  1. Which Christmas :D Weve been seeing a lot of Cacusus map upgrade and 2.5 too, my gut feeling is 2.5 wont be released until at least Q2 to Q3 2018, and mid 2019 for the Hornet early access. Yes, Im a pesimist, I find I get less dissapointments in life that way.....
  2. Good news. So someone without the Harrier will still hear that unique Pegasus sound on a MP server? This could open up the gates for all 3rd party devs to improve the sounds on their respective modules.
  3. On second thoughts buy it now, and go on a starvation diet until release. Just think of the weight loss......less weight in the aircraft = better hover performance, not to mention the saving in water you will have :D
  4. Ive got a Warthog throttle and stick so was going to map the little grey slider on the throttle, I think its friction control, not sure how this will work with the nozzle stop though. I see Jabbers in his latest video is using the left throttle for nozzle control which would work great if you can use the Hp cock gate as the nozzle stop, lifting it to put the nozzles into the rev position it would work as in real life except the lever would be on the wrong side of the throttle. As the TGP pod is controlled by the buttons on the MFD display I'm hoping to map these controls to be similar to the A10-C hotas controls to make life a bit easier.
  5. +1 to this advice. I had issues in the past updating GPU drivers, sometimes fragments of old drivers get left behind and cause chaos. I was black screening, locking up PC etc. Im running a GTX 980 on the latest driver (388.00) installed after using DDU in safe mode for a clean install and not one crash since.
  6. You could lower the visor in the MiG-21 by clicking on the bottom of the HUD. Not sure if it still works in the module today as I haven't flown it for a while. This is the first time I've heard it mentioned that you can do it in the Harrier module. Nice touch if you can though.
  7. Lol......great photo that.
  8. Sounds like the Harrier is going to be quite a challenge Great video review Jabbers, thanks for posting it and sharing your thoughts on the module. Much appreciated.
  9. Rgr, thanks SiTh...,
  10. SOH map looks good but in the newsletter it says this is the next map coming to DCS world. Does that mean it releases before the updated Caucuses map and therefore 2.5?
  11. Sounds like a good compromise, but doesnt unlimited fuel give you permanent full tanks? The Harrier doesnt hover very well with full fuel?

    For Zeus

Agree 100%. I've pre purchased the Harrier too mainly as I have a soft spot for the aircraft spending IRL 3+ years working on them. Also wishing to support RAZBAM with the development of the module, but I also have the same concerns as stated above. Time will tell how it all pans out.
  13. Good idea. Talking of water, I wonder if the OAT of the mission or the barometric pressure/airfield altitude will play a part in hover performance. Did RAZBAM model it to this level of detail I wonder? Caucusus in winter at an airfield near the coast + a light aircraft = plenty of thrust for a good hover performance but NTTR in mid day heat would be another story!
  14. Its called MDC or Minature Detonating Cord. Its an explosive charge facing out to cut the perspex canopy on ejection. The seat then leaves the aircraft with the canopy frame in place. Yes, RAF jets had this too, even the earlier Harrier GR3/Sea Harriers had it. Different pattern on the canopy in the earlier versions though.
  15. Here's what I do.. On T/O lined up with runway centre line, rudder trim set so Stbd on the wheel is at the 5 o clock position and elevator trim set to 1 deg up (first mark above zero on the trim gauge). fine pitch set on the prop (lever fully forward) and open the throttle smoothly straight to +8 boost. Maintain direction with the rudder dance, at the same time push the stick forward about an inch (I have a Warthog stick with a 850mm extension on it) and slightly to the right. Once the nose lifts gradually move stick back to the centreline and start to reduce forward pressure as speed builds and the tail lifts. As I get to flying speed around 1oomph relax the forward stick pressure to the neutral position and it just lifts off. Once airborne I trim the elevator to get a nice climb rate around 2-2.5k per min, undercarriage up and RPM back to 2650, and as speed builds trim the rudder to keep the slip indicator pointing at 0. Landing I fly the approach around 120mph with flaps and gear down and the prop in fine pitch as in T/O. Let the speed bleed off but no further than 110mph on approach and position yourself a couple of feet above the runway threshold then reduce rpm back to idle. Keep pulling back on the stick as speed bleeds off and it 3 points every time. Rudder dance to keep it going straight down the runway and brake VERY gently otherwise it will nose over. Once down to taxying speed I turn off the runway. Taxying speed has to be low when cornering because of the narrow undercarriage. I haven't ground looped for ages, and fly her with no curves set, in VR and love this module to bits. It's awesome. If anyone wants any pointers I'm on the Aerobatics Online server regularly (Bartman) either in the Spitfire or A10C - feel free to join in.
  16. Done, jumped on the band waggon too..... On a side note anyone else noticed a change in the module serial numbers? ALL other modules I've purchased have a 26 character number with a - in between, even 3rd party modules such as this one. I got a whole long 31 character list this time with no spaces, had to break out the glasses! why the change?
  17. Yes you can walk. Try the arrow keys on the keyboard, I think those allow you to walk forward/backwards. At least they work for me! I can use the rudder pedals to get the pilot to rotate left/right and up/down arrow keys to walk forward/back respectively.
  18. Same issue here. Wonder if they are waiting for 2.5 to drop, as all the campaigns will need to be tested on the new updated map and maybe it's not worth doing a fix for the old 1.5.7 - better off using this time to get the campaign working in 2.5 in preparation for a release? Just guessing on this though, but it seems logical. Some official word would be nice to confirm? The sooner 2.5 arrives, the better........
  19. +1 Well said.
  20. If you have the budget go for a TM Warthog Throttle and Stick.
  21. Well, I just tried deleting the whole saved games folder, and restarted DCS and allowed it to create another one. Started from scratch on my control bindings again (what a bind!) So far so good, looks like you may have been right Neil. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.
  22. Just been trying various things with this. I tried to delete the whole Config file in Saved Games and allowed DCS to create another. I set up my control bindings for the Spitfire no problem, but when it came to the M2000C specifically trying to enter a user curve for the throttle in Axis Commands the same issue happened. So I came out of VR and tried it again on my screen, this time the screen just went black (in VR I can still see the inside of the hangar. So this isn't VR specific, and seems to be tied to the M2000C axis control settings options, at least for me anyway. Worth a shot though. I will keep digging to see if I can find out anything else and post here as an update if I do.
  23. After adjusting control bindings and user curves on the M2000C controls tab in Settings and selecting exit I get no further game UI, just a view of the inside of the hangar. I have to then go to the task manager to close DCS. Also any changes I made were not saved when I checked following a DCS restart. This issue may be apparent if changing the control bindings on other modules, I haven't yet tested this. It just happened to me as I was adjusting the M2000C Axis Control Bindings. This is in VR (Oculus). UPDATE. Just tried it again and this only happens if I try to adjust an Axis Command, in this case the "Thrust" (throttle). I was trying to set up a user curve. The Axis Tune window opens, but upon closing it I get the blank screen, even if no changes were made. Just the inside of the hangar is visible. UPDATE 2 Thought I would try and make the changes to the M2000C in 2.1.1 and copy my config>input folder from the saved games folder over to 1.5.7 as a work around but I had this exact same issue in my 2.1.1 Alpha install too so it seems as if it's on all versions.
  24. Some good ideas here shagrat. Another thought is the limiter switch. If you look at the guide you can see that the switch is at the front of the throttle box. Its operated by the small bracket on the bottom of the throttle lever. On our old Harriers FRS1/GR3 when ground running them we had to be careful not to "trip the limiters", not good for the engine!, and if not careful it was easy to do this. You had to be firm but gentle when slamming the throttle from idle to max, one check we did was to time the accel of the engine which had to be within set limits, both on max bleed (nozzles past 30 deg which pressurised the reaction control ducts and therefore bled a lot of air from the engine LP compressor, left hand on the throttle, right hand on the stop watch, left foot pushing the rudder pedal to full travel and right leg over the stick pushing it fully to the right!! to bleed as much air from the engine as possible through the open reaction control ducts, then slamming the throttle from idle to max and timing the accel on the engine gauges at the same time, whilst being very careful not to trip the limiters!). We also timed it with the nozzles aft which was min bleed. At the front of the throttle there was a sprung loaded button that acted as the max stop, but if you pushed harder on the throttle you would overcome the spring in the stop allowing the throttle to move forward an extra fraction and trip the limiter switch (flicking it forward) therefore over riding the engine limiters and giving the pilot an extra bit of power to get out of a sticky situation, albeit to the decrement of the engine life. Obviously there's another control binding issue here as my Warthog hasn't got the sprung loaded button, so when it's at full forward travel that's it. I guess I would have to map the limiter switch to a normal switch on the Warthog throttle and compromise that way. Hopefully I won't find myself in a position to have to trip them very often!!!! I'm really looking forward to trying this little jet out!
