Dear Flight Simmers, I recently upgraded my Computer from a i7 4790K to a 5800X and now from a GTX 1080Ti to a Rx 6800 XT. As I´m using a triple display setup with 3x 27”1440p displays. I rarely find information about possible improvements changing from one to the other system. So I went the expensive way and figured it out by myself. My resolution is 7680x1440 and with MSI Afterburner I´m checking the CPU/GPU utilization and FPS inside of a given mission to make it comparable. I will simply mention the percentage of improvement as I did not find the time to run several comparisons and visualize them with pictures. But anyway, my findings could give the one or the other an indication of what to await. Old: i7 4790K, 1080Ti, 32GB DDR3 --> 48 FPS (Basis), 99% GPU, 25% CPU (spread evenly over the 8 cores) Transition: 5800X, 1080 Ti, 64GB DDR4 --> 47 FPS (-2,1%), 99% GPU, 13% CPU (spread evenly over the 16 cores) New: 5800X, 6800XT, 64 GB DDR4 --> 53 FPS (+10,4%), 99% GPU, 20% CPU (spread evenly over the 16 cores) My settings are displayed in the attached picture. I did not play around so much with other resolutions, so cannot tell you the difference in 1440p between the systems. My default mission with the new system has 112 FPS in 1440p compared to the 53 FPS with 3 screens. The extra DRAM of the AMD card (16GB) was completely eaten up by DCS, like at the Nvidia one before (11GB). In a crowded mission in Syria (4YA server), even the RAM is filled in a good way (old: 30-32GB, new: 40-44 GB). As a conclusion I can say that upgrading the CPU was not really helpful. I expected this as the GPU utilization already was at 99%. But anyway, I thought the PCIE 4.0 and DDR4 could make a difference. I guess the frame times were raised but not noticeable. At the GPU upgrade I was disappointed. I expected at least 20% performance boost. It seems like the RX 6800 XT doesn´t like that high resolutions. Maybe something is thwarting my system but I didn´t find anything so far. If anybody has an idea to raise FPS with a setting I might not know so far, please let me know. Otherwise I will leave it like it is as my wallet is empty now and a new GPU equals the end of my marriage Take care, Xoxen

I was now able to buy a brand new RX 6800 XT for a slightly higher price. At least it was OK for me as I´m sick of moaning at the miners, watch the crypto market and the GPU prices on a daily basis. I´m eagerly waiting for it to arrive and will share the outcome. Edit: The card has arrived and it is fast in Benchmarks. But in DCS it is not that much of an overkill like I had expected. From a 1080Ti to this one is less than expected. Actually I see appr. 10% benefit. I´m actually thinking about my next steps. First of all I need to learn more about the Adrenaline Software etc. before I throw the towel

I have a Ryzen 5800X and also got above 80°C flying DCS. As I already have a good cooler with the Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro I really wondered about it. Playing around with the fan speeds and curvatures (CPU and SYS fans) brought it down now to around 60°C when flying, sometimes dipping the low 70s. I use the Arctic MX-4 thermal paste. So it is worth spending some time on adjustments. What is the cooler you are using? With the Box cooler I guess you cannot await much better results. Xoxen

Both Nvidia and AMD have to take care about gaming market. I would estimate the average PC player is not willing to pay that high prices in future. I guess this was the reason why the RTX 3080 originally came with a much lower price compared to the RTX 2080. The 2080 was around 1400 EUR which was by far too high at that times. Even today I would never pay anything above 800 EUR for e. g. a 3080, even though I have that money and love DCS. In my opinion it were the miners which bought the epensive GPUs as it was still lucrative for them. The majority of gamers will not pay that much in long term imho. I heard a lot of voices in the internet that the gamers will convert to PS5 etc. if the prices will stay like they are. For the PC gaming industry this would be the death in long term. OK, also there Nvidia and AMD supply with components, so mybe they don´t mind. But I believe the story is more complicated. My conclusion: The prices will drop in long term, maybe not 100% back to normal, but only slightly above.

Second shot here at the 8th of June, but knocked me totally out of life. First was fine, second brought me 39,4°C fever a whole day long, second day was moderate. I got 2x Moderna. Anyway, I would do it again. Was worth it. P.S.: The arm hurt a lot the second time.

If I saw it correctly in the WW shop there is the throttle without handles (Gemini throttle, $129,95) and the F/A-18 metal handles ($215,95) for a total of $345,90 + tax and shipment. Need to think about it.

Hi Kevlon, I would say it depends on. I just upgraded from a i7 4790K to 5800X and did not see any difference. The reason is I´m running a triple screen setup (7680x1440), respectively it is my GPU which is the bottleneck. I knew this before but thought having DDR4 instead of DDR3 would bring a small benefit. Indeed I have better frametimes now. But I do not really see any major improvement. My proposal is to use MSI Afterburner and check the utilization of your GPU. If it is not at 100% this is an indication that your CPU is limiting. If you are at 100% the GPU needs to be upgraded to see an advantage. I hope this makes sense for you. I´m eagerly waiting for the GPU prices to drop.

Moin zusammen, ich habe ebenfalls diese Combo und das Problem auch schon gehabt. Aber nur in "hot" Maschinen. Es gibt den Haken Synchronisation in den Settings, wie ein Vorredner es schreibt. Wenn der Haken gesetzt ist, mach ihn aus oder umgekehrt, da bin ich mir nicht mehr ganz sicher. Ich habe das Problem damit abstellen können. Im Zweifel einmal alle Settings auf Doppelbelegungen checken, das sorgt auch immer für seltsames Verhalten der Eingabegeräte. Gruß und viel Erfolg, Xoxen

Hi all, I just wanted to add information I was able to gather in the meantime. I upgraded my PC from i7 4790K/32 GB DDR3-2400 to Ryzen 7 5800X/64GB DDR4-3600. I should have listend to what MSI Afterburner told me. The GPU was the bottleneck as I was not able to improve my performance at all. In general the perception is slightly smoother and on a server I already broke the 32GB. So it was definitely a good buy. But in regards to FPS it was not benifitial. Maybe this helps others to spend the money into the right thing. I needed to spend money and GPUs are actually hard to get. So this was the best I was able to do. Great CPU. Take care, Xoxen

Hi Dustbag, what is the resotution you are playing with? The higher this is the less impact has a CPU upgrade based on my knowledge. Check with MSI Afterburner how good the GPU and CPU is utilized. If the GPU does not run at 98-100%, you are CPU bottlenecked the the new CPU might bring a benefit. But from a i 5 9600K to a 5600X I do not expect that much gain. Just my 2 cents. Xoxen

I was in the exact same boat, have the same CPU and GPU. I had 16 GB until I noticed I´m out of memory in MP missions. Today on a Syria Server my memory is filled up to 30 GB. I found the same memory on ebay and paid a resonable price for it. At least worth to think about it. FPS wise there was no benefit, only stutter wise, like Lange_666 already mentioned.

I have the same CPU and a GTX 1080Ti which I bought 2nd hand. Still performing well in quite high settings. If you plan to run WQHD (2560x1440) a smaller GPU should do the job as well. I hope DCS 2.7.0 will not have a negative impact on my saying

Ich habe mir mal die Handbücher des Orion angeschaut (gibt es bei wwsimstore zum Download) und dort sind auch die Lochabstände zur Befestigung angegeben. Diese passen 1:1 zum Warthog, somit kann man z. B. auch seine Monstertech-Halterungen nutzen. Der Schubhebel würde mich schon interessieren. Es wurde ja gesagt, dass der irgendwann einzeln rauskommt. Preislich sind $500 für das Gesamtpaket in Ordnung, wollen wir mal hoffen, dass die nicht den Discount irgendwann runternehmen......

Way off topic but really funny Would order it. But maybe someone has experience he/she can share. I´m still at Thrustmaster (cheers ) but start thinking about Virpil products. Therefore, I´m really interetsted in their Service etc.

I have the same issue, which started appr. 6 months ago and a played around with all availale energy settings and USB drivers and so on and so on. I was not able to solve this and am asking myself how to get rid of it? Drivers and Firware are up to date. I´m out of ideas. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks in advance, Roland

Great to hear. Regarding the buttons there are extra programs like Helios. I'm not that deep into it but if you search the forum you should find something.

So mine is already in extra time, bought it in 2015, except for the 1080 which I got 2 years ago. Its time for me to invest as well but prices are really bad, especially for the GPU.
