  1. Default is what I use with the 0.5 second delay to re-centre, I use it on KA-50, MI-8 and Hind. I use click and release trim but I think I will try the click and hold trim method when I am back home.... I did not like it too much when I tried it 5 or 6 years ago but I will have another try. I always thought it is also related to the throw of the stick that is simulated, The KA-50 has the largest throw from Hover to 270 KPH so you gotta be fast to get the stick back to centre before it accumulates onto the new trim position... I always thought this is why the KA-50 trim was so violent. The MI-8 is the shortest deflection from hover to full speed (2 diamond lengths on the joystick cheat?), this is why I think it is smoother on the trim as you can get back to centre quicker..... perhaps... maybe? Or is it just easier to hold the cyclic without feeling the urge to trim?
  2. Yes it stays where it is. The thing that the AP changed was the actual Tirm of the Pedals, once the AP is switched off, the mechanical trim is still held in place. In real life it does not matter, the pilot takes over and the pedals are in the perfect place for the airframes flight, he just sticks his feet in and adjusts and has full range of pedal adjustment. For the pilot IRL, it is a very good design. not so good for us simmers. A mechanical trim reset on the real thing would be a bad day at the office. One of the worst things with the MI-8 and I guess the hind is when you do a hard manoeuvre, the main rotor speed can drop, if it drops enough then all power generation is lost, Doppler, ALL APs the lot, Mechanical Trim staying in place is real good thing at times like this.
  3. I have not flown pancake for a long long time. probably 90 fps in heavy scenarios?.... perhaps. When I first got the system at the beginning of last year, I played DCS on my 1080 flat screen first, DCS FPS showed 160 fps with the graphics settings I used at the time and with everything full on it was around 120 fps! I was delighted! Then I put the VR headset on and I was right back where I started (averaging around 60 fps, but very stable at 45fps with very little dips below 45). I hate the frame rate but I love the VR! For me the new clouds knocked down my head room above my fixed 45 fps, usually I had a good 15 - 20 fps above 45 in combat/complex/multiplayer flight. Since the clouds I think I now have 5 - 12 fps headroom above 45 so I now see many more dips below 45 than I used too. I see this on all choppers but yes, more so on the more detailed FM of the hind.
  4. A long time ago when the MI-8 came out, We originally discussed this. It is correct, the AP has the ability to change the physical pedal position if the pilots feet are off the pedal (IRL) or in our case if we are not using/moving our self centring pedals. IRL and in Sim, the pedals can be physically offset by the AP when the Yaw Auto pilot runs out of adjustment range. If you watch the "show joystick" cheat screen. As the yaw runs out of adjustment a small "n" is shown (I think) and then the pedals are physically offset (automated) to compensate and create a new Zero point for the AP Yaw to work within. Off course this creates a disparity between our gaming pedals (spring centred or non self centre pedals) which can really cause the Sim pilot to run out of pedal movement at a really bad moment in the flight. If you want to avoid the problem do not use Yaw AP at take off, coming into Hover or landing. Also avoid using it during hard manoeuvres and bad weather. Generally I only use the Yaw AP when on a long cruise, I trim the chopper for flight at altitude and then engage Yaw AP.... I always check my pedals when coming out of cruise.
  5. Me too. In fact it is exactly the same as the MI-8 but smoother, disable the yaw AP unless on a long journey.
  6. Hrrrn... I do not like that model for such a critical role. A link to F410s beer money? Where I can donate.
  7. lovely! How does F410 need support?
  8. Same behaviour as the MI-8.... like forever. It is correct behaviour for the real machine which would work perfectly if you had force feed back pedals. Not so good for self centering pedals like mine.
  9. When is the MI-24 being added to the Jetseat? It is very hard work to keep the Hind in the air without vibration feedback. Virtual people are dying here!
  10. I have not flown today due to work. I doubt that loss of tail rotor effectiveness is modelled... but pedal input is very variable in wind. Very Variable..... running out of pedal variable.... probably just me. I was not thinking at the time to test it..... just fanboy mouth open and loving being in the VR Hind pit!
  11. I have a feeling it is a whole new level of FM.... I do not know really.
  12. Must have pedals for chopper work. You will never regret their purchase when flying choppers!
  13. Does not sound like any R-22 I have flown IRL.... those things are twitchy... rudders instant and always needing adjustment or correcting poor adjustments. collective constantly needs adjusting and then there is the cyclic!!
  14. Yeah I think aerobatics is out with this girl. The rolling landing is very nice and easy. Once the Hover trim is learnt and learnt as default, coming to a hover and landing will be easy too.
  15. A rolling landing is as sweet as it gets in the Hind.
  16. I think it is in one of the main menus (not hind Menu) Show controller positions or something
  17. I noticed on Wags videos that there was a lot of lift on the tips of the rotor blades, more so than I have noticed in any other DCS chopper Sim. The rotors form a bowl shape rather than a straight line from the centre to the edge of the spinning rotor cone shape, at the time I thought that looked cool. During one of my test flights I tried a low and fast flair stop and dropped into VRS, My attitude was level and VRS occurred just after the flair manoeuvre was completed, I dropped only a couple of meters to the ground and far too low to do anything about it, I dropped around 2 meters and hit the ground, sink rate was not so bad I thought. Immediately after hitting the ground I heard a bang and the chopper went into a full torque spin. I got her down and then she caught fire.... but the airframe was on it wheels squarely which is a good landing in my book. I hit F2 to examine the damage and do a full inspection, it was immediately obvious that the rotor had cut cleanly through the tail when I had dropped onto the ground, the angle of the cut through the tail made it totally obvious. So I guess we also have the new damage model as well as awesome rotor modelling. Later I was following a guy in the Hind (both of us in Hinds) and he climbed to do an inverted loop.... I watched the main rotor cut his tail clean off! Any one else notice this?

  18. Tilt the rotors in the direction of the turn, so in a rudder turn left, move the cyclic left. It helps keep the weight of the chopper evenly dispersed across all 3 (4) wheels.... critical in the Apache.
  19. Agree.
  20. It is probably beneficial to learn the chopper without the APs first and then use them once you have an idea of how the machine flies. The APs are very good though, very smooth is how they interact with the Virtual Pilot.
  21. Yes a superb module at release and with more to come. The FM feels great! At Hover it has a much better wheels light than the MI-8. Does it struggle to climb at high altitude in the Mountains?
  22. Yes 350KPH... I caught it just in time. 300 Kph is a good safe speed in the Hind.
  23. A very fast and smooth performer, with or without APs. The wings reduce roll rate quite a bit at speed.... which is very nice to see. Without the Jetseat vibration, I have dropped into VRS twice whilst trying flare stops, it is weird flying a chopper without vibration feedback.. I have not used any weapons yet.
  24. I do still see the FPS error that came with the new clouds, one minute its all working at 45 fps and hardly ever dropping below 45. Then I change Map or aircraft and suddenly I am at 27 - 30 fps constantly, sometimes it goes back up to 45fps after 10 - 20 minutes but usually a mission restart or reboot of DCS is required. I see this in multiplayer and single player.... All modules! For me, the hind is still performing well, I was flying on the Acrobatic server with 4 to 5 other Hinds and mine ran perfectly at 45fps. Now that I think of it! When I logged in and first sat in the Hind, cold and dark with no other Hinds present, it did run bad.... perhaps 27 - 30 fps, as I started up the Hind the FPS got better and better until I was fully spooled up and frame rate was at 45 fps solid... weird. Then a swarm of Hinds were sitting around me and all starting up.... but still 45fps remained constant throughout the entire flight time in that Hind. it was not until I changed to a new Hind did I then see a permanent degrade to low fps. I switched to the Gazelle to check and this was also in permanent low fps. I have the latest Nvidia Drivers and all the other updates before I downloaded Hind.
