    DCS: F-15E Trial

You can sell unfinished products as early-access because then you get some money up front and the customer will forgive alot. Giving a free trial on an unfinished product is more risky because the customer is much more likely to discard your product and you earn nothing. Especially in DCS where an early access product suddenly becomes unusable after an update. Like the F15E radar thing. Imagine doing the free trial and the module is completely useless.
  2. The way they are landing the vipers super lightly with the the nose held up after touchdown will mean that the force on the wheels will be very light at first and they will easily skid without stressing the landing gear struts too much. As the lift from the wings decreases gradually with the speed the wheels will gradually gain traction and hopefully straighten the plane out. I wonder if it's more important to straighten the plane out when landing a hornet since they tend to come down quite hard meaning the tires will have a lot of grip initally.
  3. Read my post above. You can create markpoints with the helmet that you can then slew the TGP to. It's a few extra clicks compared to VIS mode but it's not difficult. This works in NAV mode.
  4. I believe you can use the markpoint function. Click the mark button on the ICP(7 IIRC). Seq button and choos HUD. Now you can do TMS up long to activate the HMD. Look at your target, tms up twice and you've created a markpoint.
  5. Please ED, don't listen to the "PVP-balance" people. That's not what DCS is about(for me at least). That being said I am not opposed to choice. If there are options for older models that's great.
  6. I have found a purpose for this "feature". If you are going to attack preprogrammed targets. Say you enter the coordinates for 4 targets from the F10 map. When you get within range and select the steerpoints they will likely be off by a certain offset. You can see this on your TGP. If you then slew the tgp so that it's pointing at the first target this will create a offset that will make it so that the next 3 targets are correct. So you only need to correct for the first one. Then you can ripple of your JDAMS quickly.
  7. It's not a problem if you do it correctly. I don't know what's realistic. But if you follow the advice in the posts above you will do fine.
  8. Still seems a little squirelly after raising gears on take-off below 300kts. Need to be very carefull with lateral stick inputs or it starts yawing a lot. Massive improvement though.
  9. If you want to find targets of oportunity like you describe doing in the F15 then you should use VIS/DTOS mode like you say. In those modes it will do largely what you want. You can designate with the HUD or HMD(as long as the hud is SOI,TMS-UP long to make the HMD SOI) and you can slew with the TGP when it is SOI. Knowing both aircraft In my opinion the F16 shouldn't be harder to use. TMS-Aft while the HUD is SOI will boresight the designator in DTOS/VIS mode. TMS-Aft while TGP is SOI will send the TGP back to the point you designated with the HUD(IIRC) The plane should Autolase by default as long as you have armed the laser. If not you can manually lase with half-pull trigger. Laser options can be found by clicking the LIST button on the ICP and then 5(I think, if not it should be apparent which number you want to press). You can select auto or manual lase and how long it will autolase there. CCRP/PRE modes are for when you have a steerpoint near or on the target. Personally I find snowplow mode largely unnecessary except maybe for the A-G radar.
  10. What do you mean? It's going through testing now.
  11. In a real F18 you have to pull HARD on the stick, around 40 lbs for full deflection according to some results I found on google. Your thrustmaster with an extension is nothing compared to that. Couple that with the complete lack of damping in the travel. You can bascially whip that stick back and forth much easier and faster than what can easily be done in the real thing which is a recipe for PIOs. Get a force feedback stick which can simulate the higher forces and damping and you might get a different feel for things. The below info is not verified but it sounds reasonable and I have heard real pilots mention that you do indeed have to pull quite hard on the stick.
  12. So same as I'm entering for the viper? Thanks. Will try when I get home.
  13. Track included. Am I doing something wrong? waypoint entering.trk Air start with no time passed to introduce any drift. It doesn't seem to be map dependent. I get the same result on caucasus and syria. waypoint entering syria.trk edit: Uploaded another one on the syria map. Same result(essentially). double edit: Did the same with the viper on syria, same mission. Dead on. waypoint entering syria f16.trk
  14. You just casually dropped the best tip I've seen for DCS in a long time! I didn't even know this was possible. I've been annoyed by the radio menu for years wondering why they don't do something like the radial menu in the tomcat. This isn't quite that good but it still makes this MUCH better. Thank you! Is it possible to move the location of the radio menu too perhaps?
  15. First, after you've fired a maverick, TMS-Back to slave the next maverick to the SPI. Then DMS up to make HUD SOI. Then TMS-down to boresight the HUD. Now you can look for a new target. TMS-up twice when HUD is SOI to make the WPN SOI. Personally I would advise against using the TGP in VIS mode. Just put the maverick close with the HUD and then refine with the WPN page.
  16. Are you sure you're not thinking about the A10c? I didn't know tms-up long is a thing in the viper.
  17. Cars don't have INS as such. But they do augment the GPS signal with direction and velocity sort of like planes. Which is how cars, to an extent, are able to keep track of where they are going inside tunnels. And stay decently accurate in intersections and roundabouts and such without suddenly appearing in the wrong lane. Also they do actually have IMUs for use with their ESP systems. Not sure if that is integrated with the GPS systems though.
  18. According to the product page it has "Industry leading passive detection, tracking, and ranging for air-to-air and air-to-surface targets". Does that mean it can function as an IRST? And auto detect ground targets? https://www.lockheedmartin.com/en-us/products/sniper.html
  19. What impresses me the most is that 250 out of 250 rounds fired hit that one soldier.
  20. Like Nealius said above you use the throttle to flare. Or you can use auto-throttle. Then you can flare with the stick.
  21. The blasters on the snowspeeders are ineffective so they must be shielded. Therefore I'd say kinetic rounds would also be ineffective. But you never know. Maybe the shields only work against blasters since they are able to fly through the planetary shielding on Hoth. The shield around endor and the death star(in episode 6) is another matter. But they fly through the shield on the death star in episode 4. I think one just needs to park the brain when watching star wars(I love star wars).
  22. Yeah. The engines have very quick reaction time too so if you cut early you will have problems. I cut when the wheels touch down.
  23. Hornet is the easiest plane in the game to land smoothly. If you're struggling watch this clip. I think the secret is to remember that elevator is ONLY for keeping the AoA and the thrust is for controlling descent rate.
  24. I know it sucks. But if you want to play a fully working module you need to come back once it's out of early access. Maybe fly the Hornet or A-10? Or if you really want to fly the viper there are... other options.
  25. With the new dynamic spawn function you can just select Hot start and all that is done for you. Edit: Not that I'm opposed to them adding the options you are asking for. Options are (almost)always a good thing.
