  1. So I've recently returned to the Harrier after a hiatus and naturally started going through the training missions. On Mission 14: Guns and Rockets I ran into a "feature" of the GAU-12 on the Harrier that I haven't noticed before now. I'm not a naturally quick shot when strafing ground targets, so I do what I usually do and that is throttle back as I begin my dive in to give myself a bit more time. As the gun pipper is finally winding down I depress the trigger and nothing happens! Did I not set something up correctly, was my Master Arm not on, etc.... After several passes of the same I hold the trigger down after pulling off target and jam the throttle forward! As the Pegasus winds up the RPM the Equalizer starts Brrrrrrring away, WTF! So I started playing around modulating the power settings with the trigger depressed and came the realization. DUH! The Equalizer on the Harrier is Pneumatically powered! If the Pegasus engine isn't producing enough excess air pressure the Equalizer can't operate! Sorry for the long narration of my problem, but it highlights my frustration. Can we get some BOLD text in the Training Mission and the Manual the spells this limitation out for the GAU-12 on the Harrier. If this is a 'feature' and not a bug, I really appreciate the dedication to detail. If I'm the only goof that is having this problem I'll take the hit, but has anyone else been frustrated by this and wonders what the hell was going on?
  2. A couple screenshots from one of the campaign missions. Flying super close formation with the IL-72 was really challenging.
  3. So I'm not sure if this is a bug or a "feature". Immediately after launching a SLAM and switch over the data link pod I am able to "drive" the SLAM around using TDC well before the TTS timer runs down. SLAM control issue.trk
  4. So I've sat through and baby sat the 'Bolt for about 15 minutes. At around 10 minutes the oil pressure will start literally climbing off the scale. Then after a few seconds peaked out the needle will drop around 20psi a few seconds later it will drop into the "normal" range. So I guess hot starts are going to be the order of the day until we get a hot fix or the next update.
  5. You beat me to requesting the cluster bombs, darn it! Some of those had a real... uhm... field expedient look to them! LOL I would have been one nervous dude flying around with that strapped under my aircraft!
  6. Thor this varies slightly depending on where you have DCS installed and what branch you are using, but if you follow these file paths you can find the manuals for all the DCS modules. I would upload it for you, but I don't have any way of hosting it as it's too big to upload directly to the forums. This PC>*Drive where DCS is in stalled*>Program Files>DCS World OpenBeta>Mods>aircraft>*aircraft you are interested in*>Doc
  7. That was a great video I remember watching it a few months back! Pretty awesome how they were able to just field assemble those aircraft in theater.
  8. Very nice checklist SYDY thank you very much! Just a quick aside once you get into the kneeboard files, and there isn't a file for the Thunderbolt just right click to create a new folder and name it P-47D-30. Drop the checklist in there and it worked great!
  9. I'm wondering if someone else is able reproduce or having a similar issue. As the title says I'm having severe heat issues while airborne. The placard in the cockpit says don't operate cowl flaps above 225 IAS, but I'm not able to keep temps from spiking regardless of power settings without opening up the cowl around a quarter open. With the cowl closed even above 250 IAS results in a rapid rise in temps. I've tried several power settings max continuous 43.5IN 2600RPM down to min cruise 31IN 2150RPM auto-lean which still nets me 250IAS at around 5,000ft MSL. Any help confirming or letting me know what I'm doing wrong please let me know, thanks! Thunderbolt Engine Overheating.trk
  10. The info on Razbam is very out of date. They no longer have the A-7 as it's gone to another developer. It's doubtful they would be able to develop the A-6 as that would require building out an entire AI system like Heatblur's Jester and Iceman. They have stated an unwillingness to develop an AI for their Strike Eagle, so very unlikely they will want try it for the Intruder. Heatblur is already developing the A-6 and KA-6 AI for the Tomcat, along with a carrier and a few other AI units, they are the best placed company to receive a contract for the Intruder. As for the Thunderchief, Razbam already has something like 11 unreleased aircraft modules on the roadmap, and that's not counting the Falklands map with it's litany of AI units. They have a good three to five years of development with just those alone. What's going to make the Thunderchief an almost insurmountable challenge is when Republic Aircraft when to the butchers nearly all of their libraries of data on their aircraft and other projects was outright destroyed! This in my opinion was one of the reason's Eagle Dynamics had such a hard time piecing the P-47 Thunderbolt together. Eagle Dynamics, I believe, had to literally recreate the wind tunnel and some of the performance on their own.
  11. I'd much rather Deka and each third party focus on their own projects. If everyone starts sharing projects they all might as well be folded into Eagle Dynamics like Belsimtek was. I'll give them props for delivering such a "complete" module, but that may just be ED's evolving standard as to what counts as open beta. Lasting work is the goal for all the developers no one wants to go the way of VEAO!
  12. Well regardless of any other concerns having more static objects to liven up the DCS airfields would be a welcome addition. The 3d artwork is pretty impressive for just a small taste of the Lightning!
  13. Wow guys this is amazing thanks much for hosting this! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  14. Hello, I wanted to share a possible bug I found in the initial campaign mission. On start-up the Thunder is loaded with MK-83's to attack the truck on the demonstration mission. However in the switch conditions the weapons selected are MK-82's. I believe this is causing the mission to stall and give you a mission failure if you continue and attack the SAM launcher with rockets. I know the campaign is still very much WIP, but has this been tested and fixed on an internal build? Thanks and Happy Flying!
  15. A Korean War theater would have needed the F4U-4s and -5s versions of the Corsair. Not to mention all the associated Russian, Chinese, North Korean, and American Ai assets. I think they are going to have enough work in their hands putting the Pacific Theater into play for the -1 Corsair and A6M5 Zero in the works. Now if we are really talking wishlists here why not an F4U-4E or -4N night fighter with the 4 20MMs? Now that would be an interesting first for DCS having our first propeller driven night fighter! Lol
  16. I would love for them to flesh out the mid to late war WW 2 Pacific Navy rosters for both sides. Which I believe they are given a Zero is already in the works behind the F4U-1D. Hiromachi has posted it’s an A6M5 mod. 52. Magnitude has an enormous amount of AI modeling to do just in ground and sea assets for the Corsair and Zero to feel at home. I believe hey will get there eventually, but it’s going to be a while.
  17. Despite the outward appearances they are absolutely different aircraft. Last unofficial news I’ve seen was that Razbam has the Corsair II on their roadmap. There are several projects ahead of it waiting on the implementation of EDs air to ground radar namely the Strike Eagle, AV-8B Plus, and the Corsair II. Which falls somewhere behind their modules that are awaiting their final releases. This was from at least last year so take it with a wheel barrow from your favorite salt mine.
  18. CT they are the same company Leatherneck changed to Magnitude after the split from Heatblur a few years back. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  19. Probably someone using a weapons mod. There are several out there. You can hang just about anything on any aircraft with them. I remember taking Phoenix's from guys in F-15's back in the ancient days of DCS. Check if the server is running integrity checks. Though these will stop other people from using mods like the A-4 and the like. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  20. I imagine along with all the complexities of putting a module together for DCS building the right sounds for these aircraft is incredibly challenging. Reproducing the little quirks of how piston engines, especially the radials, with their temperamental lope while cold and then the warmed up steady thrum through different rpm ranges. One thing I have always missed is that bass reverberation that you get standing next to these aircraft. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2038444043042180/permalink/2273279549558627/ Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  21. Ya those are just the people to ignorant to read.... Heatblur has said several times that they would be quietly working on significant updates the the Viggen to bring her out of beta. Cheers Heatblur, I’m looking forward to working with the updated radar! Those BK-90s will be much more fun to work with!
  22. I believe the bulges at the wing roots are actually podded machine guns. My best guess would be a 7.62mm as they seem a bit small for a .50 cal. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  23. Some news is better than no news Hiro IMHO. Thanks for dropping in. Looking forward to seeing more about the CE too. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  24. I'll reiterate what I've said in the past. If a developer has the access to produce a well rounded as complete as simulation allows module. They should put it into the sim, regardless of the "C" in DCS. If DCS can expand by adding "dual role" aircraft like the O-2/337 by all means develop the hell out of that SOB! We need more developers to work with ED, we need more content in this game! The only way we will get either is being a little more open minded about comes into the sim. Military, civilian, dual role, if it brings quality to the platform it needs to be here! Basing what you should and shouldn't being to the sim based on this forum is like looking at an elephant with a microscope! As has been said before if you build it someone will buy it, if it's a quality product people will buy it. Hell, people will pay money for questionable product if it's presented in a half decent way, just look at the Hawk. I pre-ordered the Hawk and Warhawk just because of the dev roadmap.... Lol call me starry-eyed I'm still looking forward to the Warhawk. O-1,O-2, OV-10, 337, L-100, Pucara, F-100, Super Mystère, A-7..... I could go on, but I'm willing to let my wallet do the talking. Stop dithering and give me content! If I don't buy it someone will, and hopefully they are new to the platform, fall head over heels in love and never want to fly in another sim except DCS! 25. Blender Guru has some great beginner tutorials for Blender, which is free by the way. If I can do them just about anyone should be able to get a good start on 3d modeling. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
