  1. Please spare us this fabricated nonsense, go learn to fight instead of creating false excuses for why you fail. The Eagle and Flanker are two of the most finely tuned professional flight models in DCS. If you had half a clue about DCS you'd know this, you'd also know the historical problems with the Tomcat and Hornet pfm.
  2. Nice, I see they've finally implemented the Raytheon Fairy dust update. DCS missiles are going backwards almost literally.
  3. Seems like you're the last to know, this has been like this since it was released, apparently a fix is in the works. Probably an ED missile logic issue.
  4. Having an F-14 with max elevation smaller than a MiG21 is funny. As a rough estimation a 1 bar scan on 4th gen fighters radar is about 3 degrees so a typical 4 bar scan would cover approx. 12 degrees over several seconds. That should give you an idea of where your info is giving mixed up data. After reading the link you posted it seems you are more confused than first realised. To help you understand an example of bar scan, the MiG29, it has a max elevation of +/-60 deg. But at 4 bar scan which I believe is what is fixed in FC3 it will only cover about 12 degrees of this. That is what elevation is for, moving in that +/-60 degrees using the amount of bar scans needed to suit most coverage in optimal time, obviously more bars take more time but cover more degrees, less bars quicker scan time but also less coverage. Like said before 1 bar covers about 3 degrees so the DCS MiG29 is covering roughly 12 degrees at 4 bars. This is all a generalisation but I hope it helps a bit.
  5. Real life unknown quantities such as the effectiveness of chaff against radar missiles boil down to the internet mention of 120C5 having 'improved chaff resistance' from previous versions such as the 120B. So ED logic here is SARH, chaff = it's Super Effective ARH 'improved chaff resistance', chaff = what chaff? Then go with gamey dice rolls to sort this out and these gamey dice rolls apply greatly to certain missiles and very little to others making the whole process a bit of a joke. The fact missiles and radar have been constantly evolving with improved chaff resistance since the 70s is lost here.
  6. R-27ER is very good against a mildly defensive bandit if you roll a yahtzee. AIM-120C is very good against a hard defending bandit unless he rolls a yahtzee. That is how fairy tale DCS countermeasure system is.
  7. In all likelyhood you were shot down regardless of side restricted external views.
  8. In sp set up mulitple non hostile passive contacts in the mountains and use labels. Join in a high flying fighter overhead and scan down noting how prf affects aspect and range, use medium prf to weed out the notchers. Take into account bandits range, aspect and build a picture, even those cold at 30nm. This will help you understand the mechanics of your radar and how best to find those hidden sneaks as well as get in to the practice of building SA. When you feel it turn labels off and give the ai some teeth and then learn to do all that but with your head out of the pit. Datalink is a lazy tool so easily available these days in DCS, it's a false comfort when trying to achieve air superiority so effective scanning is even more important.
  9. I don't think that means how you describe. There seems to be as much ambiguity in the real version as what we have in DCS. These systems I should imagine are programmable and tailored to suit the mission, as it is modeled now I don't see anything below that would increase situational awareness to justify the change. But increasing the complexity of it would such as multiple letters signifying greater detail. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2877757&postcount=1 П – облучение ЗРК «Терьер» или самолетами типа F-4, F-104 с одновременным включением подсвета для наведения ракет типа «Спарроу»; З – облучение ЗРК типа «Чапарел», «Вулкан» или ЗРК «Сивульф»; X – облучение ЗРК типа «Хок» или самолетами F-14, F-15, F-16 и F-18 (с больших дальностей); Н – облучение ЗРК типа «Найк-Геркулес», «Патриот», «Талос»; Г – облучение с малых дальностей самолета F-14, F-15, F-16 и F-18 или ракетой «Феникс» с РТС (возможно высвечивание сигнала Г совместно с сигналом X); С – облучение самолетами типа F-4, F-5, F-104, F-111 (без включения канала подсвета), МИРАЖ, ЯГУАР, ЛАЙТНИНГ или ЗРК типа "Терьер", "Кроталь", П – irradiation from SAMs "Terrier" or aircraft type F-4, F-104 with simultaneous inclusion of spike for aiming "Sparrow" missile З – irradiation type SAM "Chaparral", "Vulcan" or naval SAM "Sea Wolf" X – irradiation of SAMs like "Hawk" or aircraft type F-14, F-15, F-16 and F-18 (long-range) Н – irradiation SAM type "Nike Hercules," "Patriot," or naval "Talos"; Г – exposure to short distance of the aircraft F-14, F-15, F-16 and F-18 or missile "Phoenix" in ARH (possibly flashing signals Г together with the X) С – irradiation aircraft type F-4, F-5, F-104, F-111 (without including the illumination channel П), Mirage, Jaguar, nails of SAM type "Terrier", "Crotale"
  10. Yet they continue to update radar with inverted lose lock, slower radar scan update rate, wing fatigue, new dl display, remove instant vsl, remove dl from MiG29, adjust thrust values etc. Tell me again about that point. A feature, p2p datalink, works in single player, it does not work in multiplayer, that is the point.
  11. IRST does nothing for R-27ER. IRST lock will cue the radar to the target when the radar is switched on. When locking with IRST only and you then fire an R-27ER the radar will switch on automatically and try and aquire radar lock. If the radar is not able to achieve lock due to notching etc. you will remain with IRST lock and the missile will not track. Check the symbology on the left side of the HUD in EOS mode, with English cockpit EO is IRST and EORL is both IRST and radar.
  12. It was a great event yesterday but during debrief I think a lot of people either didn't see it or chose to ignore the elephant in the room. Having two fronts like this is tailor made for the Hornet to operate freely having access to shoot and run weapons such as HARM, Maverick and AMRAAM. This was highlighted by Red having to snipe ground targets from 10km with 5km ranged rockets, while Blue released a dozen Harms and several Mavericks. The roster for the mission had Blue with 18 Hornet pilots and Red with 4 Hornet pilots. I'm not sure but I think those 4 didn't turn up and Red gathered 2 or 3 Hornet pilots. Red not only had to contend with facing Phoenix, 120C and 9X they also were expected to dampen their fighter support and fly Su25T. This would have been better suited as a primarily Hornet v Hornet event, other options would have been to share Red and Blue aircraft in the roster equally or just have Red as an Aggressor. Obviously the latter is not what JW is about so maybe if you want to encorage A2G action with a Blue v Red vibe then maybe a single target area is needed to dampen the effectiveness of the multirole Hornet and allow Red to consider dedicated A2G platforms. Though on the other hand having two fronts is a much more enjoyable scenario. Another idea would be to include more ship targets to allow the Viggen more value and defending those areas more relevant. The current mission was a bit of a Hornets playground but I think that would be whatever the set up. Obviously Red didn't help themseves yesterday and could have utilised the Su25T and Viggen a bit more but the general feeling was air supremacy was going to be tough enough as it was. Reds poor start was partially turned around by some great work by the guys that were left standing and made some great viewing on the stream. I can't thank you enough for the hard work you guys put into creating these missions and appreciate the complexity of mission building for these events i'm just trying to give some feedback, of course this will be helped in the future with more multirole fighters being released, but for now some mission balance is required.
  13. Great event, thanks 104th. Look forward to the next one. Sorry that our performance didn't match the event as a whole. Good job Blue.
  14. If you are chasing the bandit what is happening here is the bandit is hiding in the doppler spectrum because of same speed of you and the bandit. PD radars have certain filters that allow these hidden areas much like the doppler notch. This is a radar feature and happens for all aircraft against all aircraft.
  15. Don't rely on dl, buddy up and own the fight and the airspace. Datalink is for assistance but start relying on it and you'll get a nasty surprise.
  16. There is no limiter on Su33 when aileron roll. Su27 has this working ok.
  17. Great idea and some valid concerns in there but the uses of the word meme and unnecessary attempts of humiliation on a dev trying to be casually informative stinks it up for me. This could have been done in a much more mature manner imo.
  18. Things to consider are the burn through range that would probably be much greater for the far more powerful AN/AWG-9. The lack of ECCM techniques in DCS at the moment that should be there that would allow the possibility to negate jammer effectivness. The lack of ECM power dedication and radar frequencies in DCS, an SPJ can't necessarily jam several aircraft and ground radars with the same power as they would against one alone as happens with FC aircraft jammers. With that in mind ECM is not black and white like we see in DCS, there is so much more to the EW conflict. Jamming in DCS is gamey, using SPO to gauge range whilst relying on bordering burnthrough to prosecute attacks is not great for realism simulation, a lot of work needs to be done to EW as a whole and is probably why so many full fidelity modules are missing these features. The day the Mirage locking on to jammers and getting 80nm range indication on the HUD just highlighted how much a joke DCS ECM is. These days i'd be more concerned about the magic missile tracking being highlighted by the Phoenix more than how ECM works with FF modules.
  19. This problem exists on the Flankers also, some weird things going on with varied missile payloads. For example loading R73, R27ER and R77 in certain patterns on the J-11 causes R27ERs to not be selectable until some R77s have been fired.
  20. Or they're just having fun doing what they enjoy with the limited time they have. The toughest skills to maintain in this sim is A2A combat and A2G in a hostile airspace, that is why high count mp is so popular. If you want to attract a crowd you have to appeal to both sides of the battle, therefore with the current DCS the colours red and blue are just that, colours. These so called airquake servers have for the most part detailed objectives, they are cleverly designed missions with the exception of a balanced plane set to attract numbers. Seems strange to me that there are servers out there that fill the requests for realism, but because they are not packed with players the realism purists don't join. Yet when they are in a server that is packed they complain about getting shotdown. How do you think servers become popular? Join it and fly it, get a couple of buddies to join you and do your bit to make your favourite server popular. But don't make it too popular or you'll be struggling to get to the AO without getting shotdown. The other solution is you can come here and piss and moan about other players preferences and the sheep that follow the crowd, like every other poor soul over the last 15 year that wanted the best of both Worlds. What DCS multiplayer needs is a player balancing system to help make realistic mission creation relevant.
  21. I'd highly recommend the 104th server to get your experience up quickly, plus plenty of experience on their teamspeak. If you want an easier ride take the Growling Sidewinder server. As for a dynamic campaign get discord and join DDCS you can find friendly helpers on the discord voice channel (being in Discord channel mandatory). Or go Buddyspike BlueFlag when you are a bit more independent and understand how to use 'Simple Radio' . Beware these dynamic campaign servers have payload restrictions, lives etc.
  22. Get yourself tacview then get online and get shot down a lot, the only way you're going to learn what to do after the first missile launch.
