Good spot Cato

I was hoping Wags would release one of his tutorial videos on the HMCS, as he said he was going to in an earlier one. Alas nothing yet...

Anyone else notice the release trailer shows the cockpit with the new ARC-210 radio fitted? You can see it at 0:18 in the video. :)

Brilliant Trailer  Time to release the HOG!

[FIXED] HUD: A picture is worth a thousand words?
bart replied to randomTOTEN's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Correct, the ejection seat is on a rail/tube assembly and cannot move forward/backward at all. Also on the jets I've worked on IRL when moving the seat position up/down it's only the seat pan, the bit you plant your backside on, that moves up and down, not the whole seat assembly. This is fixed. Only way that should move is when the pilot initiates ejection. I think our seat position seems a bit too far forward too, you have to look right back to get to the FM radio and some of the volume controls. -
Gets my up-vote. Something I would like to see more of, not just in the A10-C II either. The virtual pilot in the F18 is very well done, looks great in VR.

If that's the way they want to play DCS that's their choice I guess. They purchased DCS modules the same as I did, and they are entitled to play DCS their way, just the same as we/I am entitled to play it my way. From a personal perspective, I don't even know what the key binding is for Auto Start, never used it. That should say which side of the fence I am on, but that's just me. That's how I choose to play DCS, it's the realism and accuracy that keeps me coming back. DCS also caters for all tastes too, you just need to look at FC3 aircraft. Personally I don't have any FC3 aircraft on my list, but again that's just me. Horses for courses I guess.

This :- https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4489630&postcount=65 Also being rolled out for the A10-C Legacy model we have too I believe.

It will release on the Beta branch first, so if you buy it and want to fly it on release day you will need the Beta branch installed on your PC. It will release onto the Stable branch eventually, but who knows how long that will take. Like others have said above I just use the Beta now, as I like to have all the toys on release day. :) Hope this clears it up for you a bit.

Interesting... I got an issue with the A10-C laser/TGP following this update too, see here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4497594#post4497594 Wonder if similar laser issues have been picked up in other modules?.

After todays open beta update 2.5.6.55363 when trying to drop GBU-12 using the Auto Lase function on the TGP and a lase time set to 10 seconds, there appears to be no count down to impact on the TGP following weapon release, therefore the Auto Lase function will not work. The laser fires immediately after weapon release for a couple of seconds and then stops. You have to intervene and fire the laser manually otherwise it misses the TGT. If I turn off the Auto Lase function and use the Latch function and fire the laser manually it hit the intended target every time. Bug seems to be the missing count down to impact timer on the TGP. I didn't have time to try any other laser weapons, just the GBU-12's. This was also on a MP server. I didn't have time to try a single player mission or flight.

[FIXED] HUD: A picture is worth a thousand words?
bart replied to randomTOTEN's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Just been on the Hoggit server. The seating position seems different to me, higher up, like in Wags Warthog II videos. The HUD seems a lot clearer to me too, closer/bigger font. I am in VR though and not 2D but it seems much easier to read than before. -

Anyone know if the fix was in todays patch and whether it worked? -
There are some screenshots here of that very feature! Time to get your cherries out :) https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/screenshots/572/

Interesting video. I guess that clears up a few grey areas on how the system works. One thing though...I wonder how much salary the driver of that target tow truck is on? lol.

Force Feed Back. It's under "settings" then "options" or "Gameplay" tab I believe in game, one of those anyway. Just un-tick the check box to turn it off.

Check this video out. Where the TISL panel was, there is clearly a blanking panel there now. The pilot is wearing a HMCS and some say the A10-C has a roomy cockpit but looking at this it still seems quite tight to me, the pilots legs seem close together and his knees are up against the instrument panel. I think we get a good idea of his seating position in relation to the HUD from this too. The windscreen side panels look like there's a tint to them, something else we don't have. Not sure if this is common to all Hogs though. Notice the speed, constantly around 300Kts. Only way I can get 300Kts sustained is with a clean jet, although the RPM gauges seem to indicate he is at full throttle all the time. Shame it's such a short clip, I would have loved to have seen a T/O and landing from this camera angle.

Good find. We both stand corrected. :)
-
This is my understanding too, only folk who purchased the A10-C before the II releases will have both versions to fly post release. Only my understanding though, I may have mis understood. Maybe BIGNEWY or NineLine could chime in with a confirmation of how it will work.

So will this one radio replace the other 3 (VHF AM, UHF and VHF FM) or will this become the main radio and what we have now become backup systems? EDIT :- "The ARC-210 is a family of radios for military aircraft that provides two-way, multi-mode voice and data communications over a 30 to 512+ MHz frequency range. It covers both Ultra High Frequency (UHF) and Very High Frequency (VHF) bands with AM, FM and SATCOM capabilities." So were going to one radio when the 210 drops?

Have you seen the video he's just released? Bumps and all!!

See the new pilot from the external view? with the HMCS helmet on, looks much better than the old pilot model which seemed way too small to me. They must have removed the KY-58 panel (which was non functional anyway) on the left console to make room for the new radio. Love the new seating position too, much better, and that HMCS showing the current SPI complete with wedding cake. That's going to be an awesome system to use. Great video!
