I am trying to use an infantryman as a FAC on the Normandy map. I have placed him up on a rooftop with commands to be a FAC, invisable and immortal. I also gave him an ROE of weapons Hold once I saw him plinking away at the tanks! First time, I assigned him a FM freq of 40.00 but he would not answer me on that. I then gave him a VHF freq of 133.00 and got him to answer. He is in fairly close proximity to a bunch of enemy tanks and he responds appropriately indicating that the enemy is marked by WP, which they are not, and then asks me to let him know when I'm ready for remarks and further talk on. When I respond that I am ready to copy, he clams up and never responds again. I have the date set to 6 June, 1944. I am flying in the P-47 with the radio channels properly set. Is there something that I am missing?

While I am frustrated and sorry that y'all are experiencing these problems, it is somewhat reassuring that it's not just me having these problems. I guess it's true when they say, "Misery loves company." :megalol:

Thanks for the explanation Guys

It appears that the labeling for the elevator trim is incorrect. If you trim the nose down, the indicator travels forward, which is correct but the label is "NH", which I assume stands for Nose High which is not correct. Conversely, when you trim the nose up, the indicator travels aft, which is correct but the label is "TH", which I assume stands for Tail High whis is not correct. I suspect that the labels are just backwards since if you trimed the nose down the tail would be high and vise versa. It's all of little consequence as the trim system does function as it is supposed to but seems out of character for ED to have made this type of mistake given the unbelievable level of detail they have put in the cockpit. I couldn't be happier with the Jug, even if I had to wait 5+years for it!! :pilotfly:

Thank you sir, for the reply. :joystick:

Since the latest update of OB, I have been experiencing some rather strange behavior within the ME. First of all, I have noticed that the liveries of all of my flights (clients) continually reset to the default for the Hornet and Tomcat. I can't say about other a/c since these two are the only ones that I am dealing with now while building missions around the SC. Secondly, I have noticed that the ME seems to be exceptionally bogged down when switching between one unit to another. It takes several seconds for the data page over on the right side of the screen to fill in. The arming screen is very slow to populate also. Am I the only one experiencing this? It feels like a problem with my computer, which has rarely been a problem in the past. But before I start doing something drastic like deleting DCS World and re-installing it, I thought I'd ask in here if anyone else was seeing something similar ti this as well.

Well, all that LALT + C does is switch between mouseview (trackIr) and the mouse cursor. I can not get that view up either :joystick:

It is described in this latest release of the CS manual. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4350900&postcount=7 LALT + C ??

F-18 landing gear warning keep ringing at 6000ft
AG-51_Razor replied to enceladus's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I don't believe that the gear warning system has anything to do with altitude at all. It's all about airspeed. -
They most definitely had Hayrake for use to find the boat but all naval aviators were taught to rely on good DR navigation skills due to the lack of reliability of anything electronic back in those days. :pilotfly:

Steam account link now available via DCS Account Profile

+1000! It seems like this would be more appropriately placed in the Community News forum. -
I have been successfully using the following Tacans for the 3 tankers airborne - 17Y, 18Y and 19Y

Awesome update! Thanks for that. Really looking forward to spending my money on your Corsair and Crusader!

This is the best EA rollout ever!! Starting with the exceptionally fast download just minutes after it became available, to the completely bug free (as far as I can tell) module, to the gobsmacking beautiful visuals. Thank you ED, for a beautiful carrier. It was certainly worth the wait. Y'all did yourselves proud!

I'm pretty sure that any of the static deck crew that you place in the mission will move around, shift their weight, look around, etc. Thay don't just stand there like a statue.

Navigation technologies in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
AG-51_Razor replied to Tiger4-2's topic in Pacific Theatre
As did I and I can say that DR (dead reckoning) navigation was not that bad. If you have an E6B navigation computer or have a virtual one online, you can be very accurate flying around in the virtual world of DCS or IL-2 and the biggest source of error is you not holding a planned course or airspeed and not minding the clock. The reason being that the winds set in the ME are constant throughout the map. Time, distance and heading are extremely useful in the absence of GPS or inertial nav :smilewink: Having said all of that, I would still like to see ED model the Hayrake radio navigation system  -
SUNTSAG - Lockdown Mods/Liveries Collection (New and Revised)
AG-51_Razor replied to SUNTSAG's topic in DCS Modding
It absolutely blows my mind that, 1) ED has a placeable TACAN in the Fortifications section that does not perform it's function and 2) a person outside of ED can develop a mod to make it work as it should. What the heck is wrong with this picture??!! Thank you Sunstag, for all of the useful mods you have produced. -
I can't imagine that it will involve any more than that - clicking on the Stennis and changing it out with one of the carriers in the list from the SC module.
-
Thanks for that BIGNEWY! At least we know that it's on ED's to do list  LOL Triv! The Super Boat will be here soon enough :pilotfly:

Decksliding / Sync issues / Rubberbanding fixed for release?
AG-51_Razor replied to viper2097's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
I believe that it will function just like any other module in DCS. That is, you can choose to use it in a single player mission or a multiplayer mission. -
+1000! It's really hard to see because it is almost completely nonexistant! I doubt that it is a Super Carrier module thing though. I would bet that it has more to do with the core of DCS World, or at the very least, map specific. Regardless, I wish that ED would enhance the wakes for all of the ships in DCS World.

As I understant it, they work exactly like the IFOLS on the Stennis.
-
If I recall correctly, back in the old Flaming Clifs days of LOMAC, the Kuznetzov had functional retractable chocks for the landing gear when you hit the U key while sitting on one of the launch points, much like the Stennis now. They would pop up and lock you in place while the JBD came up and once you came up to full power, they would retract and off you'd go. I believe that I saw these mentioned in a news letter or some kind of hype literature for the new Kuznetzov a while back.

That thing that blows me away is that there is already a beautifully modeled MAN Portable TACAN in the ME, both as a static object and as an AI object under Fortifications. You would think that it wouldn't be too difficult for ED to provide for the ability to set the channel when placing it on the map. I mean, why else would they have put that in?? :(
