  1. Nice.... I spent my last 5 years in the RAF at Cottesmore on TTTE (Tri-National Tornado Training Establishment) working in ASF (Aircraft Servicing Flight) right up until it's disbandment on 31st March 1999, a sad day . Worked on all three nations jets. One of the best tours I had in the RAF. It was a great place to work, they even paid us to do it too!!! Our jets had no hardpoints on the wings though, they were clean, so were unable to drop any weapons. It was pure flying training for the 3 nations crews.
  2. Ahh ok, didn't realise. Hopefully we'll get the real deal soon then....
  3. I didn't receive this newsletter, and I have always been subscribed to them for years!. So I just checked my account and for some reason the system had un-subscribed me. Anyone else had this? I wonder if it was something to do with a site update on ED's side? Anyway, could someone fill me in on the contents please? as I doubt I will receive this one now...
  4. Have you guy's noticed the new forum header? Does this mean that the Mosquito will be ED's next release or am I reading too much into this? lol.
  5. Someone, on this thread I think, said he had read a post from a DCS Representative saying ED were looking at releasing the Mosquito before the Hind. He later tried to find the post but he couldn't. It was news to me as I haven't heard this particular rumour any where else. I guess time will tell...
  6. I've not had this happen so first thing that springs to mind as you say it mainly happens after a cold and dark start is your INS alignment procedure. Sorry if I'm telling you to suck eggs here, no offence meant, but I'll try and explain the INS bit just in case this is a cause of your issue. Once you get one engine running turn the NAV switch on the right console to GND if at an airfield or CV if on the boat, I'll assume you're at an airfield, so turn it to GND. This will take approx 8 mins to align, but you can click on STD HDG button on the bottom row of the lower centre display, second button from the left, and this will do a quick align taking about 2 mins to complete. Once you see OK on the lower MFD HSI page the alignment is complete then put the NAV switch to IFA. Otherwise, not sure as I haven't come across this issue myself, if I have the HMD as SOI, the TGP switched on and on the right MFD and if I then press the TDC designate, it creates a TGT point on the ground at that point and the TGP slews to it straight away. Let me know if any of this helps....
  7. Sounds similar issue except in my case I didn't have anything locked up, I just selected EXP1 moved the box cursor over an area where I was interested in zooming into and as soon as I release the TMS switch it goes into slide show. Pressing un designate wont work as I have nothing locked up.
  8. Ok, tried again this morning to reproduce this and got the issue at first attempt! This is an air start but the same issue occurs if I do a cold and dark start too. On the track I deliberately aim the aircraft at the ground as once in the stutter I cant control it and the track file ends up too large waiting on the aircraft to crash and return me to the server menu! and there is no other way to exit the aircraft as the stutter is extreme, worse than it appears on the attached track. So to keep it short and under 5MB so I can post it here i fly into the ground! Track does start at the server menu for a minute or so, just keep watching, issue happens almost straight into the flight.. I do have another track file in level flight higher up and the same issue occurs so its not an aircraft height issue, but it's just over 7MB so unable to attach it here. Hope this helps. EDIT : I've tried to replicate this in SP but I can not get it to, so looks like the issue happens whilst in MP only. Aerobatics Online Caucasus OpenBeta-20201220-105514.trk
  9. Whilst flying online on the AO server, Caucasus map set to winter and flying in VR I was using the Surface radar. Flying at around 1500-2000 ft 450Kts. Radar worked fine until I selected to go to EXP 1 and moved the cursor gate over some terrain to left of nose. Upon releasing the TDC to map the coned area the game entered extreme stutter as bad as less than 1 fps. I kept flying and it cleared after a few minutes, game returned to normal. I thought it may be a server issue although no other users were reporting any issues. I tried to reproduce the issue, it took a few minutes of trying as it only seems to happen over certain parts of the terrain, but I did reproduce it. This time I had to Ctrl-Alt-Del to task manager and end task for DCS. It was flashing up on the task manager "Not Responding", and the GPU temp started to drop. This issue is intermittent, and only seems to happen on certain parts of the terrain, I've never experienced this before the last update. First thought is could it be related to the map updates included in the last update? I was flying for a while so the track file unfortunately is huge! I will try and repeat it tomorrow to see if I can get it on a smaller file now I know what to do to try and induce the issue, however if others could try this out and see if they can reproduce too? I ran a repair etc. and will try again tomorrow meanwhile I thought it best to make a report now.
  10. A direct copy and paste quote from the Me-262 thread for those that may have missed this (sorry I haven't yet worked out how to quote a post or include a link to a post in another thread on the new forums yet!). " Dear All, I would like to stop the speculations about 262. It is not in development at the moment. I do not want to tell you which aircraft will be started after Mosquito. Right now we focused on Mosquito and we want to make at high level. Sincerely, Kate Perederko Chief Operational Officer " Sad news for the Me262 fans, but on the flip side some good news here for us Mosquito fans. Good to hear it's going to be a high level module.
  11. +100 for above comments, RAZBAM your pilot body looks fantastic in VR. Thanks for the work you guy's put into it, awesome. Also to have the Harrier taxi under Idle power with the nozzles aft is a great addition too, small detail but 100% accurate. I can assure you this is correct behaviour for any Harrier version. I had the opportunity to taxi several Sea Harrier FRS1's IRL whilst in the RAF following ground runs on the tie-down pan, if the nose wheel got stuck on the front plate tie-down point. While we were doing the ground run it was easier to just put the nozzles aft and release the parking brake and off she came. Happy days.... I'll check out the g-suit inflation next flight! Harrier is getting better and better all the time.
  12. 30GB here too, downloading at 6MB/Sec, looks like a long night! Why so big? Marianas map as a Christmas Present? lol
  13. No offence meant buddy, I'm actually looking forward to the Mosquito release and have been following any info on it, that's why I was surprised when I read your post. It was new news to me!. I was just half expecting the Hind to drop first as it seems the more complete module from what info has been released up until now. Either way I would be happy.
  14. Interesting. Where did you hear the Mosquito will be released before the Hind?
  15. That's an AI model on that video surely? I was referring to Wags doing a start up video or one of him flying the aircraft over one of the maps... similar to the Hind video he recently released. We have had nothing like that yet...
  16. No you didn't miss anything official, don't panic! But, it seems from here Patch Status - DCS World 2.5 - ED Forums (eagle.ru) that the next update to the Open Beta branch is the 16th December, now that's next Wednesday. As ED do monthly updates to the open beta now, and there hasn't been any news on the Mosquito since the newsletter on 13th November showing some great screenshots of the cockpit, but no external model shots or videos as yet from Wags, it seems logical that we won't see the old girl this year. In fact if I had to make a conservative guess, going off what we have seen so far and the course other modules have followed in their lead up to release in the past, I would sadly have to guess that she won't see any time out the hangar before Q2 2021 (probably towards the end of June would be my guess for release). I hope I'm wrong on this though, I really do! Not sure what others think, maybe Nineline can shed a little official light here if we are really lucky
  17. Nice Bozon. On a secondary note and getting ready for our up and coming FB Mk VI I've just treated myself to a copy of "Terror in the Starboard Seat" by Dave McIntosh, and a copy of "Mosquito" by Sharp & Bowyer. Lots of interesting "gen" in that one. Looks like we won't be seeing the old girl in the virtual skies in 2020 now I have to admit the last time I was this hyped for a module was the build up to the Spitfire release! that was a few years ago now!! As an addition to an earlier discussion in the thread about the Mosquito's speed advantage when I was firmly put in my place about the K4 being the supreme god when it came to WW2 aircraft, it says in a Preface in one of the books that "for two and a half years the Mosquito was the fastest aeroplane in the fray, friend or foe". Before I get shot down in flames, yes I know this was early in the war and before the birth of the mighty K4! Shame we can't get a balance on the timeline of the WW2 modules, as I have an awful feeling that our Mosquito will be just another victim for the "King K4" on multiplayer servers, whereas if we had a fair balance, and servers that covered early (should ED wish to release some early axis aircraft) and late war aircraft, the old girl may shine in her element once again...
  18. My first choice is a Mosquito, can't wait for the FB Mk VI that's on the way! Second choice would be a Spitfire Mk XXI with the blister canopy. Would be good to have a Griffon power version of this thoroughbred (Bit more of an edge against the K4 UFO module).
  19. This 100% I feel I have enough with the great all rounder, the Hornet. I would prefer if they spent a little more time on DCS WW2 and flesh out different eras in WW2, both European and Pacific areas, or even 1950's Korean war era to 1970's Vietnam. What we have now in DCS WW2 is a mix match of aircraft which are heavily in favour of the axis side (Bf109 K4 late war with MW50 Vs a 1942/43 Mk IX Spitfire springs to mind) making multiplayer interesting to say the least. I'm really looking forward to the Mosquito Mk VI but I fear this will just be more bait for the Bf109 K4 UFO version.......
  20. I think they are referring to the allied side only. Also when to Mosquito first went into service, they said it was the fastest aircraft we (as in allied) had at that time. The USAF were using them with Mustang fighter support, but they had to change tactic, as the Mustang couldn't keep up with the Mosquito!
  21. One of the best Mosquito documentaries I've ever seen :- Lot's of great interviews with designers and aircrews, not to mention great footage. Lot's of comments on there saying it was the fastest aircraft to fly in WW2. So I guess with our up and coming Mosquito it's going to be it's speed advantage that will keep us alive on a WW2 multiplayer server, the same as the Spitfire's turning circle can keep you alive when flying!?
  22. Only you can decide this and everyone will probably have a different point of view, but for what it's worth here's mine! I have both modules. I flew the F16 when it first came out but it's been in the hangar ever since. In my opinion there's so much more depth, and a huge amount to learn and master with the Hornet, plus lots of weapons and mission profiles to choose from. The latest Hornet update allows the HMCS to be used for ground attack too, a fantastic addition, not to mention the update to the grid system allowing us to input co-ordinates direct from a JTAC. You can now have eye's and weapons onto a ground target in seconds!. These latest additions have turned the Hornet into a great close support aircraft and made it into a true multi-role beast. Plus you have to learn all about operating from the boat and all that entails. If you have the Supercarrier module, this brings even more realism and immersion to the Hornet. It's really satisfying to nail those carrier approaches to the Supercarrier in daylight. Add night time or bad weather conditions and there's another whole experience to add to the module. I keep learning more and more about how to best operate it every time I fly it. So for me....I chose the Hornet.
  23. That site is a wealth of great information and Photo's. Thanks for sharing the link. Just spent a pleasant hour looking at it. I love WW2 history stuff like that...
  24. I've had 2 game crashes recently (in the last few day's) when approaching the Supercarrier for landing, always after a reasonably long flight which included AAR. First time was in the F14, second last night was in a Hornet. Always at the same stage, shortly after contacting the boat and just after the "See you at 10" call, always after a long flight. Both flights were on the Caucasus map and on multiplayer servers. After last nights flight I saved the crash log and sent it to ED via the in game option which pops up following a crash. I wonder if this has something to do with a possible memory leak too?.
  25. Ahhh, thanks buddy. Still no fix for the AIM-9X HMCS issue yet though :(
