  1. I never minded my bezels, they're small and I overlapped them, they're cheapish BenQ 27" 1080p monitors. Eventually moved on to a single ultrawide display though, almost every other game besides DCS needs Nvidia Surround to work properly and surround is really awful. I've never bothered using the lower monitor to extend the in game view, I prefer to use it for exporting displays. Either solution beats a standard 16:9 1080p monitor IMO. I've played on my room mates 40" 1080p TV and don't like nearly as much as either of my setups.
  2. Gaming joysticks generally have a larger range of motion than real sticks (20º typical for gaming sticks and real aircraft seem to be 15-17º from my limited research), that's why getting too long on your Warthog starts to feel awkward. I started with a 4" extension and quickly cut it down to 3" and don't regret doing so.
  3. Seems to happen about half the time after exiting DCS.
  4. I've had this issue for quite a while now. When I'm not playing DCS and SS is running in the tray, I get excessive CPU usage. If I shut down SS the CPU usage drops to basically zero immediately.
  5. Right seat most of the time. In VR and sling loading, it's more natural to sit on the left side and lean over the collective than on the right side and lean away from it, which is why you'll see sling loading pilots sit on the left side.
  6. Don't discount the 34" 3440x1440 ultrawide monitors. Fewer pixels than a 4k screen but still about 2.5 times the pixels of a standard 1080p monitor, and the 21:9 aspect ratio is great. A monitor will generally be better than a TV too when it comes to response times and motion blur.
  7. Biggest thing I've noticed is the lack of an animated nozzle.
  8. It seems like you haven't figured out the Frogfoot is metric :music_whistling: The indicated speed you're seeing is km/h.
  9. You don't have to shut down to refuel.
  10. I'll double check mine when I get home, but I know both my installs total like 117gb. I have all the modules.
  11. FOV is controlled with the zoom function, not your physical head position in the pit.
  12. I also get this bug, happens in helos too. I think it's an ED problem.
  13. It's also cheaper than any of them on eBay. I don't know why thread crapping is tolerated here.
  14. SOLD Lightly used Oculus Rift CV1 headset with sensor and remote. Has very light white scuff on the front. Does not include the Xbox controller/dongle/USB extension cable. The sides of the box top have become separated as seen in one of the pics. $370 shipped/insured, firm, US only. Buyer covers PayPal fee.
  15. I believe the two options for HID (joystick) emulation are the Uno and Mega. I'm using a couple Megas in my pit. I also bought a clone Uno but it's missing some sort of bootloader so I can't put it into DFU mode to turn it into an HID.
  16. Some updated shots of my setup. I decided to ditch the triple 27" monitors for a single 34" 3440x1440 ultrawide curved monitor. I do kinda miss the immersion in DCS with the triple setup but I really like the higher resolution of this display, it also gives you more FOV than a standard monitor without having to resort to modifying LUA files (which also causes problems in multiplayer) like with a triple setup. Also I never have to mess with Nvidia surround ever again for other games. Surround sucks and blows. I have a VKB Gunfighter Pro with WH adapter on the way too.
  17. Doubtful, considering Normandy isn't scheduled to be out until May and they've said it will be on 2.0. Many more months of back and forth updates await us.
  18. P-51 already has axis mappings for those...
  19. It's only "fixed" in 2.0 because of the contrast with the desert terrain of NTTR. Here's hoping ED will implement a proper FLIR simulation soon.
  20. Bunyap has a good video on this.
  21. I'm really excited for mine, can't wait to try a proper gimbal in my pit. Waiting for custom gear from the other side of the world is hard though ;)
  22. I'm using 3 27" 1080p monitors at moment and I love the setup, but I just ordered a 34" ultrawide curved 3440x1440 to replace them. It's time for something a little more practical. I briefly tried a 29" 2560x1080 monitor a couple years ago and it's size and resolution left me wanting more, this should do the trick.
  23. Don't get me wrong, I love all the 3d details that pop out that you never notice with a monitor, and the resolution is what I'd call adequate for helo work, I'm just not sure it's for me with the narrow FOV and making most of my pit unusable. The depth perception was always the biggest thing I've wanted out of VR but I've gotten to the point where I can set a helo down anywhere I need it without VR (and even a little better with VR of course), so it isn't really a need at this point. I'll probably enjoy the novelty for a bit more and then sell it off, shouldn't lose much if any for what I paid.
  24. I'm not sure VR is for me fellas. I had a DK2, I only used it a handful of times, disappointing resolution, and worst of all it made me queezy. I just had to get my hands on a CV1 and try it out. Found one for well below market value and snatched it up. Resolution is way better than the DK2, I can mostly read the cockpit gauges and HUD now, it's to the point where it's good enough for what I wanted to do. But the FOV is noticeably narrow for me, it feels like I'm looking through a tube (maybe having 3 monitors has spoiled me). The nose gap seems almost non-existent on my face, makes using my panels that I spent so much time building pretty difficult. It still feels pretty heavy and noticeable to wear. And again, it's making me queezy, even at 90fps. I never get motion sick IRL, something about VR isn't jiving with me. I keep falling in love with the idea of VR but I'm not sure if it's ever going to work out for me. I know a lot of guys say they're never going back to a monitor but VR just isn't sucking me in like I though it would. I think instead I'm just going to end up with a large 4k screen.
  25. While I personally don't use LAU-88s and try not to use TERs, there's a reason I didn't say to lose them entirely, because it's totally up to you, but if you do use them, dump them when you get the chance. Personally, I much prefer a lighter, less draggy A-10, much more fun to fly.
