  1. I thought it might be useful to have all of the shipboard stuff in one place… Anyway, to kick off: Leander Class Frigates - are they all unconverted Batch 3s with twin 4.5 guns / GWS-22 Seacat missile launchers? I placed HMS Andromeda in San Carlos Water and flew a low level approach, but got hit by what DCS said was a Seacat (Andromeda carried Exocet / Seawolf during the conflict) If it was a Seacat, has anyone tested the missiles in-game characteristics? Guidance, flight dynamics, critically - the manual reload of the four missile launcher…? OTOH, if the DCS Andromeda has Seawolf then I would have expected to get hit
  2. Spare a thought for those of us closer to that defining age… or those already there!
  3. Agreed - in general the start up sequences seem very sanitised…. Where are the mis-fires, pops and catches on a few cylinders before the whole bank settle down in unison? This might seem like an entitled whinge, but is a major part of the piston engine appeal and would greatly improve immersion
  4. I know, bad form quoting my own post… …but having just re-read the linked material I was wondering aloud whether Razbam have scoured / downloaded the various references cited? Seems to be quite a store of info in various corners of the web… @Raz_Specter any thoughts? Might not constitute DCS level source material, but some of the linked docs originated from Ferranti, others from Janes etc, with comparisons between Blue Fox, Blue Vixen and known US designs. Must be enough for a good facsimile of the FRS.1 radar system…
  5. Don’t forget the already announced Typhoon … (and Razbam’s possible / whenever / if’ish EE Lightning, Harrier GR.3, Sea Harrier FRS.1) I would pay more than the standard map price for a UK map, and I’m sure I’m not alone. The sole benefit of the civvysim is blatting around the Welsh mountains and valleys in the Hawk and Hunter, recognising places I’ve worked at, camped, mountain biked etc. DCS Jaguar and DCS Hunter really need to be a thing, and a UK map would really steal the show. ETA - two challenges, I guess - large areas of population / built up cities… personally not bothered if these are generic. DCS is not sightseeingsim - Lack of real combat scenarios… well Cold War gone hot applies, as does current / future QRA intercept missions
  6. Is that a confused B-25…? seems to have US fuselage insignia with UK tail markings??? Anyway, I’m much more looking forward to the Project Lancaster mod
  7. She’s a lovely little plane to fly - simple and easily accessible (the first that I have managed to cold start just by looking around the cockpit, with no ref to the manual) Yes, there are a number of controls / key binds to sort out, but IFE has already demonstrated that the 339 has been a labour of love which reflects a National pride in this aircraft. I’m sure everything flagged will be fixed and very much look forward to future IFE modules My main question (not trying to break forum rules) but I can’t help comparing with the other IFE 339. The FM here feels a lot less agile, especially during final approach where she is very “wallowy” in response to stick inputs. I’m fully prepared to accept that I might need to tweak my axis control curves, but just wondered what others have found
  8. Are they just part of the airframe weight???
  9. The manual shows the relight button as being on the front face of the throttle handle - which (for me) is not visible from the pilot POV. Is there a key mapping assigned to “relight”? I haven’t manage to find anything (yet) in the control options page
  10. Go on HB - you know you want to…
  11. Hawker Sea Fury is a good call… …but even better would be the gorgeous looking and sounding Hawker Hunter ETA - similar era and tech to the Gina, and the four ADEN cannons are a close relative to the DEFA cannons already modelled for the 339
  12. Anyone had a problem with getting moving? Removed chocks, parking brakes released… and even at full throttle the only movement is nose down on the front gear Suspect I have a controller clash, so working through assignment - but thought I’d ask in case missing something obvious ETA - Ok - just seen the vid under “bugs” for brake release… rotate then push
  13. Next OB patch tomorrow…
  14. @snak There’s a very promising looking Lancaster mod… Project Lancaster
  15. I recently downloaded the freeware civvysim Hunter - very entertaining flying through the Welsh valleys needs teeth though… needs to be in DCS
  16. Directly operated by countries on the following DCS maps… - Persian Gulf - Syria - South Atlantic - Kola - ETA, Sinai (and of course Channel / Normandy 2, which probably aren’t too bad a fit for 1950s NW Europe) From what I’ve read, that 30mm ADEN cannon is one of the best fighter cannons ever fielded (with the French DEFA cousin as in the F1…) And the Hunter has 4 - that’s quite a punch! Would absolutely love to see the Hunter in DCS, and would make an interesting adversary pairing with a MiG-17…
  17. Seems like the 339 won’t ship until we get DCS 2.8…
  18. indeed… BUT - the range of countries the Hunter served, and conflicts fought - including a number of DCS map arenas… too good to be overlooked
  19. No patch status update, as yet…
  20. Lemonheads version FTW… and I’m good with Friday for the 339
  21. Link to previous thread with Facebook link / images to the Foxtrot Oscar Facebook page… Hhhhmmmm “Foxtrot Oscar”….! … let me think about that Anyway, the forward link to Team Viper, in the FO FB, seems to show Hunters displaying in both civvysim and in DCS, with comments about the Hunter model imports into DCS. Either way, it certainly SOUNDS good on that formation break vid
  22. Was drawn out of the house by that noise a few years back… Was the uniquely painted F58, Miss Demeanour on a climbing turn out of St Athan… Thinking back it must have been pre-2015, before the UK Hunters were grounded after the Shoreham air crash of August that year From Target Aviation Photography… And shown in the Mach Loop, image recently popped up in my Facebook feed https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=177923464811231&id=100077807365552&set=a.174329695170608&__cft__[0]=AZUsc-DuJ23qFEE-V8orBLV-gtEAuoOvkyAO28rO68lZGhSgEy-8BSRs31k3281XMSjrGe_ozWs26x9Dz3PEdi1isHBJkC0wJDJRKbwvyeTgrYiuiPjvMHomABxxI16jBGDcMNUPMlGliGW4OPkT5mNPtDioTh2okDZkpf4u6ZmabM0t1zWWb6OWpiCzqwa-L5rwzWpsKcx9ZMObNxNYsgL1&__tn__=EH-R https://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/hunter/survivor.php?id=408 Now, sadly, in Canada with a normal camo scheme Would be a fantastic addition to DCS… … Where ARE the UK based devs…
  23. There was a Hunter showcased on Facebook - looked and sounded good, but haven’t heard anything much more about it… Would be a great addition to DCS
  24. Operation Fall Blau / Case Blue in 1942… Lots of action along the Caucasus mountain range and coast. As a student I met an old soldier who fought in the area, and he claimed to have reached as far as anyone in the German advance had reached. Many decades later my curiosity prompted me to research this, and I believe his unit fought along the Terek River to Mozdok and Malgobek. Timeline wise this would be summer 1942 through to winter 42/43, so a little before the DCS plane set, including the La7… Also, I understand that the Luftwaffe was withdrawn from the Caucasus to support 6th Army at Stalingrad, leaving the air open to the Soviets to harass German ground forces
  25. Got down… …. But did it get off again…?!
