  1. Is there a way to set the aircraft state with such things as Comm/NAV Course selected etc such that when you spawn everything is already tuned and set ? I am trying (for testing purposes) to set up a ILS intercept situation with everything good to go so as soon as you un pause you are into the ILS.
  2. Will raise in the internal Bug sheet
  3. Yes I think you are right. In fact looking at it more closely If the current Weapon impact point is in the HUD field of view you get CCIP regardless. So Bomb Range,TAS,ALT and dive angle all combine to get the CCIP above the bottom of HUD. If it is you get CCIP
  4. CCIP works just fine as long as you get a decent dive angle and give it time to come on line once established in the dive.
  5. That I believe is in fact a Bug then. Range obviously affects Gravity Drop and is independent of G or turn rate.
  6. The Altitude adjustment is I believe the input for the TAS adjustment ... talking about Bullets TAS to be used in the computation. Since Mv is known. So Altitude affects Bullet TAS which affects Tine Of flight so therefore lead required.
  7. Nice Vid but the MIG29 has more AG delivery options than that. It has both CCRP (that you show in your video) and CCIP. They are not directly selectable but a function of dive angle. CCRP When you enter AG mode with bombs the default Delivery is CCRP and the weapons system is in the undesignated state. If the Dive angle is less than about 20 degrees the system logic says you want CCRP. You then fly the reticle over the target and designate the target by pressing and holding down the Bomb release button. The Diamond appears over the target and a steering circle appears over the Aircraft cross. You are now in the CCRP designated state By keeping the top of the aircraft cross pointing at the centre of the steering circle you are automatically flying the correct ground track (same as tracking the ASL in AUTO in the FA18 ) you can either fly directly ahead until release occurs (you will hear a release tone) or convert the pass to a Dive Toss release by pulling up maintaining the aircraft cross aligned with the steering circle. So CCRP either LAY DOWN or DIVE TOSS is available. Note: if the Mission planner has entered the target wypt as a "Target" then when the wypt is selected and you enter AG mode the diamond will be present overlaying the target so you will be automatically in CCRP designated state. (certainly was the case in FC3 and I dont think its changed) CCIP CCIP will become the active mode if dive angle exceeds around 20 degrees. The transition within the weapon system from default CCRP to CCIP is not instant and takes a while. When CCIP is active you will see a CCIP reticle with a Displayed Impact Line (DIL) extending up from the CCIP, The pilots task is to track the target down the DIL line until it hits the CCIP reticle then pickle. (same as in FA18 CCIP). It would be nice to have a Mode switch to directly choose CCRP or CCIP but in the SIM that is not possible. Not sure if in the aeroplane that is the case. Jpg shows CCIP mode. TRK shows typical CCIP pass and a CCRP Mini Dive TOSS pass. Some of my notes from FC3 days nothing has changed I believe. Though I think the cutoff dive angle between CCIP/CCRP is now 20 degrees and the swapping between modes (probably better called reversion) now takes a bit more time. mig29ccipauto2.trk
  8. 'flying Straight" will still result in in Gyro calculation based on Set target range so in this case Gravity drop and a fixed value of trajectory shift based on speed/Altitude i.e TAS component also input to the sight via the thumb wheel controls in a separate box.
  9. Ok understand ref priorities :)
  10. Here is track pretty much as I recall what was demoed to the Student then his turn. Ideally no more than 12 Alpha to the vertical then alpha as required to keep the nose moving over the top. Config Clean + 2 AIM9 which for us was the standard training OCU config. F1812alphaloop.trk
  11. Yes I know were you are coming from ref possible AOA Hang ups over the top etc. We (many moons ago) used to use it as confidence building type thing ... just how slow can you loop it type thing. The 12 Alpha is really the initial pull to the vertical, over the top the usual caveat to ensure positive pitch rate... lest the AOA hangup snare you.
  12. The current manual does not describe the function of the Nav control panel. Specifically what exactly does the Nav control switch (5) in positions NAV and DME and OVRD do ?
  13. What number 12 Alpha or 180kias ... either one is correct.
  14. ""fair & honest" ACM" no such thing..... and we are talking BFM anyway :) If you get close quarter to the point were you are genuinely scissoring (like in guns only environment) be it Horizontal or rolling its all about controlling forward vector in relation to the bandits forward vector, and your best tool for that is placement of the lift vector and max performing the jet. You use whatever tools are available to you .... and rudder in this environment can be a great friend.
  15. Rudder is one of the Hornets trump cards to get your nose going were you want it even the FCS uses it :) Dont unload in a flat scissors ..... you will end up in front Yes especially High AOA use rudder prodigiously. Loaded reversals are the way to go.If it were me in Full burner. Rolling scissors Aim to keep your lift vector behind the opponent, do what it takes to achieve that Rudder as well. Looping from that sort of speed use whatever G you want into 12 alpha as you get slow. You can loop an A model Hornet from 180KIAS .... just use 12 Alpha.
  16. Looking at the C-101CC Gyro control panel the Variation setting (Item 2) only has 3 selections 15E, 0 and 15W .... how do you deal with Variation values that are different to these ? Given its a Flux valve based system (in slaved mode) is this switch even relevant ?
  17. DME hold switch doesn't work in my install. I tune Batumi TAC/DME 135.9, DME shows up just fine on the HSI. I then select DME hold. Then as soon as I rotate the NAV freq tumblers the DME display blanks out. if I retune 135.9 DME comes back. So for me I cannot hold the DME display.
  18. Controls Indicator unticked did it .. Danke
  19. I have None selected alas they are still there ... so is there some other hidden option ?
  20. How to I remove these things from the display ?

  22. The trim sensitivity issues have been reported. Regarding the Stick moving in the video this is because in the MIG29 (unlike in western types) the Damping system input is also fed direct back to the pilot. This is discussed in this fascinating interview with Luftwaffe MIG29 test pilot:
  23. errr I think you mean residual pressure in the lines ?? Turning the Main Air valve OFF isolates the Main Air from the system
