Tail parade Lined up for formation take-off. Alpha pulling down from the egg. HG10 Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta RTB. Turning towards Entry East. Alpha in the break. Bravo in the break. Alpha in the rollout. Back at the shelter.

I'm not sure if the Soviets or the LSK (the East German AF) ever used ICAO codes for their airfields. I don't speak Russian, but these charts don't look like there is any ICAO code mentioned there: https://www.mil-airfields.de/de/preschen.htm ETSH for Holzdorf AB for example is a post-reunification code from the mid-1990s. The GDR certainly never used that one.

Eastern propaganda at Pferdsfeld road entrance
Volator replied to gulredrel's topic in Bugs and Problems
You beat me by a few hours for reporting this. Noticed this too. -
It's ingame? I just flew out of Fassberg tonight and only noticed a VOR that should not be there. I might have to check again though, maybe I was blind. Edit: Yep, it's there. I was blind. It may have been added in the last patch though.

1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Cold War, full-real [für deutsche Piloten]
Volator replied to Volator's topic in Jets Squadrons
Neulich in der 1./JG71 "Richthofen": Nachtflug mit TACAN approaches und VFR night pattern. Bereit für die Nachtschicht. Letzte Vorbereitungen in der Last Chance. Mit dem letzten Tageslicht auf der SID, um ein gleich für ein paar TACANs wieder zurückzukehren. In den Tälern bildet sich Nebel. Trotz bestem NVFR-Wetter wird zunächst "on instruments" geflogen. Im VFR pattern. Eindrehen auf's Final in Büchel. -

Mig-29 updated cockpit looks weird
Volator replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Luckily it doesn't. It works fine, it just has to be recopied after every patch. -
Thanks for the statement. So happy to read the work continues. The Bo is going to be amazing. Can't wait to fly the PAH and the VBH on the CWG map.

Hallo Olli, danke für Dein Durchhaltevermögen. Ich freue mich riesig auf die Bo-105 und verfolge seit Jahren gespannt die Neuigkeiten zu Deinem Projekt.

The old characteristics at take-off had always been a gamble between a late rotation resulting in a too long, too fast take-off roll, and a too sudden rotation resulting in a tailstrike. Now with tge adjusted FM the nose comes up slowly, nicely and controllable just like in the real aircraft. Attitude can be maintained well at take-off now. Well done, HB! Thanks for listening!

[Bug] Jester calls out "lost cabin pressure"
Volator replied to streakeagle's topic in Bugs & Problems
Jepp, had this bug today too... for the very first time. Got a track, but it's a full flight with c+d start-up and everything, 43MB, that might not be what HB is looking for. It happened on a SP AAR training flight at around 25k feet. -
The terrible light masts are gone now at Buecky. Thanks Ugra!

Did the real MiG-29 ever have a German Betty to call this authentic?

The ICAO identifiers of the airbases in the CWG map (F10 map) are a mix of the current >1995 system (like Wunstorf ETNW, Fassberg ETHS, Ramstein ETAR) and the old <1995 system (like Celle EDCL or Spangdahlem EDAD). This should be unified to one system, preferably the old <1995 system (even though the new system is a lot more comprehensible). Information on the old and new ICAO codes can be found here in this by now well-known website: https://www.mil-airfields.de/germany/west-germany-air-bases.html

Assuming that it works the same way as for the normal airfields, you only get a landing clearance (even when actively requesting it, which you can do via the ATC menu) if you are in a rather small defined area in front of the threshold, i.e. on centerline and glidepath to the runway. If you are too far off to the sides or above GP, there will be no clearance. Since a FARP doesn't give you any cues where the "centerline" and the "glidepath" might be, the very, very basic ATC system will not recognize you in the correct position for a landing and thus not issue a landing clearance.

The silence is deafening

Yes, on my flight only RWY 26 was active too, although the wind should have favoured 08. That's another bug that should be reported, because to my knowledge there is no such limitation at the real Bueckeburg airbase.

VFR navigation flight from Bueckeburg EDCB to Fritzlar EDPF, both German Army Aviation bases, by navigating with ICAO VFR chart. Departing Bueckeburg EDCB Army Airbase via the (current) Sierra Echo departure. The Porta Westfalica where the river Weser has carved its way through the hills. Hot air balloon east of Porta Westfalica Approaching Fritzlar EDPF Army Airbase via the (current) visual approach route November.

Additional bug report for Bueckeburg: ILS glidepath not working at Bueckeburg, both runways.

Tested ILS at Bueckeburg in the Huey today, also no glidepaths both runways (in reality Bueckeburg only has an ILS for RWY25 btw).

Getting ready for a night IFR training sortie with ATC at Bueckeburg: Turning to downwind in the radar pattern Nice sunset On downwind in the radar pattern On the PAR approach to Bueckeburg RWY08 Thanks to Marco from JTFF 2/5 IDF for excellent ATC!
