  1. Yup, the F-35 isn't exactly a beauty. Or as John Farley (Harrier test pilot) heard it described "It looks like a badly opened tin". http://www.pprune.org/military-aviation/548696-harrier-replacement.html
  2. Just a thought - is your graphics card overheating? Weirdness like that can sometimes be the result of a buildup of fluff, cat hairs and whatever else finds its way into your PC's innards...
  3. Doesn't turning the flight director on effectively turn off the heading and altitude channels on the AP, while turning on the flight director cues on the HUD? If so, as I see it you are better off just turning the heading and altitude channels off, unless you actually want the flight director cues. I suppose it depends why you are manoeuvring - to follow the preplanned course, or to engage a target etc.
  4. I had a similar problem. The solution I found was to unzip both the original MI8MTV-STND-TEXTURES.zip folder and the cockpit mod zip folder, add the unzipped mod files to the unzipped original folder (replacing the old files where appropriate) and then create a new MI8MTV-STND-TEXTURES.zip file from that. (Don't forget to save a copy of the original first.)
  5. Yup, the consensus on the PPRuNe Forum seems to be vortex ring state. http://www.pprune.org/rotorheads/547045-mi-8-crash-gelendzhik-russia.html The third crew member has now died too. :(
  6. Yup. The Fw 190 doesn't have trim tabs, the entire stabiliser rotates.
  7. The off-centre gunsight is historically correct for Fw 190s (and Bf 109s too).
  8. Setting less than 100% fuel in the mission editor results in the front fuel tank being filled first - a worst case scenario (around 50%) results in the CoG being way forward of where it should be. Note that normal practice (per the manual) is to empty both internal tanks together, so this situation would never occur in normal flight.
  9. There is insufficient trim response to properly trim for approach speeds.
  10. 'Fuel management', page 93. On page On page 87 it clearly states that the pumps should be on, and the selector should be in "Auf" (i.e. both tanks open) position for takeoff. I can't see any suggestion that once the drop tank is empty, one tank should be drained before the other.
  11. I'm not sure how that is relevant to my post. My point was that the simulation fills the front tank first, and I think it may be wrong.
  12. As far as I can tell, if you select less than 100% fuel in the loadout, the forward fuel tank is filled first, and any remaining fuel goes into the rear tank - so for instance starting with 50% fuel (262 litres) fills the front tank (232 litres) completely, with the rear 292 litre tank then holding 30 litres. I wonder if this is correct, or whether they should be filled evenly? The manual isn't entirely clear, but I think it implies that both tanks should be emptied together until almost empty, and accordingly the 50% fuel loadout results in the centre of gravity being rather far forward compared to a normal situation, possibly making the lack of up trim situation when landing worse. Any thoughts?
  13. Nope. The Fw 190 (like the Bf 109) had no rudder or aileron trim.
  14. Unless I'm missing something here, I think that al IvanK needs to do is move his head position up - the gunsight ring is focused at infinity, and should therefore move up too. It certainly works like that with TrackIR
  15. The Hanriot HD.1/HD.2 has been released. The floatplane HD.2 version:
  16. Possibly. And the planned aircraft would be out of place on the map. And the existing map only covers the extreme southerly part of the Caucaus front anyway.
  17. Don't know - but you have certainly posted your question in the wrong place...
  18. Thank you Wags. It's good to see that you are listening to us.
  19. I think I've tracked down what was causing my problems - I was using an old Saitek RumbleForce gamepad as a secondary controller, and unplugging it has cured the crash. I've had problems with it before, and I should probably bin it...
