[FIXED] RB74 shows up as AIM-9M and smokes.
Schmidtfire replied to Airhunter's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes, you are right. Rb74 = 9L = smoke. We're good here. No bug. My confusion since we have seen both smoke and smokeless. -

+1 Bug has appeared again. -
Fantastic! Should be put into the module officially.
-
Speak for yourself. Why would we not care about recent changes? There are pressing bugs and issues to fix, but the Ada feedback with updates is paramount to get the module as close to it's real life counterpart as possible.
-
+1 In a slight turn with the uncaged radar pipper on target, bullets fall short. If I put the pipper on the canopy the bullets impact at the tail or fall behind. Overall the sight in DCS also seems a bit more sensitive/jittery and unstable than it should. The uncaged sight ofc. needs time to "settle down", but I would expect the movement of the sight to be more dampened and fluid.
-
The sight is only stabilized IRL, but not ”locked” to the ground as it is in DCS. Sight (and laser) has to be kept over the target until the missile hits. Like the Kh-66 Grom works on MiG-21. IRL it has often been used together with external laser designator mounted on a vehicle.

Still hoping for a fix :)

AJS37 mod removing HUD
Schmidtfire replied to kristod76's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
NOT POSSIBLE DCS: C-101 or L-39 trainers can be flown without HUD. (like in real life) No mod will remove a cockpit 3D model like the HUD in Viggen. The module needs to be built with that functionality. -
? It is a totally different jet.
-
The textures has been improved a lot. It is like Jester986 wrote... The real cockpit is sort of ugly and bare :D Sadly the most impressive features of this module is often overlooked. The Special Options tab that let you adjust tdc axis sensitivity for each function like TGP, Air-Air radar etc. And you can set up your counter-measures too. And maybe the best feature of any module! DATA CARTRIGE You can create a flightplan with waypoints and pre-planned targets in about a minute. Much faster and easier compared to the Viggen. It is a gamechanger once you start using it.
-
You also need to remember that missile lock in DCS depends on the module. Example: R-60M all-aspect on Su-25, MIG-29, MIG-21bis but on L-39 it is rear-aspect only to get a lock. AIM-9M all-aspect on Hornet but rear-aspect on Hawk (discontinued). In the case of L-39 it is because R-60M shares lock-on code with R-3S, making it rear-aspect. Hiromachi, those are great documents. I have a live launch video of R-60MK somewhere. Looked very smokey, but maybe less than R-3S. But the smoke could also have been enhanced by contrails from the launch.
-
Another critical bug. This module needs attention.
-
The R-60 should have limited all-aspect capability. You can get a lock head-on but at a much shorter range than R-60M. Even the M variant should really be limited all-aspect. At release in 2014 Leatherneck had their own R-60M and it could only hit targets from the sides and rear, but not head-on. However this was changed as ED R-60M is all-aspect in DCS.
-
If DCS is sort of a struggle on Rift S or HP reverb (at least in multiplayer). I cannot see how it will run at playable framerates on 8KX...
-
Might just be me, but the FC3 package is still very well balanced. F-15C has the advantage BVR with AIM-120 and better SA. But as the distance close the advantage goes towards the Su-27/MiG-29 with HMS and R-73. Hornet and Viper has offset this a fair bit with the 9X, but that can be resolved by restricting loadouts when creating a mission. In my opinion, the way to ”balance” a sim is done in mission editing, not by adding stuff and features to modules.
-
From what I know, there is no RWR on new Ka-50 DLC. R-73 coupled together with helmet mounted sight would be great, but probably not realistic ;)

[REPORTED]Radar missing range indicators
Schmidtfire replied to Tarnfalk's topic in Bugs and Problems
+1 Throw in the RWR mod too. It’s pretty bad that the community has to fix this module. I do understand that ED has a lot on their plate, but major bugs should not be left hanging for several months... :( I have paid good money for the F-5E module and it is frustrating not to be able to enjoy it to the fullest. -
8K, stunning. But is that even usable to fly with? What does impact on framerates and loadtimes look like?
-
Why only F-16 or F/A-18? JF-17 is a complete module. State of the art systems w. data cartridge. Long range Sensor Fuzed weapons, anti radiation, anti-ship, MIL missiles, air-ground radar etc. not a US fighter but avionics are simple to operate and has a ”west flavour”. The other two aircrafts has a ton of history and panache, but from capability standpoint the JF-17 is very much a contender, especially if you want a full multirole experience now.
-
I guess so. Lots of info on features of the US carriers. It’s fine, I don’t mind them being in the pack, can be nice for Hornet module or something :) But it would be nice with detailed info about the new Admiral Kuznetsov and future plans for russian carrier ops.
-
As the title suggests, what can we expect from the new Admiral Kuznetsov? Static deck crew? Working elevators? New objects? MIG-29K? (AI or FC3 level) Will it be integrated into Combined Arms? The Admiral is the only counterpart for Blue & Red Carrier vs Carrier Ops - something that will fit the new map. Im sure a lot of players are interested to know a bit more about what is planned for Russian Carrier Ops :) Thx

Joe "Hoser" Satrapa did hit a steam locomotive with a sidewinder during F-8 mission in Nam 1968. In his own words: D-Hose and Rick Wenzil see a steam engine with boo coo box cars nearing a tunnel through a medium size mountain. We switch 333.3 (code, Quad 3) "One's in, 20mm"... Just like we teach in strafing, go lenght wise to the column of vehicles, not perpendicular. Thirty degree angle dive, 500 knots, yaw string centered, 17 mils on the pipper, 4000 feet AGL, squeeze the trigger. DAMN! Swooossh! AIM-9D goes whizzing by my right ear. Holygwakaskamoly! Damn, had winder selected instead of guns... but, what ho! The bad boy was guiding on the engine! Kafrickingboooomm! The steam plume went straight up in the air just like those WWII, P-51 gun camera pics. The train coasted to a stop bout 500 feet short of the tunnel. Rick and I made 20mm HEI/tracer runs on it till we were Winchester. Good secondaries, and then some A-4's Off the Bonnie Dick came in and finished what was left. After RTB Intrepid, CAG asked me where my Winder went. I told him. He said Good Thinking! Ya but, CAG it was a accident! He said, "son ya, cain't argue with success." And they wrote up an NCM(V). Go figure.

fixed HMCS boresight "egg" displacement when looking up
Schmidtfire replied to Croncat's topic in Bugs and Problems
Why is this thread tagged [CORRECT AS IS] ? -
”We are looking into making mission planner avalible in multiplayer.” Granted it is nice to have all the aircraft settings configured. But to be able to quickly make flightplan with waypoints and targets is really important, at least on the more progression driven multiplayer servers. Hope this gets prioritized, JF-17 and Viggen are a joy to fly thanks to their Data Cartridge approach.
