You don't need to worry about that mate. The two screens will look like a single one to you. A the beginning you may experience some double vision from time to time but it completely goes away once you get used to it after about 3 weeks.

A new manual was very much needed. Thanks Baltic! :)

IR missiles have difficulties tracking helicopters. It's a fact in DCS as well as in real life. If you shoot a IR missile on a helicopter, expect it to miss very often.

Indeed, there's currently a problem when deferred shading is disabled the graphics on the ground look horrendous.
-
I did a test today with deferred shading on and off and it looks like you are right! When aircrafts in the distance look like dots with it off, I see nothing with it on. After trying the mirage missile fight quickstart mission on caucasus multiple times, the results were quite clear. With deferred shading on I got shot down pretty much every time and with it off I was able to kill all 4 opponents and succeed the mission consistently. Contrary to what I thought there might not have been a scaling in place that got removed but instead it's the deferred shading that is making things hard to spot.

I have always been using a PD of 1.0 so I guess it might explain why our experiences differ.
-
The thing I don't understand is it was already perfect in 1.5.8/2.2. I don't understand why they removed it suddenly...

We do, we use SRS and communicate quite extensively. Problem is that now I find myself passing by my wingman something like 2000 ft away without even seeing him :noexpression:

I am but the problem is that I need to know where to look in order to use the zoom effectively. It doesn't help much when I have no clue where my wingman is. It's not such a big deal when flying the A-10C because I can use the TAD but on other airframes having no scaling is quite problematic.

I have 12/10 eyesight so if he has a better eyesight than me he's probably in the top 1% :D

European hornets are the biggest I believe. Bigger than the ones in Asia. Go figure... :D I've heard Asian hornets were more aggressive and dangerous though.

I've noticed that pixel scaling for aircrafts and ground units in VR is gone in 2.5 Open Beta and it's a real shame. It makes things nearly impossible to spot in the Rift. I flew with a friend last night and I couldn't maintain a wide formation with him. He wasn't even a mile out that I started losing sight of him, every time. Rejoins took several minutes and were a nightmare. Pretty much ruined the flight for me. I don't know why scaling got suddenly removed. Its implementation in 1.5/2.2 was pretty much perfect. It was highly effective yet very smooth and natural looking at the same time. I now have deferred shading enabled, unlike in 1.5/2.2 where I kept it off but I doubt it has anything to do with this... Anyway I hope ED will bring back the good old scaling in 2.5 release version ! Edit: Looks like there's no scaling involved and it's the deferred shading that's causing the trouble.

It's pretty annoying for me too. I have a Rift and even though I don't get the left / right eye issue, the menu is displayed extremely close to my face with "force ipd" enabled and at the proper setting (I have a correct measurement of my IPD). It just adds unnecessary eye strain when browsing menus so I decided to keep it off.

Salut !

You're running both steam and standalone installs of the same version? -
Wrong link.

Just want to say thanks to everybody who organized and joined the event! I had an awesome time flying and fighting with you all!

If possible, Sacha and I would like to be in the same package. Sorry for not having said it earlier.

Another one to add to the list: On the V/UHF panel: selecting Pal+G should give (as far as I know) the ability to transmit and receive on the currently selected channel and the ability to receive on the guard channel (243MHz).

Any info on this? This bug happened to me today and it was kind of frustrating, right in the middle of a flight... I was in a dive at Mach 1.27 and the aircraft started shaking violently. It didn't flip over but exploded a few seconds later. :noexpression:

FM update was the most urgent of all so they had to release it ahead of everything else. In any case, you guys are right major things still need to be done, mostly on avionics and sounds I would say.

The "training" campaigns we have currently are more tests than lessons. Basically they are kinda like taking an exam at school and they are pretty tough. On the other hand they will give you a precise idea of what you need to learn to master the aircraft. I would recommend checking them out but once you are already familiar with the aircraft and its systems. As far as not overflying the target, you don't want to stick to this advice too hard. Yes, it's better to not overfly the target if you can but sometimes you simply have no choice.

Yup, that's exactly right. It makes a big difference though.
