  1. Ramsay, thanks for this discription. I do have a question though; how do you get the UTM coordinates put into the ODU?? • Add TGT Points 1 - 5 EHSD > Data Enter these Precise TGT UTM's as TGT Points 1 - 5 38T MM 96505 13181 96582 13074 96674 13005 96777 12921 96917 12793 This means nothing to me - other than I do realize that those are the UTM coordinates for the 5 target points. I don't have a clue what to do with them. You must realize how particular this Harrier is about the way you enter data into the UFC and/or the ODU and without some specific instructions about which button to press, in what order etc, etc, etc, I'm just as clueless now as I was before. You wouldn't insult me one bit if you led me by the nose through each and every step to enter those UTM coordinates. You absolutely cannot assume that I know anything about it - especially when it comes to the odd ENT button press, or Northing or Easting entry. Are they preceeded by pressing the 2 or 6 key? Are all 10 digits entered in one long string? Is the ENT key pressed after all 10, or each time a 5 digit string is entered? I have already tried a couple of these techniques with no success and it can be fairly daunting. Any help would definitely be appreciated.
  2. Thank you very much Gunnar81. I have printed this out and will attempt to get it figured out. In the meantime, I would like to return the favor by suggesting you watch these two videos by Deephack. The first one will explain how the CAS page is populated and the second one will explain what you can do with that information in order to employ your JDAMs.
  3. Is there a training video or training mission out there to explain how to put in precise coordinates to use for target waypoint such as for a JDAM? I have seen a video by deephack showing how to go about using the F10 map to mark targets and then "simulate" putting them into the CAS page by using R Shf + R Alt + Number 8 but that has a few problems associated with it. First, the coordinates are not that accurate and secondly, that method is only available IF the host/Mission Builder has enabled "ALL" with the F10 view. I am interested in knowing if it is possible to have the coordinates be placed in the briefing by the mission builder ahead of time to be used much like we do with the precise coordinates in the Hornet. I have not been able to come across anything that explains how to input UTM coordinates either.
  4. Hey man, whatever get's us through the day. Don't judge!
  5. D D Donny! It's getting to be that time again. I can tell because my skin is begining to crawl and I'm starting to get those night sweats again! I can hardly hold a spoon over the fire any more. Have you got a little something for me man?? C c can you hook a brother up?
  6. Here here!!
  7. I agree, size may have been the reasoning for keeping the F-4 and A-6 on the larger carriers. I would whole heartedly get behind a Skyraider or Panther module with my credit card. Korea is just dying to be done here in DCS World and in my opinion will be hugely popular as well as financially successful. Basically, all that's needed (at a minimum) is a Korean penninsula map, a slight upgrade of the F4U-1D to a -4 or -4B, an AD Skyraider and an F9F-2 Panther.
  8. No doubt Andrew has done his homework and come up with some very interesting facts about the angled deck Essex class carriers I was not aware of. I find it hard to understand though, the statement that the reason for the Phantom and Intruders not being operated from them was their weight while the A-3 Skywarrior was routinely embarked on them. That just doesn't compute. I am not doubting the accuracy of Andrew's statement that Phantoms and Intruders weren't operated from them, just can't accept that their weight was the reason. The KA-3 had to weigh far more than either of the Phantom or Intruder when launched with its full load of fuel, the fuel alone could weigh as much as 34,000 lbs! I am just thinking that there must have been a better explanation for why the F-4 and A-6 weren't flown from the Essex class carriers.
  9. It may be a long wait but one that will surly be worth it!!
  10. Anything with a tailhook (intended for use aboard ship) will get my credit card #!!
  11. Thanks for the enlightening response. It will be interesting to see what develops in a few years down the road.
  12. I have a question about maps - I think I understand what is responsible for the limitation on the size of the map, that being the amount of detail depicted within the boundry of the map. So, if you look at the Caucus map, the actual size of the area that you can see in the ME is far larger than the area that is populated with cultural detail such as roads, bridges, buildings and such. So my question is, if one were to build a map encompassing the whole Solomon Islands chain, from the northern tip of Bouganville to the southern tip of San Cristobal, but only filled in the cultural areas of the few towns, villiges and airfields on each island, as long as the pixels for all of those did not exceed the max limit, would that be doable? How much am I missing here? Not trying to be a smart ass, just want to get an education.
  13. I'm right there with you in that minority!
  14. I'd really like to see some kind of technical reference to this. I am a retired helicopter pilot and spent the last 29 of my 45 year career flying heavy lift helicopters equiped with various types of Automatic Flight Control Systems and never once in all of that time have I ever heard any kind of reference to the yaw channel of the AFCS contributing to the avoidance of LTE, either intended or accidental. While I can easily believe that you have experienced this in the DCS World of helicopter flying, I can assure you that no such thing exists in the real world. At least not in human controlled helicopters anyway. I can't speak to digitally controlled helicopter drones (with conventional rotor systems).
  15. Are you able to program that elevator trim wheel to an axis for trim? i.e. does ED have.....DOH!! I guess that since it hasn't been released yet, you probably wouldn't have the answer to that question just yet!
  16. I would certainly hope that getting the Bat bomb working is not going to hold up the Corsair's release! I don't think that it was delivered by the Corsair in actual combat very many times, if at all. It's an interesting weapon but without any IJN shipping for targets it will be of little use. The pilot of the Corsair has no control over the unit once it has been dropped so the team looking into it could easily continue to do so after the Corsair has been released into Early Access. Just my opinion.
  17. I realize how intimidating the Mission Editor can be, especially to those that have never even opened it up before. It might be like asking someone to use quantum physics to explain the Big Bang theory to a pre schooler! However, I would bet a fair amount of ED miles that once you try it out, with a little help from someone that has a bit of knowledge about it, you might just find it a little adicting and delve further into it. Building a simple little mission with your favorite ride in a new map could wind up being almost as rewarding as flying that module after you finish the mission. I would say it could be analogous to a model rail roader that spends more time building his layout (which is never really finished) than he does running his trains!
  18. Thanks to all for their help on this. To AvgWhiteGuy, I created a folder in Saved Games>DCS.openbeta>Liveries titled, "hummer" (without the quotation marks of course. And into that folder I placed the skin folder, "Follow Me Yellow" again, without the quotes. It works great and looks awesome. Thanks everybody!
  19. I understand what it is you are saying but I have to ask about the PG map. I used the yard stick tool in the ME and measured almost 1000nm east to west and a little over 600nm north to south. Now I'll grant you that much of that map area is not populated with anything and a lot of it is also covered with water. I don't see a huge technical barrier to producing a map that covers, as I said, " ... as much of the Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand area as possible...". I'm not asking for a super detailed map with all of the cultural features that might be there now, or even 70 or 80 years ago. Just a reasonable facsimilie with which to allow our immaginations to run free! A bunch of water to place Yankee Station in and a Forestal class CV to occupy that station would be a good start.
  20. I very much second this request however I wouldn't want the developers to stop at just a river delta. I would think that it wouldn't really be worth it unless they delivered as much of the Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand area as possible in order to provide for something a bit wider in scope than just a Fortunate Son's helicopter playground. This area was fought over from WWII up until the end of the Vietnam war in the mid 70's, at least as it would apply to our DCS World anyway.
  21. Cobra847, thanks for your input here! Just to be absolutely clear, when you say that the A-6 will arrive at some point after the A2A Eurofighter, are you referring to the AI Intruder, or an A-6 Intruder module??
  22. I couldn't agree more! I also believe that it would possibly lead to a whole host of additional areas of operations within the DCS World. Well said Mr_Sukebe
