There are pilot bodies in the F-14? How do you get them to show? I tried but no luck. I get the truly awesome mirrors with the pilots heads but no pilot bodies in the 3D pit... I have pilot bodies set as standard to on! I think it is time ED standardized its general menu settings and made them simple law in DCS regardless of what 3rd parties think! Pilot in pit as standard is just exactly that, if you do not want 3d pilots in your pit you untick it in the general menu!....... Is it me? Is there something wrong with me? Why am I manually having to switch on my pilot figure in the harrier when the general menu setting is set to "show pilot" in pit?

reported On Vortex Ring State from active Mi-8 instructor
Rogue Trooper replied to cw4ogden's topic in Bugs and Problems
With the Sim shaker Jet seat it is difficult to drop into VRS in the MI-8, it is a little like flying by the seat of your pants you could say. There are a few videos online of the MI-8 dropping into VRS IRL with catastrophic consequences. She seems to drop into VRS very smoothly. -
Door gunners for me. If I can get away with it, every time I will install two door gunners in the cabin firing out the sides as the chopper pushes into the battlefield.. The problem for the Hind is that the ground troops just do not feel fear, they stand their ground, keep calm and lay down the best firing I have ever seen from an assault rifle at 1000 metres. And if you know assault rifles, you cannot hit sh"t at 600 metres!.... let alone a fast moving target.

Weapons systems keep switching off??
Rogue Trooper replied to GunnyCook's topic in Bugs and Problems
Resetting Shkval during your target search? Switching it off and on again to quickly re-center? -
Thanks ShaunX, Yeah, I have a lot to look at with VR DCS. I think the time is coming to book 2 weeks off work and just concentrate on DCS as I am seriously falling behind in the VR world you guys are living.

The HH-60 would be the best S-70 version to have in DCS
Rogue Trooper replied to Lesser Panda's topic in Polychop-Simulations
Chinook looks awesome and is used by so many western countries, it is a must for DCS and is generally equal/better than the MI-8s capabilities.... but a nice simple chinook would be good. The standard CH-53 choppers just do not do it for me, However the pave low is just the best looking helicopter I have ever seen, including attack choppers! It just looks frigging awesome from every angle and it's looks are just as good as it's abilities...... and the name "Pave Low" what is that all about? soooo cool! The Pave Hawk could and would threaten the development of the pave low in DCS. But if it were the easiest and only solution to Pave... then yes please to the pave hawk! For standard medium choppers, the Merlin will wipe the floor with the competition.... all of them! -
Soviet/Russian Attack Helicopter tactics for the Hind?
Rogue Trooper replied to Andrei Dragovic's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
No... not at all stinger proof. For the amount of stingers fired, I would say the stinger pretty much changed everything the Hind was really good at, when looking at Afghanistan.... Without Stingers it is a pretty good chopper, as we saw in the stinger-less Syrian war! It is a bully boy chopper! I cant wait to get my hands on her! -
Thanks for the Sensor Fuzed Weapon description. Yeah but this is DCS, not real life. It is what we have. Every on line game I join is crystal clear blue skies.... it is only since the new clouds has this changed. When DCS is capable of being real life I will cheer loud..... But even then, the capabilities of the machine will still shine through. For sure BS3 will do a lot better in the modern combat scenario, with range, missile speed and defensive abilities.

If Redfor CAP lets one of these Apaches onto the front line. Just one apache, multi crewed and loaded with 16 Hell fires, It will either bring a mechanised attack to a grinding halt or seriously drop its effectiveness to attack or defend its gains. There is nothing special in the BS3 ED proposes... it is simply holding on with its fingertips to some sort of balance. The Bogey man is coming.
-
SFWs? The Apache attacking an area of tanks was its primary design, other war scenarios just happen to be handy for the Apaches capabilities. The "other" scenarios have somewhat hijacked the true intent of the Apache, but it's true thoroughbred tank killer instinct not only still exists.... but it is improved.

For sure Flir is not on the table for BS3. There is a lot more capability on the shark 3 than I thought there would be..... but I think I could learn to live with it. The Apache will clear the map of hostiles, in the right hands, and in the right weather and in the right team.... it will clear the map. FCR hell fire ripple fire will be horrific. We have simply never seen it before IRL. kuwait highway to iraq was terrible slaughter... but no ripple fire. BS3 will still be slow in its primary role, its missiles faster but delivery slower and per target. Nothing really unbalanced here, more trying to catch up with the future.

The pilot body will be a critical component for BS3. A chest/left shoulder mounted pistol, with a worn to metal stock would look good when you look down..... Hrrrrnnnn (t would look damned good.

The HH-60 would be the best S-70 version to have in DCS
Rogue Trooper replied to Lesser Panda's topic in Polychop-Simulations
However a chinook is a must for Bluefor. An MH-53 Pave low would be awesome. An AH-1W would be a must in my book. An AH-6 would also be superb. A sea king would be very much appreciated mind. For Bluefor utilities I would just prefer something better, something different, something European. My top list for yank choppers is just full up.... enough already. -

EC-145 perhaps.... I reckon the most advanced production chopper in the world. It is simply out standing on every count and that is "out of the box"..... nothing touches it. Nothing. The Merlin out performs any 60 and carries more passengers. Maintenance wise....... hmmmm..... it is certainly a goal with Yank choppers, but does that mean they are more reliable or do they just say it?... I dunno, there are certainly more American 60s than any European choppers, more spares? For Controllability and pilot aids then the 60 is yesterdays child. An advanced or special 60 perhaps comes close to the Merlin's/NH-90s automated abilities. Yeah, I agree the NH-90 is a rusty hunk. -
It is interesting how you find more and more the physical appreciation of the work load required to look to 6 IRL. soooo many more vid clips in DCS showing checking the work done to check 6. As above, does anyone notice as standard how you can look further back along the airframes spine..... possibly perfect? How does this Mod manifest itself, is it towards the end of looking back to 6 or is it progressive across the full range of head movement. I got an Apache inbound, head swing to slaved 30mm cannon accuracy will be very important to 110 degrees... it is important.

BS3 is a critical upgrade, as the black shark stands right now it is very capable, but when the Apache comes it will be obvious how weak BS2 is... hell, even Hind will show this. This is not a question of toe to toe Apache V BS2 discussion, but it is more each machines ability to work in a complex advanced battlefield without ever meeting each other.. All SP missions you play in BS2 are "tuned" to BS2 and low tech adversaries. All MP missions you play are "tuned" to BS2 and 1000 player aircraft as support. The Apache will need no "tuning" of the missions! BS3 will do a better job in "untuned" missions (true peer to peer missions)....... However, the Apache will thrive!

To set this straight.... and it simply amazes me that I need to keep pushing this. There should be no mistake with my discussion, The gazelles ability is superb when it comes to fulfilling its requirement to integrate into the Digital Combat Simulation as it stands right now. Its ability to survive in a complex modern combat zone is assured... there is no argument here. SP or MP the KA-50 pilot would love a Gazelle flying wing during a mission.... it is just equipped for the worst DCS can throw at it! It does need work on its flight model... it does..... always did! I just simply value something different, I value the weapon and its ability to hunt. The Hind FM will be superb at release, hopefully as good as the MI-8 when it was released. In the years that followed, the MI-8 became it an absolute legend in DCS. I hope and prey that the Hind will be as the MI-8 is now.. the greatest chopper ever released in DCS. The Apache will be true bliss to me, especially the machine we will get. Even without the radar it will be superb. Personally, However, I like any optically/laser guided missile based chopper, to have its optics/laser mounted on the roof of the chopper.... but that is just me and how I feel I can safely push the weapon into the battle field..
-
Do I get the feeling that the game as standard since 2.7 is looking further to the 6? I certainly have not gotten fitter or lost weight, but I can look back along the rear of my harriers left or right spine a lot easier and a little more more than I used too be able too.

The HH-60 would be the best S-70 version to have in DCS
Rogue Trooper replied to Lesser Panda's topic in Polychop-Simulations
Moving away from American airframes would work for me for bluefor. The HH-60G Pave would work... that would work real good for me..... something real special. I think the US just does not lead the world in general utility choppers any more. The UH-60s are just nothing special really. Building diversity on top a a average design just does not really get you any where special..... unless it is the pave. To much investment in stealth air superiority/bombers will stagnate chopper development. Europe dominates choppers in the western world. (I am not talking attack choppers mind). Ask the US marines. -
not planned or correct for version APKWS laser guided rockets for AH-64D
Rogue Trooper replied to CrashMcGhee's topic in Wish List
APKWS would work very well for me in my Apache mate! APKWS is green for go in this fanboys books, the more precision murder death kills I can achieve in a single sortie is just icing on the cake! -
Bringing a chopper over a mountain whilst moving into low level cloud was a superb experience. All visual references slowly bled away into wispy whiteness. For the VR user there is a penalty to pay in frames per second.... we VR guys have very little fps to spare. The new update surely costs me in headroom above my fixed 45fps.... but it looks great! The colour of the ground, the colour of the cockpit, the reflections in the glazing, the shape of the clouds (although lacking detail in VR).... the look of metal in the BF-109 is superb. Whilst us VR guys have suffered a little from this update, there is no doubt it looks fabulous, lighting in the pit is almost flawless. (spitfire has misty gauge glass mind). In VR at 50% SS, 1.0 PD on the reverb G2 the entire whole world looks better, crisper and cleaner than it ever did. If Vulkan brings 30 fps increase in VR I will be very happy. if it brings 20 fps then the 3090ti will be required. If it brings 10fps then I will have a long and expensive road to travel.
