I understand your meaning but I think real life is very different in this respect. They will never drop ordnance on a whim like that. If they are going to drop a cbu then they know beforehand where and on what they will drop it on. And if something unexpected happens they will probably abort. So I think the need for such hotas systems is less than we might think. Air to air is of course a different matter.

Timeufc on the HSI and then ZTOD on the ufc.

The 7.5G limit is not there to keep the wings from ripping off. It's there to extend the life of the airframes and allow them to fly for 1000s of hours. The override switch gives you about 9g which will still not approach the yield limit of the plane. It will however probably be causing significant fatigue to the airframe which will shorten the life of the plane. Due to the nature of DCS however, where we are given a new airframe every time we spawn this is completely irrelevant for us. In real life you would probably have to have a good explanation for why you pulled the switch when you land.

The TVV in relation the horizon-ladder is an indication of the angle of sinking. The actual sinkrate will depend on your speed and your angle of sinking. The TVV in relation to your plane's nose direction is literally your AoA. What I am seeing is, because I tested this, the plane pitching up and down when I adjust the throttle in landing mode. It is especially clear if you look at the plane sideways in F2 view.
-
Not true. No plane will behave like you say(except maybe a harrier). If you keep a constant pitch in a normal plane and increase throttle the aircraft will indeed begin climbing but as the speed increases the AOA will decrease. I know they say pitch for speed and throttle for altitude. I'm guessing that is because in low-speed, high AOA situations the altitude change is going to be more noticeable than the speed change. The hornet is different however. You can easily try this yourself. Just get the plane stable and on-speed. Then increase throttle without touching the stick and watch the plane automatically pitch up.
-
Semantics. My only point was that in the hornet the pitch will change when you change your throttle setting.
-
This may be true for most planes. But not the hornet. Since the FCS will maintain the set AOA, it will pitch up or down depending on your power setting. If you increase throttle the plane will pitch up automatically to maintain the AOA.

Have you enabled "NVG" mode on the internal lights? It is a switch somewhere around the other cockpit light switches.

Is this related to the fact that I can’t fire aim-9s from single racks anymore. They still exist in old missions. For example 4 vs 4 mig-29 instant action caucasus. If I jettison the pylon mounted aim-9s I can then launch the ones on the wingtips.

What is this binding called? Is it exclusive to VR? I was looking for a snap zoom button but I can't find one.

I have no such issues. i5-8600k, 16GB, 1xGTX1080, SSD Win10

In real life they never drop the tanks unless it is a real emergency at which point they probably want to ditch them all regardless of what's in them. And for this reason it makes sense to drain them at an equal rate. They probably didn't have dcs multiplayer in mind when they designed the fuel-flow logic in the f18 :)

I did some further testing. Same mission, everything is the same. Altitudes are virtually the same, maybe 50 feet apart. Clean plane: Speed(indicated): 741 kts Loadout 1: 4 single aim-120cs on the wings, nothing else. Speed(indicated): 579 kts Loadout 2: 8 Mk-83 on dual racks on the wings, again, nothing else. Speed(indicated): 687 kts And now the interesting result: I fired of the aim-120s so now it's only the single mount launchers left from the amraams: Speed(indicated): 602 kts. The 4 racks cause considerably more drag than the combined drag from all the bombs AND their racks! Launching the missiles only gained us 23 kts. The racks alone cost us 139 kts of IAS. There is no point in discussing the drag from the missiles, which seems to be pretty low, we have to discuss whether the racks should be causing so much drag. It seems wildly unrealistic to me. They are not that big and look pretty aerodynamic.
-
If the effect was that dramatic then surely they would have put a cone on the back of the missiles which would simply get blown of when the missile fired. I've seen some rocket pods which have similar cones.
-
It could be the launchers have incorrect numbers. Since the f15 can carry these missiles without becoming super slow. Also having missiles on the fuselage mounts doesn't affect the speed nearly as much. Now I would expect that carrying them tucked under the fuselage is inherently more aerodynamic so that may explain some of the difference.
-
Why did you move it to this obscure place? It's clearly a hornet issue.
-
I've been doing some AA in the hornet lately and I've noticed that whenever I bring missiles on the wing pylons the plane becomes dog slow. I understand that weapons will come with a significant amount of drag but I felt that it was too much. Of course I'm no expert on this at all so for all I know this is completely realistic. However. I did some testing. And one of these results MUST be wrong. I made a mission with 2 hornets. Everything equal except one hornet was loaded with 8x-mk83 bombs. The other was loaded with 4x aim-120c on the wings. Single missile per pylon. Then I just did a speed test, same altitude. Full power until they ran out of fuel and recorded their top speed. The one with bombs topped out at 799 knots Ground speed(mach 1,22) The one with missiles topped out at 644 knots ground speed(mach 0,99). It wouldn't even go supersonic! There has to be more drag from the bombs? In addition to the massive weight difference which will create more drag also.

They would help with keeping the plane pointed the right direction during hover. If that is your problem then they would help. For me the difficult thing is keeping the plane from drifting left/right and forward/backwards. The rudder won't help with that.
-
1. Open the mission in the mission editor and change the weapon loadout to 10 aim-120s 2. Let them loose. 3. Profit.
-
Use your afterburners and take the fight vertical. You will lose in a horizontal turnfight.
-
Doing what(I think) you said works for me.
-
It is possible to do this. You have to edit a .lua file. You can choose what type of label also. For example only dots or full name with range. You can also choose the range at which the labels appear. I don't remember the name of the lua file but google should help you out.
-
Bms has it yes. And it works quite well. I dont know why dcs doesn’t have it.
-
I have modified one of the .lua files so that the labels are greatly reduced but still there as small dots. This keeps med from being virtually blind but i dont have god’s eye either.

It’s more about angle of attack than g’s. Edit: looking closer at the picture the aoa is also very low. So I agree. It looks wrong.
