead that the push to VR will flip things. take in example the responsiveness of websites: in the old times you would develop desktop first and then adapt the experience to the mobile world with compromises. Now it's the exact opposite. In a similar fashion, in the following years I expect more and more "VR first" tech developing approach.

Add the Ability to Save and Load Mission Progress
OttoPus replied to SharpeXB's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Well said. I think that things will start to move to the right direction when RTS and dynamic campaign elements will be implemented in the sim. -
That will be a dream come true. Also the whole ecosytem will eventually grow with visuals, and we can expect better interface usability, hand tracking to interact in a natural fashion with cockpits, and so on

I had a very similar experience with the Valve Index, with PC specs exactly like yours. We are not there yet, but very, very close. It's a matter of just 2-3 years imho. It will be an incredible experience, in the meantime I'll stick and enjoy 2D with decent sharpness and performance.

[REPORTED] High-quality A-10C cockpit switch logic
OttoPus replied to Redglyph's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Yep the switch logic is different from other modules (Viper, Hornet), which is a little confusing. Also the mirrors are a little bit low-res, and there is no pilot model. And the HUD projection is too big. It's a WIP, so I think we will see a lot of improvements in all these areas during the following years. -
After some more testing, all is good but the hud projection (not the frame) is way too big. With a smaller hud it would be just perfect to me.

[REPORTED] High-quality A-10C cockpit switch logic
OttoPus replied to Redglyph's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Great work, I love the new cockpit. -
In 2D, I find it spot on. I don't have to touch zoom now, the FOV is like the one in the Viper and the world scale is ok now (no more fish-eye zoom to see the cockpit upper part)
-
Ehm... no. In my experience it looks like exactly like in the pictures, and you must add that the image edges are not as clear as that screenshot.
-
Maybe obvious, but... did you check packet loss? Since my connection is faulty (getting PL around 10%), in multiplayer I get stutters and such.... this on a beefy i7 9700k rtx 2080ti 32GB Ram machine. Just saying network performance and fps are tied, worth a check.

I agree... and to be honest, even some Valve experiences (the very steam home vr), are not a very good visual experience (the mountains outside the default "space" are just... blurry) as soon as the "wow! I'm IN the 3D world" effect expires (24 hours or so).
-
That's the whole point. VR at this time is not what it's marketed... it's not just some extra aliasing, I could stick with that. It's a giant step backwards in vision clarity under all aspects. It's too early, honestly.
