  1. Nope. This is different. That bug you describe is when you are parked on the ground. This bug is stuttering in the air. I have it too in 2.0.5. I just re-entered my starforce key for 1.5 and I wonder if it somehow screwed up 2.0. I only deactivated for 1.5 and never bothered for 2.0. Done. No difference. Please let me know what information could help.
  2. So no one posted a track and nothing happened. If you play this game you have surely encountered what is being described. I didn't realize that this was a bug, but now that I consider it, I do remember that gloc was not so quick in the past.
  3. Which Camel variant? And do you mean the Fokker Dr.I or Fokker D.VII? I love WW1 aviation, but if DCS WW1 started with the Camel and Dr.I it would be tragic.
  4. I rarely fly the FC3 planes, so maybe my opinion is uninformed, or maybe it is unbiased (you decide).;) What I see is a fatal misjudgment of energy states. The slower F-15 firing guns and then launching a 120C (???) is defensive. Instead of flying straight at the F-15, the faster Su-27 needs a bit of lateral or vertical displacement to turn his superior energy state into an angles advantage. Instead, the Su-27 made his greater airspeed a disadvantage because of the larger turning circle (as pointed out above). Fly to a point behind the bandit, not at him, and certainly not in front of him.
  5. That must have been fantastic. British ales are always a good choice.
  6. Link? The largest 4k monitor I see on their website is 32". All I can say is that if it's a choice between a 27" or 32" monitor, and a 40" or 50" TV, go bigger. It's kind of ridiculous for work related stuff. I tried to show my wife that I can easily fit 4 documents or spreadsheets on the desktop. She wasn't fooled of course.:D For DCS I'm mostly at 60fps on the Nevada map. Flying through the strip is epic, but frames drop to 45-50ish if I turn to look sideways. Like others, I don't worry about running all the highest settings. High resolution is the eye candy I enjoy most.
  7. There are air-to-air missiles that are designed to lock onto an ECM emitter, but, so far as I know, none of our air-to-air missiles work that way.
  8. Very nice cichlidfan. The larger computer displays I see advertised are usually 32" or 33". That must be a real beauty!
  9. I have no idea about that particular TV, but I'm using a 40" 4k Samsung and I love it. Even if I disregarded price, computer displays are too small so that I feel the need to sit at an unhealthy distance. The first 4k TV I tried did have a lot of blur for a flight sim. This one is much better. I get 60hz with a 1070 and an HDMI cable. The TV is supposed to be 120hz capable, but I don't know if a display port adapter would get me past 60hz. Be scrupulous about dead pixels. Newegg has a policy where up to 4 dead pixels is OK and cannot be returned. I returned two displays that had dead pixels near the middle of the screen. The third one still has a couple dead pixels, but they are in the upper left corner of the screen where I never notice them. These entry-level 4k TVs just don't have the quality control that you would expect from a computer display (costco had a members-only-online promotion where I gott this Samsung for $290 american).
  10. Let me be nitpicky and point out three small counterexamples.:P ECM prevents the Mig-29S from launching multiple R-77 against separate targets with TWS. ECM can cause ghosts to appear on the Mirage's display, even after burn through range. In the Mig-21, once you filter out ECM, you can no longer adjust the range-to-target on the radar scope.
  11. Thank you. I'm glad it will no longer feel like grandpa's Buick.
  12. Thanks. The news didn't say that:
  13. 1.5.6 won't update with today's patch. Tried the automatic way, then tried the manual method. Neither work.
  14. Evidence or source for this? I never had trouble with my old AMD gpu. P.S. ATI hasn't existed for a very long time.;)
  15. Maybe you don't have a choice, but that is pretty short notice! A lot of people are going to miss it.
  16. Great! I have enjoyed the single player version and will definitely give this a try, too.

F-15 is better at the radar game and the IR game, so you're at a disadvantage either way.;) With the radar and R3R you could engage a target you could not yet see, or which was not bore-sighted. Current R3R is indeed only good against slow, large targets.
  18. Sorry, there is no one realistic setting when there are dozens of different display sizes and resolutions.
  19. This news made up my mind on the Ryzen 5. http://www.legitreviews.com/amd-ryzen-5-cores-are-disabled-in-symmetrical-pairs_192827 I would like to meet the person who made this decision for AMD. Intel should hire him as their next spokesperson.
  20. Some said we should wait and see if 2.0 and impostor-scaling would offer improvements. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=140014&page=16 ED tried impostor-scaling and, in my opinion, it looked pretty bad. The enlarged sprites would blink in and out of existence at some angles. VR users seemed to appreciate them, though, and I accept their usefulness to accommodate new hardware. Where things went really wrong was when servers were allowed to force clients into using a specific impostor-scaling setting. Giant, cartoon airplanes floating around in the distance became a common sight because servers were forcing large impostors (why???). If a new solution is introduced some day, I hope that paranoia over gaming-advantage does not force everyone into using the same setting in multiplayer again. We have thousands of different hardware configurations, and a little bit of wiggle room in how to represent aircraft visibility is a good thing.
  21. Here, I made a quick track if anyone is having trouble with the instant action dogfight mission. Note that I could not see the F-4 for the first 30 seconds because of the visibility problem in DCS. Mig21vsF4.zip
  22. Scissors variations work well, either flat or vertical. I don't think you'll beat the AI with a rolling scissors because the AI can maneuver below its stall speed. Once you get the bandit in front it is tempting to try to point your nose at him right away. Instead, keep the bandit on a fixed point along your lift vector, and work him closer to your nose inch by inch, aka lag pursuit. They must have been flying the Mig-21 we had a year ago.;)
  23. Since they changed the Mig-21 FM dogfighting the AI F-4 is very tough. It used to be pretty simple to just out-turn the F-4, but now they are very comparable in turn rate. The AI starts with a better energy state, so you have to be creative. Have you tried forcing an overshoot?
  24. You don't have to be a VR user to find it extremely difficult to spot aircraft in DCS compared to other flight sims. It's also easy to lose sight of aircraft when you have already sighted them. You cannot see and track what is not drawn on your display.
