This line of thinking was "loud and clear" ( pun intended :) ). This is why there is a number of wishlist thread about this very issue... it's a wish.
DCS is all about realism, and this is fine. There must be though some tradeoffs, otherwise there would be no F2 or external views at all, isn't it?
Thanks for the answers and sorry for the off topic.
Wow this is a revelation! Please can you point us how the volume for external views can be adjusted without touching what you hear inside the cockpit with "hear like in helmet" checked?
I'm struggling to find the solution but it seems it was under our nose all the time :)
Looking forward for a reply.
Sorry but you are not correct here. Sound is a physical phenomenon, and the world is plenty of tools, measurers and math models to describe it correctly.
Just to state it better: SOUND IS NOT SUBJECTIVE, sound is something you can measure, model and reproduce accurately.
This procedure would be an improvement but it misses the binaural nature of our hearing. Luckily enough, there are some professional manufacturers of binaural microphone systems.
Binaural recordings + HRTF processing would add a whole new layer of realism :)
Yes and no. The mod I suggested will modify the volume in cockpit with "hearing like helmet" on, BUT raising that volume ( and of course bringing down dcs world master volume down to avoid distortion ) will balance the in cockpit loudness with the external view loudness.
Yes it will.
Sound.lua defines how much amplitude (and at which frequency) you'll cut out with "hear like in helmet" setting for various aircrafts.
You can play with that.
I.E. Original A-10C:
['A-10C'] = { gain = 0.12, lowpass =1000 },
Modified A-10C:
['A-10C'] = { gain = 4, lowpass = 2000 },
Give it a try.

I don't want to choose between realistic in cockpit sounds ( hear like in helmet ON ) and comfortable external views volume.
With the update, would it be possible to make data cartdrige fully editable outside the sim or in a dedicated GUI?
I.E. CDU, flight plans, radio presets, countermeasures, and so on?
( I don't mean on a per-mission basis but a pilot custom cartdrige)
