THe link to Google drive is not working anymore, can someone post a link or update the OP?

Not to mention that they're still working on both aircraft. Nineline recently posted a comment that the P-47 just made a move forward a few posts above.

[REPORTED] AI aircraft not using drop tank fuel
71st_AH Rob replied to DeepDrummer's topic in Bugs and Problems
The point is not to fly long missions though, but to confirm/disprove the suspicion that AI wingmen are/are not using the drop tanks. This may be moot given the recent patch if it addressed the fuel system in the Spitfire. Nineline, you may find you can shorten your flight by reducing the internal fuel load to 20% say of all the a/c in the flight including one with no drop tanks as a control. For clarification I have not tried the torpedo tanks yet. -
[REPORTED] AI aircraft not using drop tank fuel

Yes, they call bingo and if you do not order them to RTB shorty after that they will call ejecting and bail out. In the case where it happened to me, we were already halfway across the channel inbound for Funtington after escorting a strike flight against a target fairly far inland when the AI no 4 in our flight called bingo and by the time we were feet dry he bailed out. All three human a/c in the flight managed to land with fuel remaining. -
[REPORTED] AI aircraft not using drop tank fuel

One hour should be no problem with no drop tanks at all unless you were to start with less than 100% fuel load for the internal tanks. -
Alternatively you can run the skip mission batch file and then go to the campaign maker and select those two files as the campaign and it will generate the required.cmp file.
-
You are missing some files. There should be a file called Deser_Tiger_76.cmp that you will need to open up and edit with Notepad++. The path will be wrong since it was set up for DCS Open Alpha. Not at my computer right now but maybe another file in the unit folder inside the Desert Tiger 76 folder might need to be edited as well.

[REPORTED] AI aircraft not using drop tank fuel

Not likely to happen until after the long weekend, working on Sabres right now, but I will try to save a track if we do. -

Don't have a track either, but prior to todays patch, I did notice that the AI wingmen on two occasions bailed out mid channel on the way home. About the same as they did without the drop tanks. I was going to try to confirm by flying a sortie with three AI wingmen, one with a slipper tank, one with a torpedo tank and one without tanks and see if there was a significant difference. -
Yes, but you have to do that for all a/c you are adding to the mission. Presets do not copy when you copy a group or even a single a/c. This takes a lot of time to edit that could be used making better missions. Not to mention the time spent testing all the frequencies in all the a/c to ensure that you don't have any typos in the presets. This has been a burr under the saddle, particularly for the warbirds and Sabre that are dependent on presets and can't be tuned manually in the cockpit. I don't think this is a RAZBAM issue but is something ED needs to find a solution for.

I think the real reason you don't see a lot of servers running the map is not related to map performance, which is not as good as Nevada but that DCS WWII hasn't taken off yet. Once the Assets Pack is complete and we can make interesting missions I would expect an increase in activity. Finishing the Spitfire certainly has reignited my interest and the P-47 will really help. There's not much modern interest in the map I think because there's a perception that it's only WWII and to an extent that is true, landing a Mig-23 is a handful on normal runways.

There may not be any ocean, but most of the country is empty, except for two cities of less than a million with no skyscrapers. Most people in small compounds not complex houses so object count should be comparable with Nevada.

DCS Maps are approx 1800 NM x 800 NM with detailed area around 400 x 400 NM. Afghanistan is slightly smaller than the state of Texas, with a total area of 647,500 sq km (250,001 sq mi), extending 1,240 km (770 mi) NE–SW and 560 km (350 mi) SE–NW. Most of the country can be in the detailed area.

For SRS, I recommend enabling auto connect, much less painful. The only problem occurs when the service provider changes the server IP without notice.

I use VIACOM 2.0 by Hollywood. It works perfectly and is worth the $8 or whatever it was.

Had a Sabre doing that last night on the Normandy map...

The Hawker Typhoon Ison the list of a/c to be included the Assets Pack, waiting impatiently for it now...

As close to a real Spit as it gets
71st_AH Rob replied to Reflected's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
The start up procedure can be followed exactly as described in the Spitfire pilot notes. There is no mixture lever in the Spitfire Mk IX equipped with Bendix-Stromberg carburetors. There is an idle cut off lever on the throttle quadrant. It has to be in the aft position when the fuel pump is on or the wobble pump is engaged. Once the engine is running it can be moved forward. See para 34(iv) pg18 and para 36 of 19 of pilot's notes. -

The Mk IX we have has an automatic mixture control, I think it is the idle cut off that has people confused. -

What velocity did you use for the guns in your mod? When you say you corrected the gun elevation did you change the gun muzz location or did you angle the gun upward? How much to have the desired effect? Also did you try my experiment above? I am interested as I am interested in taking the gun sight out of the equation as part of the error. I can determine the height above and below the fuselage reference line in the Lua file but not the gun sight, nor how far above the ground when parked the fuselage reference line is and this may be part of the overall error. The RCAF was renowned for its gunnery in Europe in the fifties and used a different procedure than the T.O. mentioned above. They used a 1000' range for the process. The target was a six foot by ten (?) foot screen and the a/c was parked on a level pad with wheels chocked. If I try this in game the rounds only reach the target after richocheting. Clearly the rounds would be expected to hit the target somewhere in the middle in reality so the rounds could reasonably be expected to travel 1600-1800' easily before first graze. The other factor I noticed was the gun sight is aiming at the ground about 500-600' in front of the a/c when caged. This combined with the guns firing low would really compound the aiming calculation the pilot needs to do. I have intending to test the sight in manual ranging mode in the same test as above. Another interesting experiment would be to fly level while inverted and observe the modeled bullet drop against the gun sight caged. For another day...

[FIXED] Green Tint and double reflections on front windscreen
71st_AH Rob replied to Sn8ke_iis's topic in Bugs and Problems
The glass was not tinted green, the armoured glass was clear. The same effect can be observed by taking a piece of plate glass and looking at the edge. The edge appears to be green. This is the result of impurities in the glass and the the refractive index of them in the glass. The thickness of the glass, the level of impurities and the angle all affect the visibility through the glass. This is something that would take a lot of calculating power to simulate and the easy answer is to just make the glass green at all angles however it will now be affected by the individual settings and monitor for each player. For the record I am flying with TrackIR and using a Samsung 4k monitor that does not reproduce colours as well as my older 1080p ASUS did and I don't notice the extreme green tint that others have posted, mine looks more like the photo posted by Toby or the video. I am using the last OB patch and I do not use any post filters. I suspect that it is a matter of gama settings and monitor. -
[FIXED INTERNALLY] Canopy bug following Update 6 Hotfix.

I started to get the canopy reflection this weekend but the green tint and double reflection people are also complaining about is absent. -
Spitfire windshield masks the night visibility

Wow, mine dosen't look that bad! I do however have canopy reflections when the canopy is open using TrackIR...
