Douglas A-26 Invader/B-26K Counter-Invader
AG-51_Razor replied to VFMFlyer's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The Invader would definitely get my money!! -
Although I can say for sure that the mission of mine counter measures holds no interest for me whatsoever, the regular old CH-53E with refueling probe would be an absolute first day buy for me! As an old heavy lift helicopter pilot, I can tell you that there are two things in that role that are just universal; you never have enough power to lift what they want, and you never have enough fuel to take it as far as they need!

Anything with a tailhook will get my money! The mere act of launching from a carrier in really crappy weather, and then executing an instrument approach back to that carrier is all I need to feel like I got my mony's worth out of a module, provided it is done with the kind of fidelity that the Hornet, Tomcat and SU-33 are. Whatever takes place in between time is just icing on the cake for me!!

The attraction of a plane like the Kingfisher to me is not so much the plane itself but the feeling that DCS or one of the 3rd party developers would surely include the details of the catapult launch and crane recovery, in addition to the flight model, both aerodynamic as well as hydrodynamic, to make this a truly unique simulation experience. This is why I put the PBY Catalina on the wish list, knowing that DCS wouldn't do a half a$$ed job on that beauty!

+1 That would be a hoot!!

There is just something particularly beautiful about seeing an F4U-4 or -4B sitting on the flight deck with it's wings folded in a pack of several more waiting for the order to start engines. The symetry of the 4 blades versus 3 is much more appealing - to many it seems. Think of seeing an A-37 Apache sitting on the tarmac next to a P-51B and you might understand what Stratos is getting at.

DCS Super Hercules mod by Anubis
AG-51_Razor replied to Eight Ball's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Be sure that the folder is spelled correctly - hercules - with a lower case h. And, not to insult your intelligence, be sure that it is the Liveries folder in the Saved Games and not your root directory for DCS World. One last suggestion, make sure that after you extract the particular skin pack you have chosen - mine was the USA Skin Pack - that you copy and paste the skins individually into the hercules folder such that each skin is in it's own folder within the hercules folder that is located in the liveries folder.......that is located in the Saved Games > DCS Openbeta (or DCS World Stable version). -
As would I, along with a Corsair that never flew over Korea during that conflict but the Essex class carriers would be very difficult to distinguish between those that were fighting during WWII and those that were modified later and operated in Korea. The "long hull" CV's were not so easy to tell apart from the earlier short hulls and it wasn't until very late in the conflict that you saw one or two with their dual 5" mounts removed from the flight deck. Probably the biggest difference might be the various antennas above the island for updated radar, navigation and communication. I would really like to see a Jeep carrier (CVE) modeled for the Corsair as well!

The Corsair and Crusader are beautiful! Can't wait to start throwing my money at you!! Thanks for the Christmas update and I sincerely hope that you and your team have a very Merry Christamas and a Happy New Year.

I am much more excited about the apparent layering of the coulds than the actual modeling of the clouds themselves. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of the new clouds, but it's the different altitudes of cloud layers that we are shown in that video that really gets me excited to see the new weather changes!

Question About Employing the AGM-84E SLAM

I've looked back through several of these pages and watched quite a few video tutorials and can't find any reference to this question: Is it absolutely necessary to have the DL-13 Data Link pod installed if you are going to be using the Pre Planned Mode with known coordinates for the target? I have not seen a single video showing the SLAM being set up using the PP Mode. It's always been the TOO Mode.

This is going to be such an awesome MOD!! Thank you for the update.

Be patient. I am sure that they are working hard on it for the Mi-8 and it will come soon -
Well, regardless of whether you like their choice of the Apache, I think you have to admire the fact that ED was able to keep it under wraps so successfully for all this time!
-
I would definitely be one of the first in line to throw money at you for this plane!!

Awesome update ED! Thanks for putting in the late hours to get it out to us. Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to your whole team!

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion

I'm a little nervous about how I am going to manage a twin engine prop plane with just a two throttle HOTAS. Has anyone figured this one out yet? Currently I use one throttle for throttle and one for RPM and a slider for fuel mixture. What are you all thinking of for a twin, such as the Mossie or a P-38 or A-20 or JU-88 or, or, or?????
