  1. Oh Brother!! C'mon funny feeling!
  2. My Dad was a plank owner of the USS Yorktown, CV-10.
  3. Leave it to a rotorhead to use his imagination and come up with a plausable scenario right off the bat!!
  4. Thanks Silver_Dragon. The news about more AI US Navy and IJN/IJA aircraft is very welcome indeed!
  5. I'm not positive about this but I think that I read somewhere that M3 LLC was hinting at some AI opposition assets coming out with their Corsair. Absent this being a real thing, I totally agree with you Harlikwin!! They (ED) have indicated that they are going to release a WWII version of their Marianas map and if that is also a real thing, why do that without an intention to populate it with WWII assets - specifically PTO assets.
  6. rkk01, we are definitely in total agreement! However, there should be no debate whatsoever about Corsairs being operated off of CVE's in WWII and again, in an even bigger way, during the Korean War. The only discrepancy is that it was the Marines that flew them off the Jeeps, not the Navy. Maybe it had something to do with the size or composition of their testicals?? but most likely it was an upper management decision.
  7. rkk01, while I fully agree with and support your request for a carrier to go along with the possible F6F from ED, know that the Enterprise, CV-6, is the only Yorktown class CV that ever saw the Hellcat operate off it's flight deck. The Yorktown, Hornet and Wasp were all sunk before the Hellcat became operational. Personally, I would like to see one of the Light carriers modeled, if for no other reason than they are fairly forgotten in the sim world and their flight decks weren't much larger than a Jeep carrier, which would be fairly challenging. The CVLs' air groups usually consisted of F6Fs and TBMs and would IMHO be a unique and challenging addition to the DCS World's WWII PTO.
  8. Attack it! Or defend it. Or just fly in and play a few rounds of golf!
  9. You are correct in regards to the Corsair's deployment aboard CVEs during WWII. However, towards the end, the Navy was in dire need of more fighters at sea to help protect the fleet against the threat posed by the Kamikaze so a plan was hatched to embark Marine Corsairs aboard CVEs to provide their own close air support for the invasion forces, freeing up the Navy squadrons for air defense. It turned out that the Corsairs were rarely used for the CAS role because of their superiority as a fighter - much to the Marines' disappointment and frustration. It was during the Korean war that Marine Corsair squadrons began operating regularly from CVEs against the communist forces ashore throughout that conflict.
  10. If not already one, Chuck would make an awesome instructor. It's a very rare talent to be able to impart information - especially content that at times can be extremely dry and sleep inducing - in such a manner as to be very interesting, even entertaining sometimes. Thank you Chuck!
  11. Thanks Chuck. I guess I need to re-learn to read!!
  12. What happened to Chuck's guides??!! I have looked all over this ED forum and can no longer find his awesome guides anywhere.
  13. Thanks Donny, that helps a lot! I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about that control pannel below the HUD leaving an imprint on my forehead after a sudden stoppage in the barrier!!
  14. Thanks for posting that Santus. That's very encouraging!
  15. Yes, directly at it. Just outside of the range ring of the Guideline, according to the SA page.
  16. Just curious is all. I was testing some timing in a mission that I am building and found that the "2" code for the Fansong Radar doesn't appear on the HARM page while in the TOO Mode, even though it is displayed in on the RWR page.
  17. Hey Donny.....it's er........ getting to be that time again. I'm starting to break out in cold sweats and lately, my hands have begun to display a bit of a trimmer. Is there something you can do for this? I mean, just a touch is all I need.
  18. I'm pretty sure that the bridles in this case were not made of aluminium. They were steel braded rope with eyes swedged onto both ends.
  19. You are a star Sir!! Thank you very, very much!
  20. That is what I figured, but my problem is that it doesn't stay on the screen long enough for me to read all the information. My original post - clumsily written I grant you - was to see if there was a list somewhere with all that information posted for each preset.
  21. HC_Official, I appreciate the reply and the information. I would like to know more about the elevation/cloud heights listed for each preset. Specifically, do they remain constant and just go up and down with the base established in the ME. or do they remain fixed? I wish that ED had printed those METAR reports on the graphic display so that it remained visible all the time.
  22. I assume that they have something to do with the various cloud layers and/or cloud coverage but they never stay up long enough for me to get a good read on them. Does anybody have a print out of what they are for each preset and what they mean??
  23. These would be my choices: 1. Korean peninsula, from slightly north of the Yalu river down to northern part of Japan. This realestate has been fought over (as far as DCS World is concerned) from WWII through the Korean War and quite possibly again in the not too distant future. 2. Vietnam (Indo China). Again, WWII and the Vietnam war from early 50's (France) then 60's through mid 70's. 3. The Solomon Islands to include New Britain.
  24. I can't imagine anything cooler than for us to be able to plan and execute missions where we can provide our own organic tanking off the boat! KA-6, A-6E w/buddy pack or an S-3 would be fine, as long as we could have complete control over it.
