VirPil WarBRD as Thrustmaster WH Gimbal replacement for TARGET users
Sokol1_br replied to SnapRoll's topic in VIRPIL Controls
T50 to Warthog buttons equivalence - basically the "shoulder" HAT is the major change, their 17 to 20 buttons goes to top/right of grip. -
Ralfi Alley detail in this video ~7:00

Controlling Comms using a hat switch?
Sokol1_br replied to obious's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
obious If you don't want "talk" :) with computer as suggested look at how change F# keys for HAT/joy buttons in this topic: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=233743 Or this "mod" - suggest in the above topic, that allow navigate through comm menus with HAT/joy buttons - then the computer will "talk to you". ;) https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=187330 -
MFG, Sahaj... make extensions 75mm and up. Are a new maker from USA, but don't remember name now... And if get VirPil 50mm and modify then?

Why is need do calibration through Manager. CH (CTS HP-100A)* potentiometer have ~30º of "electrical effective angle" (don't confuse with mecanical rotation) but gimbal and throttle pot arm move a bit more than this angle, seems that Manager "amplify" pot response for cancel that (mechanical) deadzone at end of axis course. As alternative (for Manager Win10 issues) try with DView calibration. * This thing is so old, you can not even find the datasheet. :D

You must wait for the "future" to arrive. ;) http://forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?f=29&p=35749&sid=73c74887be37297f04591752d408dcce#p35749

Rudder Pedals recommendations
Sokol1_br replied to memoric's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Much easy, yes. Difficult or impossible, not. I taxi P-51, Bf 109, Fw-190 in the same way I taxi Spitfire - is not more difficult, neither more easy; using T-Rudder "differential brakes" emulation, that is not a on-off button, but a progressive axis, is just not relative, can't stop and hold the application in e.g. 50%, when reach 100% is need release an apply again. Matter of get used with the system. Since taxi difficult will represent more than 5% of in game time, is (IMHO) a very secondary thing. "Immersion"... Fly a Spitfire, Yak-1, IL-2... without a joystick with brake lever (VKB MCG, VPC T50...) will not kill the immersion in the same way? ;) But that pedals (T-Rudder) is for very specific kind of player, that don't care about "real thing" visuals or if mimic a given plane operation, but just want precise rudder control in a durable pedal at reasonable cost. T-Rudder major plus is offer the similar construction techniques and materials, electronics and sensor of "high end" models, but costing less. Comparing EU prices they cost less €121 than the next (price) option - MFG Crosswinds. Anyway OP have many options of pedals with "toes brakes", in low and high cost, just not in middle cost. :D Buying a MFG, Tm TPR, Slaw or VPC (when available), difficult will be need think in buy rudder pedasl again in their simmer life, what generally happens with people that buy low cost options. In the end, the major factor in the decision is money. -
 Under the "hood": http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e27/hrvhegeykc/IMG_20150109_220853_zps5dd57673.jpg~original The tactile switch - the exposed PCB at left, don't looks a "higher specification" hardware, and certainly cost less than these: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/omron-electronics-inc-emc-div/B3F-4155/SW967-ND/368375 Similar model was used in Tm F16FLCS, F22PRO in 90's.
-
Thing is reviewers confuse the feel (heaviness) of buttons operation with quality. The internal switch used by Tm under buttons caps is doubtful that they are better than OMRON switches used by VKB (VPC, CH). Or the cases of Warthog buttons/switches "broken" would not happen.

Rudder Pedals recommendations
Sokol1_br replied to memoric's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Aurelius Good summary of rudder pedal for domestic use market. An detail, after start work with VirPil Baur stop assembly their BRD pedals - now sell only some models in kit form, but Russian market have priority and production are just sufficient for supply this market. In practical terms is no more option for western. VirPil should release an pedal based in BRD design, probable around September. MFG Crosswind still not having the combat footrest option, some guys are making in 3D print, CNC. -
Bad luck. When the guy above post are $169.99 for pre-order (I see) but just now is back for $229.99. :D https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-VG-18-Grip-Add-PC/dp/B07H1Z3L67/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2

dual throttle controls...to lock or unlock?
Sokol1_br replied to fitness88's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
"For the sake of easy gameplay". :joystick: :D Including in Saitek X-55/6 throttle are a internal switch that mix the two axes response in one when throttles are locked together. -
What happens to the Thrustmaster F-18 stick ?
Sokol1_br replied to Razorback's topic in Thrustmaster
A local guy pre-order one. Pay, with local tax duties ~386 EURO/$433. That guy is really F-18 fan. :D -
Are a how to for DIY this, just don't remember where. :D  ;) There: https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=171735&d=1510008773 Other - Viperpit forum require loguin. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3954684/Low_Cost_FSSB_Mod_for_Cougar And option for this "surgery" in stick neck of the above link is 3D printed parts of Debolestis Shapeways. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/debolestis
-
With today 3D Printer availability will be easy add a finger lift detent in CH PRO Throttle, talk with Debolestis, he can draw to be printed on Shapeways. Something like this:
-
Look at TARGET, F-18 stick is include in their interface.
-
You are looking only in the appearance, I count the functions (buttons). ;) Can argue that Tm Warthog "F-16" stick are more practical to use than Tm "F-18" stick, but not that have more functions. We are talking about Thrustmaster sticks, not real thing.
-
For ~$350 you get stick, throttle and pedals from CH, and for what worth there are nothing better for same price. PRO - Sturdy and durable, you will not see parts of CH's broken like you see of Cougar or Warthog when mishandled. CON - Technically "obsolete", use the same electronics of 1999, 8 bits USB controllers and potentiometer (but ways better than ones used in Saitek's) and a "clunck" (tactile and audible) gimbal. For some players the limitations of resolution of an 8 bits controllers* and gimbal mechanics is issue, for others no. CH programming software - Manager, is not more 100% compatible Windows 10 latest version (CH statement). Neither seems have plans for make compatible (programming author retired). But some players manage to make work with workarounds. * EDIT - For controller low resolution Rel4y have a 10 bits replacement.

No problem, DCS support up to 128 buttons (IL-2:Bos up to 64). But other flight games like FSX, IL-2:46/CloD... follow the old 32 buttons limit. In that games you can use buttons above #32, but need be trough a keymapper, e.g. JoyToKey, Joystick Gremlin, SVMapper... Other option of USB "joystick" controller ready to use is DSD cards. Functions similar to Bu0836 (buttons, axes, encoders). Free world shipping: https://derekspearedesigns.com/circuits.html

 Tm Warthog (F-16) grip = 19 buttons + POV HAT. Tm F-18 AddOn grip = 19 buttons + POV HAT. Same "balls" just in different places. :D
-
But Warthog is not an... "F-18" stick. :D And VKB/VirPil don't pay Boeing licences. ;) Price (in Amazon.de) without EU VAT is 168 EURO ~$187.00

What happens to the Thrustmaster F-18 stick ?

The price (of Amazon.de) without EU VAT is 168 EURO ~ $187.00 Probable half of price is brand licenses. -

In Amazon.de EUR 199,99 https://www.amazon.de/Thrustmaster-F18-Hotas-Stick-AddOn/dp/B07S5FC1HS/ref=mp_s_a_1_31 At least show that "the thing" is real.
