At the moment the Harrier pilots have to use and find everyone waypoints on the servers. Would this be an easy change so you can set or delete (individual) waypoints on the F10 map.

talk me into water cooling
David OC replied to Harlikwin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Mostly for stable, reliability and quiet. No problems with an AIO for the last three or so years. Corsair H100i v2 Extreme with a quiet Fractal Design Define R5 Case. -
need some info about task manager/set priority
David OC replied to fitness88's topic in Game Performance Bugs
High is good when runnig DCS. Running applications at high priority may slow performance as other application get less I/O time. Some of us even force it to High and only use chip cores and no Hyper threading using tools like Process lasso just to make sure DCS gets eveything it needs.... -
Usability in the training missions is just horrible
David OC replied to Deny777's topic in New User Briefing Room
http://www.dcskneeboardbuilder.com Not sure if this still works? Hello VR, played around with it ages ago. -

Make sure you also checkout Chucks great guides for learning aircraft. (Not FC3) This is what I use + YouTube generally. Then manuals if I want to dig in more. FC3 controls are all very much the same. I setup one and save each control column, then import them to all the FC3 aircraft. Here is a video . Have you got a Hotas? -
She ain't no f16 - f18 fbw. You got to fly her and trim any changes trim. All hands on, then use auto p from time to time.

They are working on it. So is the mega dollar MS and their new sim and would like to see how it runs (When Done). The reason would "generally" be not for us but for ED mil clients with $ that want it for VR training. Embarrassing compared to what please? (That's as big [sacle], detail, AI as DCS is) Embarrassing post really. Pay for upgraded core? Small drop in ED's bucket compared to contracts that pay for these updates.
-
Yes ED is going to update the engine and this should help with VR. This will take some time tho, sims are some of the hardest things to do, so many things going on, bullet trajectory and hits tatectory need to be synced etc. DCS WAS not build from the ground up for VR use, like the little tiny games in the VR stores. DCS is the hardest things you can do in VR today, it's also the most amazing. Run msi afterburner perhaps.

Need Help with A10C VHF radios
David OC replied to Petercove's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog Tutorials
There should be an option in the radio menu -> OTHER. Correct radio setting, correct radio selected - other etc. Thats generally where you interact with a mission by someone. -
Like doing it manual. Try a 7 second quarter @180mph with one hand on the wheel lol. Very cool. It's a corvette with no panels. Twin turbo.
-
I play on a hardcore server, cannot see youself on map etc. that allows auto start. I do both and it depends, sometimes just want to make a coffee while it's starting up. Harrier just manual, auto takes forever, manual in the air under 2 min with basic loadout.

CPU overclock - is it truely worth it for DCS?
David OC replied to sirrah's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Some just really like to do it. For me it's about a real nice fast stable DCS. These days I'm just running 4.8 To get the systems (All parts) to have real good throughput for a very dynamic software, hard to know where the drops are, will be or when etc. So start with great motherboard, this ties it "Altogether" Good CPU / RAM / GPU My system is a bit old now, but because I went that little bit more and push it, say 20% more. It holds 60 fps locked, max settings @1440p on the largest server, it never rarely drops from that. Still very happy with that. Down the road when I see what the 30XX cards will do, perhaps 120 locked will be possible. Like VR, just don't want to wear a headset all the time when online and trackir plays nicer at 60, 120. Overclocking is just one little part to get max throughput. It's like replacing a turbo on a car, or more boost, without putting the appropriate exhaust and cooling etc. (throughput) to maximize the mods. -
Newbie Updater problem
David OC replied to baldeagle611's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
1.X is very old baldeagle611. Perhaps try and install from new 2.5 (Not update), uninstall the old one if you need the room etc. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/ Edit: When you say downloaded the updater, do you mean downloaded the 2.5 web installer? If so perhaps you have ran out of room 'Can't install to that location etc" Basic install is 60 GB, I'm at 233GB on one install. New pc's have small SSD's for operating system and standard hard drives for things, you want DCS on the SSD. I added a few more SSD to my build to have plenty of room. -
They should be there (IF) you saved them there. (My Missions) Open one and (save as) to see where they are etc. Did you click on the CA shortcut in the left menu and save them in there etc? All else fails, run a search on C: for the mission name or .miz files.

It's a simulation and can always be better somewhere, ED could work on it for ever. It's still the best simulation of the A10 before (10 years ago) or after these upgrades. It's still now the best overall complete combat simulation aircraft on the sim market to this day without these upgrades (10 years).
-
Much worse as the pixels are smaller. Many discussions about the technology used and how to have a good balance at all resolutions without cheating with spotting etc. If you go 4K you need a large screen / tv etc. Otherwise the pixels will not be seen as soon as 1080p (Large pixels). https://www.viewsonic.com/library/tech/monitor-resolution-aspect-ratio/

ED also builds these sims and systems for commercial app's. That's what pays for the majority of ALL the upgrades here. If it was only for us simmers...ED would be better off building goat simulators and making a lot more money and it would be 1000s times easier to build. They must love what they do right. It's also not just about bug fixes if you want ED to push forward to use the latest technologies, hardware and software. Some ED's code is also a zillion years old too and needs redoing etc. The GOAL posts keep moving and bugs keep moving along for the ride too. It is what it is and ED is still in business........ I do hope it can stabilize a little at some point once vulkan is implemented and tweaked some.

OK, Just minimal Drempel. If you have those modules.

"instant action" There are no missions at this time. Open in editor place an aircraft you own somewhere. Click plane icon on left: Chick on map Change aircraft to one you own. Skill: set to player You can also ramp start, turning point, etc. Play around with weather and time also. Save the mission.

Just remember, It's still a "simulation" of IRL. ED can only go so far as per $ / time and could theoretically work on it forever. Even million dollar mil's sims are still not quite right compared to IRL. Are ED's models the best in PC simming (Yes) Still good enough to be a D level sims. Full video

Things are heating up LOL. "Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store and has informed Epic that on Friday, August 28 Apple will terminate all our developer accounts and cut Epic off from iOS and Mac development tools. We are asking the court to stop this retaliation." https://cdn2.unrealengine.com/epic-v-apple-8-17-20-768927327.pdf If you think about it. Steam Valve are quite good and have no problems letting you do your own thing after using their platform for getting customers. They still take their 30%, then their happy for you to port them over to standalone or whatever and buy off your website. Lot better practice. Hope this ends up forcing Apple to do the same and open up that Phone platform, ecosystem etc.
-
Greed? Greed by google and Apple taking "everyone's" profits yes. This is about the monopoly with the Iphone's really. It's way over manipulated by Apple and they cannot go install at X website. Think about if we were not allowed to install and buy from ED's web store, only on Steam. (Or only at Microsoft) Would that be ok? That's a case right there I believe and will hold up. Even if that just gets changed they have won big time. They have 100 million downloads or something, so they have customers lol. Good opinions tho, lets see what happens here. 1.15...? This is in Chit Chat and can perhaps effect laws relating to DCS. Steam valve etc. This will all become way more decentralized anyway over the next few years. Now blockchain is coming at the banking system and internet head on.

Also not to worried about "World Scale" That would not work so good for ground level op's, chopper op's etc. Would rather a good balance with smarter ai and good node pathing, dynamic war campaign etc. That's the market here, mil systems, mil level flight models and weapons. That will move many from driving a sky bus and or have both. This new engine will help (Speed / Scale). DCS also just needs to get to a stableish smoother more consistent level and some weather.
