I switched out the mission I had up there with one that is not using a script for the tankers. If you opent this one in the ME, you'll be able to see how/what you need to do to get your tankers to talk to you.

Try this mission. Basic Tanking and Trapping Export.miz

Did you build the mission yourself? Is it possible that the plane you put into the mission wasn't given the task of "Refueling"? There are 2 Vikings in the sim, one is a sub hunter and the other is the Tanker. It sounds to me like, if you're not even seeing a tanker in the comms menu, that there isn't one placed in the mission.

Nevertheless, a good IJN skin for the FW-190A-8 would be nice, as would one for the 109 as a Ki-61. That's what most of our pilots thought it was anyway when they first encountered the Tony.

Thanks!

I've got my hands full just learning to fly the Hornet and employ it's weapons PLUS trying to get back aboard the boat. I wouldn't argue against ED or anyone else bringing it to the DCS World but I have no interest in it. Having said that, I would be highly suspect of the flight model for this plane as I am pretty sure that it is still fairly highly classified. This is not to say that I would be too concerned about the accuracy of it one way or the other, just that a plane like the P-47, a plane that not many in this community are able to comment on it's FM accuracy, has been delayed for so long for lack of accurate data, it would be a laugh to see the Wobbly Goblin show up as a full on DCS module. Needless to say, I voted no. :joystick:

Where/what is the datalink pod you are referring to??

Thanks for all the help Fellas. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I'm trying to get something to happen by using the F-10 selection in the comms menu. Is there someone in here that can help me with this? Specifically, I want to be able to trigger a written, or maybe even a verbal recording (.ogg file) for an approach clearance by bringing up the comms menu and then F-10. Is there a way to do this?

I have both and can quite honestly say that both are absolutely awesome! Learning to hover in a jet is definitely a challenge! Learning to trap in a Hornet aboard the carrier is possibly a slightly easier pilot operation but to do it well and consistantly is another thing. Just operationally speaking, I think that the Hornet is just about on a par with the Harrier in terms of air to ground is concerned but the Hornet is way ahead of the Harrier in terms of air to air. I would say that, depending on what it is you enjoy doing the most, you should let that be your guide. They are both very well done modules and I seriously doubt that you'd be disapointed by either one. The only little fly in the ointment is the Tarawa. It has some warts that need some attention yet but I'm sure that won't last long.

Navigation technologies in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
AG-51_Razor replied to Tiger4-2's topic in Pacific Theatre
I asked about Hayrake (YE-ZB) a long time ago, back when just the P-51 was around and there was very little interest in it. I think that it would be even more important now that we are looking at the prospect of flying the Corsair off of a carrier in the Pacific. I really hope they model this! -
I agree completely however I would not restrict the map to just Gaudalcanal. I would include the whole Solomons Island chain. That would allow for the variety of mission types you mentioned.

+1 Very well said Hawkeye!!

Long before the CV became bugged, our squad adopted the policy of always unpausing the game prior to anyone spawning in.
-
It works beautifully in both single player and Multiplayer mode as long as you're the only human spawning. I placed 4 individual units of UH-1's and 4 individual units of Mi-8's on the Tarawa, as you would if you were using the CSAR or CTLD scripts and then had several of my squad mates spawn in. We all wound up on top of each other.

Thanks for the update Wags. Take your time and get it right.

The Turkey would definitely be the carrier based A-10 for a WWII Pacific Theater of Operations!

Thanks for the update Sir! Y'all just keep on doing what you got to do!

I have tested the Tarawa in both single player and multiplayer modes and have found that the Mi-8 now spawns on a numbered parking spot intended for helicopters  I put a flight of four on the flight deck with one as a client and never had an issue with a/c spawning on top of one another. I'll try to do some more testing with squad members tonight.

Well, at least they weren't cut up into scrap metal and melted down.
-
Just checked with the Mi-8 and it works beautifully!! Awesome job. Thanks.

It would be awesome if ED or RAZBAM could ever get human flown helicopters to spawn on the numbered pads!! I am completely baffled by their inability to get that done given what we have just seen the AI do.

You are absolutely right. I did miss the point of your post. My apologies :ermm: It's been happening a lot lately.
