  1. This is normal. I'm sure it'll work soon. Just wait for the next simshaker update.
  2. Your drawing shows a nice curve past the round panel, while the ED model has a significant kink right above the round panel. The real kink, if it can even be called that, is caused by a very slight bulge in the upper forward section of the tail.
  3. In my opinion, from a realism standpoint, the only reason to get the FSSB R3 is if you want to fly aircraft that have a force-sensing stick in real life (the F-16 comes to mind). All of the current aircraft in DCS have flight sticks that are moved physically and are mounted between the legs. I would recommend the Mongoos T-50 base, as it's easier to obtain than the VKB-Sim base, offers a similar level of high quality and offers plug and play support for Thrustmaster sticks (Warthog & hopefully Hornet). It also allows the use of extensions and is centrally mounted with the use of the separately sold desk-mount or a custom solution. The base and stick can be bought separately. The Mongoos stick is made of plastic but is of very high quality. The fact that it's plastic is only a potential problem on a force sensing base where excess force is applied. Thrustmaster has been know to sell stand-alone Warthog grips upon request.
  4. I'm not even a little bit surprised about the requirement for at least a 1070. Given the extra pixels and FOV that need to be pushed, it makes total sense. In DCS, even running with a 1080ti there is performance to be desired. 11 series cards will probably drop around September and I fully expect, and always have expected, to need one to power the Pimax 8k headset in DCS. It's not a waste of money, if it means a dramatically improved experience.
  5. Where exactly do you see the pronounced "kink" as in OP's screenshot?
  6. I didn't turn deferred shading off even when it was possible, because quite frankly, it looked terrible. I think performance has improved markedly since deferred shading was introduced.
  7. Latest Update from PIMAX (31st July):
  8. Yes :) From the the 8th of June newsletter:
  9. Try putting in the IP manually. It almost never pops up in the list for me.
  10. You have a replica of the Warthog Throttle with the speedbrake assigned to the same button as in the real aircraft. Why would you want to assign it to something else?
  11. I concur. Next generation Nvidia is rumoured to drop end of August / September, in which case you'll see a price drop for the 1080ti. So you can pick it up cheaper or go all out and get the 1180
  12. Great mod Toby! This really is a bug fix and not just a change of tint. I hope ED take note and fix this in the next patch.
  13. Who the hell is voting "no"??? You monsters!
  14. Why did they come up with such a cumbersome solution instead of just assigning a controller button to right click?
  15. Sorry, but what a load of BS. VR is very much a priority for ED. Whenever they show DCS publicly they're doing it with VR.
  16. I've done a mock-up of how it could look much better and true to life (see thumbnails, original for comparison).
  17. While you can of course "see" through the glass, the vision is obviously impaired. Contrast is definitely reduced, whereas I'm sure the idea of the tint was to improve contrast. And of course it looks very, very green. Basically everything seen through the windscreen is a shade of green, which impairs the ability to distinguish colour. All pictures of real-life Spitfires I can find of it show a very slight blue-green hue. This YT video shows it very nicely: Contrast is actually better through the windscreen and despite the green tinge, colours can still be seen in their full range.
  18. While I have seen many photos of Spitfires with this green tint, I have to agree that it is way overdone. Your screenshot demonstrates this very well. I have the feeling that it's physically harder to look through the windscreen. It's as if they put an opaque green layer over the windscreen and shifted the transparency slider to 50 to 75% or so. Therefore we lack 25 to 50% of vision through the windscreen. Photo courtesy of toby23 As you can see, the green tint is far less pronounced in the real cockpit. The propeller blades still appear black, whereas everything is green in DCS. The tint should improve visibility through the windshield, not impair it. I have noticed the same with many of the dark tinted HUDs. My feeling there too is, that they are using an opaque layer with a certain % of transparency, which impairs vision.
  19. Great, looks like any other stealth fighter. Is it jus me, or is all the aviation charm gone out of stealth designs?
  20. Is this something we might even ask ED for?

    Modern Air combat

Am I the only one surprised to see the MiG-21 included in MAC? It's the only third party aircraft in the list. Will this be the Magnitude 3 MiG or a new one built by ED? Or is Magnitude 3 collaborating on MAC?
  22. I agree with the general sentiment here. While the F-16 would be a huge addition to DCS, we've already been blessed with F/A-18. I'd love to see another old-school aircraft such as the F-4 come sooner rather than later. Would also go wonderfully with a Vietnam map from which a number of modules would also profit (UH-1, MiG-19, F-5E, MiG-21).
  23. Ah yes, I see what you mean now. Good job on your custome livery. Type C.1 roundel looks right now. I had a look at the liveries in game and also took some screenshots. They clearly show the following problems: Wrong colours: "RAF Standard" livery Incorrect type B (wing) roundel proportions on: "RAF Standard" livery RAF No. 126 SQN RAF No. 145 SQN RAF No. 16 SQN Incorrect type C.1 roundel proportions on the fuselage of ALL liveries
