  1. Interesting post Krupi, so looking at the screenshot with the radio aerial, this indicates that we are definitely not getting the Gee equipped Mossie. I wonder what the "historical accurate navigation system" is going to be then?
  2. This was posted in the newsletter way back on the 19th March prior to the external model rework delay announcement :- Features coming after Early Access: Rockets armament Radio units T1154 (transmitter) & R1155 (receiver) The historical accurate navigation system for WWII aircraft Controllable AI navigator and radio operator Going off the updated list given out in last Friday's newsletter with what we are getting in the EA release it looks like the T1154 & R1155 radio sets have now been implemented during the external model rework delay. However the latest newsletter doesn't state what we will be getting after EA release other than saying :- "We have updated the list of Mossie Early Access features and will be making additions in autumn." Going off this information, I'm hopeful ED will implement the remaining three items on the original "features coming after Early Access" list posted back in March sometime in the Autumn of this year, which should include the AI Navigator features. Fingers crossed eh. I'm still curious as to what the historical navigation system is that ED are planning on adding though. From the books I have read the FB Mk VI did use Gee on some raids so this could be a possibility. Having your AI nav operate the Gee and give you appropriate headings would be great! as would him saying " aww s**t, the Gee's just packed up - we're on dead reckoning from now on" as I've heard in numerous WW2 movies!!.
  3. Corrected!! (in a slightly embarrassed way )
  4. It can carry 2x 250lb or 2x 500lb shortened bombs in the bomb bay. The fins are cut short to enable them to fit into the half-ish length bomb bay. The rest of the space at the front section of the bomb bay is used for the 4 20mm cannon breeches. Additionally it can also carry 2x 250lb or 2x 500lb bombs under the wings, one bomb slung under each wing instead of the extra fuel tanks. So a total of up to 2000lbs of bombs can be carried, 4x 500lb or 1000lb in total made up of 4x 250lb bombs. I'm not sure about mixing and matching the loadout though, say 2x 500lb bombs in the bomb bay and 2x 250lb bombs one under each wing at the same time. Maybe others can chime in and confirm/deny this is possible. I would also assume when you drop them they all go at once and there is no system which enables the pilot to select just to drop the wing bombs on one target and the bomb bay bombs on another. Again, maybe someone else can chime in with this info.
  5. May be wrong, but I can't see the pre-order period for the Mosquito lasting that long (12 weeks), that would put the release into EA at or around 5th November. In the Pre-purchase post ED said they would be making additions to the module in the Autumn, so if the release is going to be in November which is around mid Autumn there wouldn't be much point releasing it then adding more stuff a couple of weeks later. May as well just hold back a few more weeks and release it as a completed module, without any EA. My bet (or hunch if you like) is a release into EA by the middle of next month, if I had to bet on a date....Wednesday 8th September (optimistic date) or Wednesday 15th September (a more realistic winable bet!) Now just sit back and watch all that go for a ball of chalk and we get a DCS Mossie in our Christmas cracker! lol.
  6. I recon you've spent way too much time reading "Terror In The Starboard Seat"!! If you ever want a nav on a MP server give me a shout, I have two good chutes under the bed somewhere just in case, and could do with a bit of entertainment! lol.
  7. Brilliant video, I cranked the volume right up and enjoyed it immensely. That classic Merlin crackle when it landed was just music to my ears! Great cockpit footage too. Thanks for posting this, not seen this one before. What a machine.
  8. Done deal. Really looking forward to flying the old girl.
  9. Got to love that new sig there NineLine! Is that snow I see on the Channel Map?
  10. FINALLY!!!!!! That clip makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end! What an awesome machine... Someone give Bozon a ring, he won't want to miss out on this news! Has anyone noticed just after the still shot taken from Flt Lt Sparks Mosquito on the actual raid, there's B&W in game footage of our Mossie dropping bombs on the Prison? I just noticed it, so real it's hard to tell the difference! EDIT There's actually several parts where the video changes from real footage to in game footage. The Mosquito taking off is one, the other when the photo aircraft is approaching the Prison to assess the damage, it again clips to in game footage!. Glowing Amraam has done a stunning job on this. Apparently this is not the release trailer either...there's more to come!!!
  11. Post order deal according to the dictionary is called a "Sale" Anyway, pre, post or indifferent I'd just like to see the old girl released!...News this week perhaps???
  12. My 2 cents for what it's worth is I can't see a pre-order period at this late stage. If there is going to be one it will likely run for a month or two before the Mosquito release into EA which means no EA release for at least another month or two from now!. I think ED were close to releasing it back in late march (see the 19th March newsletter with the heading title of "The Mossie is Coming") but the external model rework delayed it up until the present time, and there was no hint of a pre-purchase back then. I think they will probably follow along the lines of the P-47 release, no pre-purchase period, just launch it straight into EA with a possible 30% discount if you buy the module within a certain time limit say 2 or 3 weeks perhaps. After that it may jump to a 20% discount whilst in EA, then go full price once out of EA. Time will tell though.
  13. Some interesting info surfacing in this thread. Just to throw a spanner in the works so to speak, I was reading on the ED discord yesterday and the conversation was about the infamous bulged bomb bay doors. Folk were talking about what version we were to expect in regards to the bulged doors and most agreed it's probably going to be a TSETSE version and ruled out that we would be getting a bomber version due to the vast differences in the airframe. Then along came BIGNEWY and said "the bulged bomb bay doors were a feature of the bomber version!". As you can imagine this blew the doors clean off their hinges on the new theory that we were getting the TSETSE!. Most took this comment as a hint of a bomber version!. Now take this with a pinch of salt, I'm only repeating here what I read, and make of it what you will, but it may be worth keeping an open mind for now! Meanwhile, hopefully we'll get some news next week....this is dragging on now! the anticipation is killing me lol.
  14. The De Havilland Museum isn't that far from where I live, and apparently it's the only place in the world that has 3 examples of the Mosquito under one roof, and I've yet to visit!! Definitely going to make a point of going later this year. Yeah, this whole bulged bomb bay door thing has me confused too. Don't really know what to make of it all, but hopefully all will be revealed soon...
  15. What would be good is if ED implemented some form of VFR planning tool so say you (the nav) could work out headings, speed, distance, and therefore timings, track lines etc on a map of whatever DCS map you will be flying on for the mission. Then once in the aircraft have access to your flight plan in the cockpit via a window that you can bring up at the press of a key, and be able to scroll the map around within the window. Perfect for VFR navigation. Now this tool would be great for a Mosquito nav to have, the pilot wouldn't have to worry about navigating at all as the second crew member could effectively do all this during a mission. Using the F10 map is a bit of a cheat as it gives you your position (no point in navigating to headings etc when you have what is essentially a GPS!) and it's also, for me anyway, a big immersion killer. Not realistic at all.
  16. Count me in, and if there isn't enough module slots on the server to go around (due to the mass hype of finally getting the old girl in our hangar!) I would be happy to Nav for someone, just don't get us killed that's all! lol. This was the first thing that came to my mind too when I read it. Got to be a good thing though, I'm all for more historical accuracy.
  17. Look here what has surfaced today!! Awsome...THANKS ED!!!

    Check this out fellas!!!
  19. Similar thing happened to Barnes Wallis and his Upkeep project, they thought he was suggesting the impossible! Sometimes it's the very things that no one imagines anything of.....that do the things that no one can imagine.
  20. Great news, thanks for the update. Looking forward to seeing the old girl in her new dress! Hopefully not too long until we get to finally fly her now..
  21. For those that don't go on the ED discord channel or may have missed it, Nine Line posted this earlier today in response to a question about the Mosquito... "Nick has approved the new model, but its still being integrated into the game and tied to everything. Once its in, we can share more info, it wont be long." A bit of good news...
  22. Ahh, wake turbulence from the ship. Makes sense now, thanks. I never came across this term as I was RAF not RN. Closest I got to the Navy was working on their Sea Harriers at St Athan, but I guess the Harrier didn't have this burble issue either approaching the ship from the side as it did rather than shooting a conventional arrested landing!. Anyway, thanks for the clarification.
  23. Maybe I'm getting old or aeronautical advances have left me behind from when I was working on aircraft I dunno, but what is the burble effect?

That's a shame, I thought they may have added something as a bit of an Easter egg for us long suffering - due to the endless wait! - Mossie fans. I really hope they add this to the map on or shortly after the Mosquito release. It would be a great historical target to have.
