I just use the preset that's already there for the Hind.

How big is the biggest possible DCS installation with all maps/modules?
Mr_sukebe replied to warmachine79's topic in DCS 2.9
I have all the maps and most modules. My install is a little over 1TB. However, that excludes my Saved Games/DCS folder, which I have on another drive and includes all the add on mods, missions, liveries etc -
With the latest firmware, yes, it can result in ghost button presses. Personally, I rolled back to the previous firmware, and it’s since been fine. Moza have acknowledged the issue and have a fix planned.

Viggen anti-jamming modes (AS0-7) what do they do?
Mr_sukebe replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Thanks. The reply suggests that they're about datalink? In which case, I probably don't need to worry about it too much. So mapping the controls enables me to "turn the knob clockwise and anti-clockwise". Nice for the visuals I guess, even if it does nothing. -
I noticed a few things whilst out flying my Viggen again yesterday: The analogue axes for the weapon selector and delay selector knobs only operate in the positive side of the axis (i.e. from the half way point upwards) The control to open the Xtank cover opens the emergency weapon cover. There's a way around this, as one of the other options for the Xtank cover does open it, but it's just a bit odd The Viggen doesn't seem to like two of the rotary encoder controls on my Virpil Control panel and won't recognise any inputs from them. They do work in some other modules using the default keys for show pilot body works fine. I’m unable to map this command to any of my control panels

I started re-visiting the Viggen yesterday (again). Lovely aircraft. Whilst methodically working around the controls again, I couldn't help but notice the AS anti-jamming modes. I've never tried them before. Had a look in the manual (both from HB and Chucks), no mention of their usage. Do they actually do anything in DCS, if so, how do we best use them?

All of it. Infact I've just flown a 3 hour carrier mission on it. Couldn't even find the target, but what the hell. Lovely flight, great scenery and got to watch the sunset again after tanking.

Rebuilding a surplus apache cockpit simulator
Mr_sukebe replied to sargentwolf's topic in Home Cockpits
Just wow. Mega envious here. Please do keep us posted on progress and with plenty of pics. One thought, Total Controls have replica style MFDs for the Apache. I've got one, very nice bit of kit, feels massive more solid than the Thrustmaster options. Virpil have their Apache collective grip. -
Is there a way of limit the update size, it's takes too long
Mr_sukebe replied to jonfog's topic in Installation Problems
Razo's idea about using the module manager would be a good workaround. Do bear in mind the implications that each update "might" include updates (even small ones) to a variety of terrains that could be technical dependencies for the core game, and delaying installation could result in synchronisation issues. To me, deliberately delaying elements of planned updates feels like a dangerous route to start taking. -
Mark> If you can't see the configation options that you're looking for, they might be "hidden". There's a setting available in the top right area of the NVPI App that allows you to see "all", or "known" settings. For myself, it defaulted to "known" and I couldn't see them either. Confused the hell out of me. Change that setting to all, and scroll down the list (it's long).

It was a fairly big download and install. Still, that's why we buy big SSDs!

I took a harrier for a sightseeing tour last night around eastern Afghanistan. Stunning looking scenery, great job. I’d forgotten the start time for the mission, so on the way back to base, had sunset. Simply stunning in VR. Made the hairs on neck stand up. My thanks to all of the teams involved!

I use Voiceattack for that. Feels even more immersive to say it, rather than press a button

Best current CPU for DCS ( and a bit of MSFS)
Mr_sukebe replied to markturner1960's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For the CPU, 9800x3d. Post that, some low latency RAM. If you're going with the latest 870 chipset, then it'll probably automatically come with PCIE5 GPU and NVME slots. I'm guessing that you'll replace this within 2-3 years, so need to overdo the RAM, 64GB. -
Yes, I've experienced the same. Apparently it's a known issue, related to firmware. If you use the firmware manager (available via the options I believe) you can roll back. The current recommendation is to just the version ending in .30. Sorry, haven't done this myself as yet. Moza are aware and have stated that they'll have a fix out in the next update.

Recommended spec for dedicated server?
Mr_sukebe replied to Lace's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
IMO: - as already stated, no GPU, it won’t do anything but use power and add heat to the room - 16GB of Ram min. Last time I tested it, just the server and windows was using just over 8GB, which would mean the use of pagefile. Never good for perfomance. More to the point, RAM is dirt cheap. - 1TB SSD. The server still requires quite a lot of storage space for each terrain, and also gives room for liveries, mods etc - Pretty much any CPU in the last 5 years. I believe that the dedicated server is still single threaded, so no need for multiple cores. -
I've not seen a clear recommendation. As I understand it: - Moza is cheaper, comes from a large company, which in theory should result in a better warranty and support, but they are a Chinese brand, so that's potentially debatable - I did get the impression that the direct alternative might well have it's software at a better state of maturity. I've not compared the two, so can't comment on that There is the point that WW have shown that they have something on the way that has a lot more grunt and could be better. Virpil have said that it's on their radar, but no timescales. The "beast" is another hand made unit. The only other option is the Swiss unit, but that's nuts expensive.

DCS WW2 server with real time stats
Mr_sukebe replied to IIIJG52_Otto_'s topic in New Damage Model Bugs
I understand what you mean by stats. I'm simply stating that there are some like yourself who want the stats, and some like myself who believe that they're counter productive. We're both right, and there's room for both servers with and without stats to cater for each player type. Personally I'm not a fan and would now avoid a server that focuses on it's stats, but I understand why for others that might be the incentive. -
December Kola Map Update - Coming Soon!
Mr_sukebe replied to Marina's topic in Orbx Simulation Systems
Fish, if you're that unhappy, I believe that you can use the mission editor to remove everything in a specific area, with the exception of the ground textures. Give that a try. -
As already mentioned, I think that the key point is about immersion. As a user of a Moza AB9, a few scenarios spring to mind that a standard "spring" base cannot do: It uses "profiles", which can be set by aircraft, such that a multitude of options can be set The F16 uses Force Sensing. The Moza emulates that In say a helicopter, there is no re-centring, but it's also not a floppy mess. You move it, and it stays there, but only requires a little effort to move In say the Spitfire, the resistance ramps up with speed, to reflect wind resistance. As you slow to stall speed, the controls go mega light You can feel deployment of gear, going into VRS state etc So IMO, the fact that it will do some "rumble" when firing a gun (lots with say the cannon on the Ka50), it's a bit of a sideline benefit. The other benefits are far more beneficial. For ref, my previous base was a Virpil CM with a 20cm extension, which is a brilliant piece of kit. I wouldn't want to go back to a non-FFB now.
