LOL you didn't quote the most important part which is in bold: "Sort of fixed" to mean is a pretty strong sign that it's a variable geometry wing plane. So either F-14, F-111, Su-17, Su-24, Tornado F3 etc etc And any of those are fine with me! :D

2 L shaped angle brackets x2 for each side

Well, I -downloaded & installed the latest runtime -plugged in the rift -Set the rift display to be sideways in nVidia options -Set it to Extended mode in the rift configurator -Fired up DCS -Waited for a mission to load -Alt+tabbed out and made the oculus the primary screen -Alt+tab back into DCS -Put on the Rift, Click FLY! Seems a bit drawn out, but not as fiddly as I was expecting. Amazing immersion, but the resolution really hurts it. There's no way you could fly a combat mission, let a lone do a start up procedure. I think the resolution will need to be 4k minimum for most games, but probably 8k for DCS. Even still, the immersion is really impressive. My fav was flying the ka-50 at night through a city area, with night vision goggles on. And of course with the pilot model switched on. The buildings feel like they are tall, when you fly about 15m alt. Really cool. And you have a very good sense of height, motion and speed. Even the Huey was quite easy to keep in a hover. If they can get the resolution to 4k or higher then it could be a winner. Anything under 4k imo the oculus will be just a gimmick, for DCS at least anyway.(In other games you forget about the poor resolution pretty quickly, but in DCS you are constantly reminded about it, since nothing in the cockpit or hud is readable) EDIT: Oh yes, and someone absolutely needs to invent something where you can see your hands in VR, and interact with objects in the game somehow. It's the first thing everyone seems to do, is try to grab things and press buttons.

Guys, I tried searching but with the 354 pages of in this thread the results are useless, and there are no stickies or that I can see. Is there a post or link I can follow to get DCS World working with the Oculus Rift DK2?
-
Would certainly prefer the F-14 I keep hearing about. But I wouldn't scoff at an F4 either.

I hope Matt trolls you guys. I can see him now, flying the Huey right for that rare desert tree, and the pulling up at the last second :)
-
Well Matt looks great for someone born over a 100 years ago.

Wow you really get a nice sense of speed when that Mig-15 lands!

I'm not able to figure out how to put several human piloted planes into the same group. Is there a trick to it?

Improving Clickable Cockpit usability with head tracking
FlyingHighAU replied to Herra Tohtori's topic in DCS Wishlist
+1 cursor moves on it's own plane, or cancels out the head movement. -
oh yes please. I would love to have the mouse cursor move independently of the of the view/TIR. That way you can glance somewhere else, while not having to realign the cursor. E.G. when using the CDU on the left panel instead of the one in the Left MFCD. Also some places in the cockpit require that you move your head here and there subtly to get able to get a good angle on each button, again CDU is a good example (and anything rear of it). So pausing or precision doesn't cut it. pausing/precision mode is also very jarring, and I'd imagine in an Occulus Rift it will be vomit inducing.

only 3 (very minor)bugs? that's a very solid release AvioDev :)
-
YES! you can :) But the only way I know of (there might be a better way) Fly and then hit ESC and end mission. Then make sure you save your replay track. When you want to continue flying, watch the replay - fast forward with LCTRL+ Z (press multiple times to really speed up). Then press LSHIFT+Z to go back to normal speed. Press ESC and select TAKE CONTROL.

It's a good price, and lets be honest, it's only $41 right now :)

To me it looked like he was still moving forwards while rapidly descending, so maybe he was just on the edge of VRS. But even so, I still agree it's much to easy to do currently but then agian I've seen this, which represents my DCS experience almost exactly.

I want the Mig thanks! :)

or a ramp option :) might be a different variant though

Oh wow, nice vid. I just assumed it would have been the flight engineer operating the nose gun. It looks looks a little cramped in there with all 4 haha
-
I noticed that in this photo on the mi-8 E-shop that there is an extra panel in the middle of the cockpit, where normally I'm used to it being just glass. On closer inspection, it appears to have two handles similar to the side gunners have on the huey - is it a gun of some sort?
-
Don't get me wrong, the interior/cockpit texturing is beautiful, and is done with a high degree of skill. But does anyone else agree that it looks a little bit on cartoony side? Especially the instrument cluster and the light globe indicators? for comparison
-
Seems like you certainly have the right skill set - would you ever consider doing a kickstarter or similar to help fund this as a full time goal? I'd donate that for sure.

Wow! Thanks very much Wags and Froogle. Things I like :- -Frame rate is very smooth over airports -Very detailed ground allows you to judge your flight speed and height very easily
