  1. Given the choice for convenience I would run a windows one as our dedicated machine runs windows anyway. It would be alot of mucking about to change everything over to linux with little / no pay off
  2. Its great to see these flights on the server, currently 14 Hueys up for grabs :) Pman
  3. I've pledged my $50 Looking forward to getting stuck into this. Every project has to start somewhere and although Kinny doesnt have experience with DCS its not their first foray into the sim world. I'll give him a chance :) Pman
  4. I had considered it but its the cost of it that perturbs me I've done some Mustang A2G combat but not really looked at the A2A stuff till a flyable Fw190 is around :) Pman
  5. Until they start shooting back....
  6. Looks really nice Aaron, If only I was in the right TZ mate Pman
  7. Generally with my formation flying I set my manifold as close to the leader as I can and then work the manifold to maintain position along with cheating turns etc to bring position back, there is some moving of the manifold pressure needed as its impossible to stay on wing with no movement of the throttle at all. hth Pman
  8. When we are in formation we wont even consider a loop below 320mph Depending on how well trimmed you are at entry speed will determine how much rudder you need to keep it straight, pulling a loop is easy, pulling a straight loop not so much
  9. To get a straight loop in the stang you will need a good turn of speed leading into it and a thump of right rudder and some left stick to correct, done correctly you come out perfectly straight
  10. Categorically not true as I do it this way every time I start the Mustang, You just dont have the knack for it yet Pman
  11. The manual is technically correct, in a real P51 you wouldnt do the mags before using the starter but in the sim there is no real difference as fatigue is not measured over a period of time
  12. Spot on, to make taxing easier do not unlock the tail wheel
  13. That is very cool, That is exactly why I love running this server seeing stuff like this. I have linked your vid on our facebook page as tbh it has made me smile big time :) Pman
  14. Still got this? Pm me if you have Pman
  15. Yes it will have been, as will the other 2 modules they announced. However I wouldnt expect to see the F18C until the spring in Beta at the earliest Pman
  16. I cant speak about combat in the stang as my combat is limited to a few ground strafing runs when I have been offline. However I can comment on aerobatics and formation flying and I can tell you now that with the exception of one pilot, all of the leading formation pilots I have flown with or spoken to use pedals as it does give you higher degrees of precision Moving from a twist stick to pedals I will also say that it does. Having pedals does mean that you are able to make more precise control inputs. For example its 10x easier to give right rudder (or left in my case!) during a loop in the stang while left aileron and back stick with rudder pedals then without them. Trying to give accurate inputs with a twist stick I would say is almost impossible bar one pilot I know Pman
  17. Yeah there are few places for combat, We have alot of Mustangs on the Virtual Aerobatic server, if your looking for a freeflight, formation or aero work then we are always busy and there is normally someone around to help should you need or want it. If you are after combat then I'd say keen an eye on Merlins thread
  18. You should see how I land the stang, I turn base before I even go past the runway on downwind, turn in and im over the numbers before I level out for touch down :joystick:
  19. Thats true, but the FSX A2A handles like a tonka toy when airborne compared to the DCS one ;)
  20. I found having pedals made the experience much more controllable for me I wouldnt want to fly without pedals now
  21. Its perfectly possible to start the stang with the manifold throttle at idle Its just about timing between the ignition switch, the mags and the fuel mixture
  22. Hi Time, They are stored in the mission itself when you spawn the aircraft as the frequencies were controlled with crystals in the stang On the VA server we havent bothered with them as there are so many airfields in use that you can never cover the frequencies Pman
  23. We had alot of first timers on the VA server last night what a huge amount of fun! Come into out TS guys if you are unsure and hunt out one of the seasoned pilots and they will nearly always help where they can!
  24. Tracks are not 100% reliable Try not to time accelerate through them seems to help
  25. Generally as follows Increase RPM then manifold to desired setting in that order and when decreasing do manifold then RPM What settings you use largely depends on what your doing, I dont do combat in the P51 so I cant help there, but I do alot of Aerobatics in it, both in and out of formation Pman
