  1. I assumed Marianas… … but
  2. JUNGLE….!?! or just small islands???
  3. Yes, I have seen those… I just wondered whether Reflected might be tempted to bring their excellent touch to Coastal Command - or whether the AltMap scenario would be too much of a fiction
  4. Might not fit @Reflected desire for accuracy… … but seeing this cross-channel campaign made me wonder weather the South Atlantic map could reasonably host some of the Banff Strike Wing anti-shipping missions???
  5. Thanks @Reflected - will give it a try (might need to get a few refresher flights on the Mossie first it’s been a while and there have been a few updates since my last use)
  6. Very tempted by this campaign - one of my favourite aircraft, IRL and in DCS BUT, given the Mossie’s low altitude strike role, how have Reflected managed the aimbot gunners which tend to mar the WW2 sim?
  7. Well, now that the 15 is out, it would be good to see some progress on other Raz projects…(*) I suppose the Flogger is the obvious focus for developers BUT come ON Razbam - let’s get some more South Atlantic content A lot of naval assets were teased, but have yet to set sail… and there a lot of air assets that could be fielded. The Pucara was extensively shown, and last I heard there was some thought to producing a GR.3 BEST BET - follow the Eagle with the only other fighter with a zero-loss kill ratio. South Atlantic NEEDS Hermes with a bunch of SHARs (* and yes I realise there will still be a lot of polishing to do on the F-15)
  8. I need to do something to get more space… wanted to get the Huey in the 15yr sale, as well as Sinai. The map alone would fill the drive and that’s without a raft of interesting incoming modules: F-4E, Kola, F4U, F6F and many more
  9. My DCS install is getting BIG…. It’s currently on my “best” drive - a 1TB WD Black M2 drive, but I only have one M2 socket on the MB DCS takes about 50% of the storage space, with most of the rest taken by Steam… Better to move Steam to a new Sata SSD and keep DCS on the M2…? Or just go for a clean DCS OB install on a new SSD Moving Steam likely to be more of a headache due to 10+ years of non- Steam DLC and mods
  10. Great to see some RAF skins for the Fortress. A relative of mine flew with 214, so especially pleased to see the special ops scheme, above. AFAIK he didn’t fly any Ops in KJ177/G, but he did fly 17 missions in the Fortress (and 8 missions in Stirlings before 214 Squadron swapped to B-17s
  11. Good to hear that 25 May is still being worked on… … but what about the remaining RN assets? Hermes, Type 21, Type 22, County class, Type 42 etc Seriously hoping they haven’t been dropped, as the naval assets were a major purchase draw* - as well as being suitable for Kola when it drops * ETA - even as a paid add on
  12. British FAA Corsairs most certainly were flown against German targets… …but during their operations over Norway don’t appear to have tangled with JG5s 109s and 190s For their part, JG5 seem to have flown a mixed fleet of 109 Emil, Friedrich and Gustav models, alongside various 190 Antons Will be interesting to see how the Corsair matches up against the DCS 109 and 190 - but then again, I remain unconvinced about the 190s performance in DCS* (* fully accept that the player 190 FM may well be ok, and that it is AI performance that causes this perception)
  13. Anyone click the opfor? Sadly I think the “Zero” still looked like the Anton and the twin “Betty” a Ju-88 Happy to be persuaded otherwise
  14. The team need to stick a Merlin on that tractor

    Bombers!

    Check out Project Lancaster
  16. This - precisely
  17. There’s something more sinister looking about the black night bomber schemes - especially for the B-17, as the green or bare metal USAAF schemes are so iconic… The 214 Sqn / 100 Group Fortresses were heavily modified at Prestwick following the ferry flights from the US. Chin and ball turrets were removed and H2S radar and other RCM kit was fitted. Seems like the Fortress was preferred for these special missions as they could fly much higher than the RAF heavies (ie needed to loiter over the targets / main force / night fighters) and also the short but tall bomb bay was a better fit for adding specialist EW kit - these really were the first Ravens Of course, in DCS any B-17 skin would need to be a standard B-17G model - but would still be great to have a four-engined RAF Bomber Command aircraft in our virtual skies
  18. More RAF would be great especially as we don’t yet have any of the British “Heavies”
  19. A relative who inspired my lifelong passion for aviation was a Flight Engineer who flew on Stirlings and then Fortresses. I remember him describing the evasive corkscrews used to throw off nightfighters - and especially how agile the huge Stirling was in the air Very much looking forward to the Lancaster, and would love to see her joined by a 214 Sqn Fortress (skin), B.IV / IX and NF.II or later Mosquitoes
  20. Does anyone know / has Aerges posted on the expected order for the other variants? it would be easy to assume CE > EE > BE > M…. but has this been confirmed?
  21. OP asks a really valid question… … not because it’s out of place with the DCS community’s obsession with realism…. It’s a valid question because it shows the huge level of interest in the naval versions Let’s hope HB get the F-4 on deck ASAP after the “E”
  22. Does there need to be a sticky on the legal (Russian Laws) reasons for no further red air developments??
  23. Good engine start up
  24. Agreed - she was a Seawolf conversion by the time of the Falklands. My father worked on the conversions of Charybdis and Hermione - possibly Andromeda as well Flying without RWR… but was trying to use the terrain As a manual reload, I can see the sense of firing all 4… but then having a bunch of matelots manhandling the reloads onto the launcher should probably be minutes, not seconds???
  25. Not really sure what SoCal would offer over and above NTTR… I guess if just comes down to some old film The UK “training map” thread offers much more variety, as well as more plausible “gone hot” scenarios
