IDLE is below 100% output range
razo+r replied to Solo_Turk's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
What you are seeing here is a F-18 specific feature. It has two different idles, ground idle and inflight idle. Inflight idle being higher than ground idle. And you are locked out of ground idle as soon as you lift off and once you are back with weight on wheels, ground idles unlocks (but your throttles ingame do not automatically move to ground idle, you have to slightly move them to go into ground idle) -
@jackd Those attached files are all .miz files, so useless. We need .trk files to see what you or your Streamdeck setup did wrong. Have you always been using the Streamdeck so far? If yes, why don't you just... use the mouse to press the buttons... It's one press and then you never have to touch it again...

Do I need Persian Gulf map for this?

I'm sorry to say but this track proves the opposite. You do hold it steady far behind the tanker, and that is good to see, but unfortunately that's not the position where you have to be steady. First you are directly behind the tail of the tanker, way above the boom. Then you correct down, only to go wayyyy below and speed up directly below the tanker, again way out of the limits. Then you approach the tanker way too fast (that's why it goes through your cockpit), only to fall behind and below again. That's followed by you then being up the tankers tail again, trying to hook up to the boom from above. That all is far from steady. Whenever the tanker moves the boom, it means you are almost there. Whenever the tanker moves the boom back into the normal hanging position, it means you are out of parameters. The Boom getting into your cockpit shows you, as I have told you already, that you are in the wrong position or approaching way too fast, or you are not stable. The picture below is a random one from the net, but it shows you a good sight picture. The HUD frame is far from the fuselage of the tanker. You have to find something else to reference to. It is not broken. It is a "You do better" case.

You know, you could just look for a tutorial, skip to the point where the guy makes contact and try to memorise that view... That's a really simple way to see what a good sight picture looks like... And there are tons of examples around... That means you were out of the movable limits for the boom, you are too far forward. Simply slow slight down to get back into position to try again. Not really. It just means you have to get as close as possible to the boom. The tanker does move it a bit. The tanker is 100% rock solid steady. Any movement or chaoticness is caused by you. And like I said, if the boom is inside of your cockpit, you are obviously not in the correct position... There are hundreds of people having had a go at aerial refueling. Some had difficulties, but most if not all eventually mastered the art of refueling, at least once. You on the other hand seem to be the only one that cannot do it even after "hundreds" of attempts. I highly doubt that. It is impossible for the boom in DCS to move around if both aircraft are steady. Either one MUST move around for the boom to move around, and since the tanker is rock steady, there is a 99.9% chance it's you. Or do you have a short track of that too? Please don't take it personally either, but whenever people give you advice, you seem to ignore it, or as stupid as it may sound, you may have some learning difficulties. Obviously it's hard to know if you are actually following the advices or not, but since you keep coming back with the same result, it does seem to be the case. I mean, we cannot fly the aircraft for you or hold your hands, you would need a flight instructor for that. We can only give you advices based on what we see. How you take that advice and put it into use is solely on you. I mean, have you done some of the advice given here? You at least tried to increase the speed of the tanker, so yes, you did actually listen to the advice given here. Though I must say, increasing the speed of the tanker is not the magical solution to this case simply because that is not the root of your problem. But what about wake turbulence? Have you ever tried turning that off? In the tracks you posted one can often see you fly directly in the wake turbulence. At least try to avoid it, or turn it off. It will make your life easier. And what about trimming? You have to make sure that the aircraft flies as straight as possible, this includes not just the pitch but also roll axis. The tracks show you never properly trim your aircraft. Have you tried yet refining your basic flying skills? Manual speed hold and altitude hold and a combination of either? These are vital and essential to manual flying, formation flying and aerial refueling. The tanker is rock solid, any chaos conceived is your movement. Have you already tried tinkering with the axis curves? Everyone has it's own taste, try a few different settings. Are you 100% comfortable with your currenr setting, or did you just set them at the current value because someone told you? What about looking for tutorials? They will show you the sight picture you lack. So that's already 6 advices given to you well within context and quite clearly described what you should be looking for. And the biggest issue here has been adressed by various people several times here, and you yourself keep bringing it up. If you still look at all those advices, ideas and tips as "instruction without context", then I am sorry to say it but I'll have lost all hope in you. Again though, please don't take it in a negative way. It is as frustrating for you to see no progress as it is for some of us.

Let them first update and implement the dual method refueling, otherwise it will be just another KC-135MPRS...

Mig-29 landing lights are tilted left

correct as-is Mig-29 landing lights are tilted left
razo+r replied to AJaromir's topic in Flaming Cliffs Bugs & Problems
That is correct as per design. -
That's because the view in the F-18 is tilted down quite a bit compared to other modules. If you move your view up and save that as the new default view, that will fix your issue.

Seems to be the case. Their lights still turn on but they don't cast any actual light. But in the meantime use some of Massun's Flood lights that ED has implemented into the game. Those work.

I've watched your third track but it desynced when the tanker entered the turn so I can only comment up until that point. Here's some advice: - Trim the aircraft. Not just pitch axis but also the roll axis if needed. I see you constantly giving right stick. Just trim it... - Like Minsky said, you only set the speed for waypoint 1 and 2, all remaining waypoints had a different speed. So the tanker changing speed is because you haven't set it up properly. - Wake turbulence: Just turn it off if you can't handle it yet. - If the sun is such a distraction for you, why don't you just change the time of day? You don't have to make it more difficult for you...

DSMS shows no weapons only empty red boxes
razo+r replied to Zimmerdylan's topic in Bugs and Problems
Nothing has changed as far as I know. If you spawn on a plane with the weapons already loaded, the DSMS should already be loaded aswell. And you have already tried doing a manual DSMS load? Do you have any mods installed? Ran a repair? Can you attach a short track where it is happening? Are you 100% sure? The mission file with the correct name, what type of file is it when you hover your mouse over it? .miz files can be opened with winrar for example. Do you have it or a similar software? Could you upload your mission? That's usually only required for when you change the loadout on ground (not sure if also for a cold start but I would say so too). -
Best fired with at least 120kph of forward speed. The engines shutting down has been implemented since the release of the Black Shark 3 version, so quite a long time ago. Same happens if you fire too many small rockets without sufficient forward velocity.

Yes and No. Since you don't have any laser seeking Maverick, it's useless to have a lasing JTAC (you can still use the TGP to spot the laser though and use it that way). However, depending on how it is set up, the JTAC can also mark with smoke or IR marker, so you can still use it.

Compare the PCM indication from the manual with the one in the first post here. They're not the same.
-
What exactly do you mean if you say "taking care of proper angle"? 3nm is not a big distance and mavericks have limited maneuverability. Can you perhaps show a screenshot of the launch parameters when it happens? Or can you replicate it in a short track?

The Tanker is rock solid, perfectly stable. The only things that is chaotic is you. The Tanker varies 1m inbetween 30 seconds, and 0kph/kts in that time. You on the other hand... You are all over the place... Some things may help: Increase the speed of the tanker. 170kts is rather slow. Put it up to like 200 or 220, that will help a bit in terms of control response. Trim your aircraft. Make sure that when you are at the tankers speed, you have trimmed your aircraft. Airbrakes are personal preference. With them out, the speed will react quicker, but that means you also have to react faster. Your flying is quite erratic. You have big throttle movements and you never fly level, you are all over the place. Try perhaps learning some basics first. For example your speed, you can practice it quite simple. Engage Alt Hold and aim for lets say 220kts. Once you can hold that perfectly for lets say 10 seconds, change it to a different speed and hold it for another 10 seconds and then change the speed again. Make fine throttle adjustments. The closer you come to the speed, the smaller the throttle movements. And you don't have to go full throttle until you are at the speed and then go idle. Once you get closer, slowly take out or give power, ever so slightly more or less. Then once you can hold the speed, disengage the autopilot and fly level. Once you got that, keep your speed and climb or descent to a different altitude all while maintaining the speed. Once you are level, change speed and altitude. Once you learned the basics of flying, tanking will be simply, as you just have to stay at the same speed and level, two pretty basic things. But if you can't even do that, tanking will be impossible.

\DCS World OpenBeta\Config\View\labels.lua There are some lines in there defining the color in RGB. Change the values to your liking. Integrity Check may or may not fail, I have not tested it.

Fighting and operating the spitfire at high altitudes
razo+r replied to TED's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
One thing to remember is you have a 1943 Spitfire. It may has had good performance, but against a late 1944 109K, it is simply outdated. You can still fight with it, it's just the only advantage you have is the turn radius, that's pretty much it. If the 109's came from above, you will be pretty much stuck. Try to get an energy advantage yourself before the fight by climbing a bit above the bombers. But make sure the second gear of the supercharger has engaged and not that you are stuck in first gear up high. Another thing is that the AI flies perfectly, so that does not help your cause either (assuming you were flying against AI). -
You don't need constant 0 relative speed. You can have 1-2 knots more or less, some movement of you is okay. Important is only that you stay within the limits of the boom. And in the end it will be a matter of practice. The more practice you get, the better you will be. And remember, pilots get hundreds of hours learning how to fly properly before they learn aerial refueling, so that helps too. Perhaps try to focus on something different than the HUD frame, perhaps that helps. Everyone is different and has his own technique that works for him. Once you get contact, remember that sight picture, it will help you in the future. That either means you were too fast for the boom, in the wrong position or not yet cleared for contact. Tanker itself should stay perfectly straight, so it's mostly you. And yes, the collision detection is not perfect. If it were, you would have more issues than currently. Like I said previously, if he constantly banks, you have to change the setup of the tanker. He will not straighten out just because you want to refuel. Unannounced turns however is just how it is in DCS. We're still waiting for ED to improve it. In the end, it's simply a practice thing. We cannot tell you more than practice, practice, practice and watch tutorials. If you however would attach some short tracks (without mods), we could tell you more accurate tips for you.

LUU-2 illumination flares don't illuminate cockpit
razo+r replied to twistking's topic in Bugs and Problems
Can't you do it with a trigger? It should drop also a LUU-2, if I remember correctly. But I can already guess that this is an issue across all aircraft.
