  1. Yes, you are correct. You had to pull the nozzle lever up then move it back over the gate into the braking position. I'm not sure how we can simulate this though on our hardware without making something bespoke. A bit like going from normal dry area on a throttle into the reheat range. On a real aircraft there is a mechanical gate to prevent inadvertent reheat selection but on my Warthog I just push it forward enough and it engages reheat......no gate. Yes the switch on the throttle for the 5 deg nozzle trim was Sea Harrier specific, the GR3 didn't have this.
  2. Not sure on the AV-8B/GR9 version, but on the GR3 and Sea Harrier FRS1 I worked on the lever was called the STO Stop. It had a sprung loaded plunger on it that engaged into holes on the throttle quadrant. You could say set it at 60deg and when you moved the nozzle lever back it would hit the stop giving you 60deg of nozzle without looking at the nozzle lever if that makes sense? Its normal position was fully back, thus giving you full range of movement on the nozzle lever from aft (lever forward) to the braking stop (fully back). The Sea Harrier also had a toggle switch on top of the throttle lever (similar in operation to the boat switch on the Warthog throttle) which when moved and held forward or back moved the nozzles by 5deg from the set point on the nozzle lever to aid landing on the ship.
  3. Stunning screen shots there. Looking forward to re-living RAFG Harrier Force days in DCS!
  4. I like the fact it's disused. Good place to go and practice with a new module circuits and bumps! and a few hover tests when the Harrier drops. A quiet spot on a busy multiplayer server. Also a good range to bomb the crap out of it :D Nice screen shots SiTh, thanks for sharing them. Much improvement on the old map. Looking forward to exploring it all over again!
  5. Voted yes, I'd like to see this fixed too. With the Hornet and the Harrier on the way, it's no longer just the A10-C now. The problem is going to get bigger!. Hope they find the time to fix this.
  6. Keep a close eye on your temp gauges, if it gets near 100 deg on oil temp open the radiator flaps and throttle back. I dont go above +8 boost and 2800 rpm unless in combat and then my rad flaps are open.
  7. Noticed the H2O buttons here, are you guys implementing the water injection system too then? I take it the up/down is the switch position?
  8. Nope.....one here too! Cant wait for the AI Ju-88 to come out, something new and different to shoot at with the Spitfire :)
  9. Brilliant mod SUNTSAG rep inbound. ( EDIT....can't add to your rep buddy, system wont let me!) Look forward to trying this out. I'm surprised the V1 wasn't on the DCS Assets Pack, I don't even think it's planned as an official add-on is it?
  10. I can not get the mirror to work in either installs, so I'm thinking it's broken. Hope to get an official answer to your query though.
  11. Stunning shots, what a difference! Thanks for sharing them SiTh, great to have some real news on progress and appreciate you guy's sharing it
  12. Small world......I spent 5 years at Cott, before Harriers arrived though, TTTE :D Great camp.
  13. +1 for both from me too. Just to be kept informed a little would go a long way.
  14. I've been getting this too, the more targets I destroy the worse it gets to the point of a slide show. Others were complaining of a big FPS drop at the same time. I also get the same issue when others are attacking the ground targets too. It's been like this for me since the last mission change a few days ago (it was fine before this), so isn't related to the labels mod put on the server today. Like the mod though, makes spotting other aircraft and furballs at a distance much easier now in VR without spoiling immersion.
  15. Good work eekz, hopefully help us VR users in spotting other aircraft too. Looking forward to trying it out later on tonight.
  16. I had an engine failure in flight, so started messing about with the prop pitch on the way down. I found the aircraft speed bled off much slower with the prop pitch set to its coarsest setting (lever all the way back). I guess this is the prop almost feathered and in this position produces the least amount of drag. The prop still turned but speed management in the glide was much easier. I thought at the time ED modelled this really well, I was impressed :) Got the old girl down in one piece too!
  17. You're correct about the fuel cut off lever, and the engine......it's a Packard Merlin 266. Just found this....MH434! shows the start up procedure in GREAT detail!
  18. Is it just me or what?. In that video (great footage BTW) it looks like the pilot pulls the fuel cut off lever back when the engine fires? at 50 secs in, just prior to cranking you can clearly see the lever is forward, he then grabs it and cranks the old girl up, it fires and he seems to quickly pull it back (or grab the throttle to stop it jumping the chocks :D) However just after T/O you see the lever is forward again? Maybe the lever is put into the forward position before start up and is left there? On our IX we push it forward when she fires......I think that's a Griffon engine there, but I would have thought cockpit control sense would be similar on the different Mk's.

    2.x status

I can highly recommend the Normandy map. I'm currently having a blast with the Spitfire and P51-D on Normandy at the moment. 2.x can only get better performance wise, it's already come a way since Normandy launched and runs much better now on my system in VR allbeit with some sliders turned down. But the map really does still look stunning. I now am anxiously awaiting the updated DM and AI then DCS WW2 will be awesome. Yes, get yourself a SSD, that will help a lot. Hope to meet you over Normandy sometime :)
  20. 14 years in the RAF as an Aircraft propulsion Technician. Best part of the job? I got to ground run Harriers and Tornados, got to fly in lots of stuff but only 1 fast jet (Harrier) even got a right hand seat on a ground run in an F111 once., that's fairly close I'D say. Best job I ever had and would do it all again in a heartbeat.
  21. Ex-Harrier man by chance? Me too......happy days!
  22. Same here, big improvement in fps on Normandy in VR, and the tool tips fix was deffinetly needed. Tool tips crash grounded me in 2.1. Load times are much better especially when joining a server, and seems more stable overall. Good patch ED. Thumbs up for the latest patch from me. Looking forward to the up and coming AI fixes now.
  23. What I do is stay high, stay above 10,000ft on entry and exit of enemy held territory and fly the route at 6000ft and I concentrate on the navigation. I let the flight spot the targets and if we are not near a flak heavy area when they call a target, I tell them to attack and I watch them from above. Once they have marked the target (I'm in VR so target spotting isn't great from high altitude!) I swoop down and join the fun. I still get hit with flak from time to time, but I've managed to get back so far, 2 missions in. I have lost 1 wingman up to now, but he wandered over a town whilst attacking a load of trucks in a field and the flak got him...... he bought it!.
  24. ^This for me too^ Fantastic campaign, look forward to experiencing it in all its glory when 2.1 is better optimised. Meanwhile thanks for the extra option Bunyap, it's allowing me to play the campaign for now. Good point zionid made though in regard excessive ground units and low FPS.
  25. This is a good question by dburne. I've just finished the first mission in the campaign, and what I did was to map the kneeboard on/off option to my Warthog stick. Then mapped the page up/down for the kneeboard pages to a different switch I had spare on the stick, it then becomes very easy to look at the map quickly and flick to different pages whilst in VR. The kneeboard pages are excellent for detail on the route, they even give you the timings of the different legs, and I used this a lot whilst flying. Use large landmarks for navigation and positional awareness, particularly large woods as they stand out from a distance, looking at the kneeboard map and identifying the shape of the wood against the one on the map I found it easy to work out where I was in relation to it (bit like real world VFR nav!) Rivers are a good one as is large towns. I didn't use the F10 map at all during the mission. What an awesome campaign though, brilliant briefing material, detail is fantastic and really sets the scene for the sortie ahead. Had to use the F10 radio option prior to taxi though to get decent performance on my rig, but a great idea to include this option, well done fellas. Great work Wags and Bunyap
