Suggestion for an early introduction [Early access]
probad replied to falcon_120's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
you guys are already setting up the damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't cross. the problem starts right here. with your expectations. its also solvable. by you. why make devs take the heat for ideas you came up with? this is an injustice. i think this shouldnt even be a topic in the first place. -
sounds like youre pretty heavyhanded. the mig-15 is not a carefree aircraft, and you need to train your muscles into making inputs gradually. its particularly pitch sensitive, you can easily haul in too much and choke on alpha in addition to hitting really bad negative g's like you experienced. try some gunnery practice, you'll realize how much you're oscillating. instant action interception is a good starter. there is no input moderation scheduled to airspeed, youre in control of it all. this aircraft has zero problems accelerating up to a speed too fast for its own good and you will start losing control; running out of pitch trim is only the start. don't fly at 100% throttle all the time, they dont do that in reality either. ive actually never stalled the compressor but that sounds like what you're encountering, if the isolation valve is set correctly i think it should moderate the spooling rate which should mitigate it. maybe in your case its got more to do with too much alpha or negative g fuel starvation. as usual, attach tracks so we're not stuck guessing. a2a is what this thing was made for. once you get the hang of it the aircraft greases around quite nicely and the 37mm absolutely smites anything you can get in range of.

wouldnt structuring missions based on this be anachronistic though?
-
lmao this is the howmanyeth time you've said that? you'll buy them both see you next time
-
pretty bad taste
-
or this: if one patch isnt that good for you, just wait and do something else until the next patch. you're not gonna die, dcs isn't gonna die. video games shouldnt be a drug.
-
lmao why would i buy if i could just keep making accounts and cycle trials

i agree with this, the responsibility is there -- the ai is still owned by someone and so there will always be accountability. theres accountability here on all sides; accountability on the owner of the machine for employing it, and accountability on the opposing side for dealing with it. if you don't want to get shot by a robot then you better figure out how to not get shot by one whether it means using force or diplomacy. i don't see any issues at all.

when stat analysts decided what acceptable casualty rates are do you think that's any less impersonal than machine recognition? hot take: ethics is a triggerword used to disable critical thinking

it's just proxy warfare, we've already long been in it. soldiers are proxies for leaders, bullets are proxies for soldiers, we're just now at the point where proxies get proxies (missiles shooting missiles aka ucavs). ai will be tied up helping us manage our own proxies while making sense of the enemy proxy network for exploitation. the job of the pilot of the future is to direct the exploitation of the enemy network and to that end should be more of a hacker type than an airman. the tactical execution end will be almost completely taken care of by a unified land-air-sea drone complex, all you need are shepherds creatively directing the proverbial finger of god in all sorts of rude and disruptive manners. things won't really feel any different under the thumb of ai, we already live our lives controlled by numbers. just look at how doggedly people follow around sales numbers and other statistics, absolutely lmao

What about a restricted Open Alpha release before Beta?
probad replied to beppe_goodoldrebel's topic in Chit-Chat
"restricted open" you guys cant even be trusted with the english language -
lmao you think development is like some sort of video game where you can just drain resources away from one thing and dump it into another and it just automagically translated into higher output if this isnt proof video games rot your brain i dont know what is

ED, tell us where DCS is going (are we just customers, or friends?)
probad replied to dali's topic in DCS Core Wish List
played arma, skyrim, all these highly modded games, and i can say for sure that modders have some of the most overinflated egos it doesnt help that they get praised to high heaven because you have this fine self-compounding effect where the modders threaten to pull the plug when their feefees get hurt and so the sycophantic userbase is scared to death that their free handouts are gonna get taken away at the end of the day modded content is bad. they cause problems and they have low quality standards. even the most well-constructed mod does not come close to matching a professional production. i honestly could not give any less of a rat's wet fart if they ceased to exist. -
that rear pop gun wont hold off anyone hollywood lies will only cause you grief

i dont get it, you will wait years regardless so whats the difference? unhappy you were somehow unable to control the money leaking out from your wallet? how its it anyone else's fault you guys have zero self control? tell me.

even if you were excused for missing the straightfaced sarcasm because you're an english-as-second-or-third-language speaker tell me xilon, what does the url say?

but you cant make a 1:1 comparison between aircraft like that. one aircraft that may adroitly win a fight with a flat turn, another may lose in the turn but win easily with rolling scissors. how do you evaluate what is "easier"? here the concept of ease is dependent on which way of maneuvering is more familiar to you, not the aircraft. maybe you're not lazy, maybe you work very hard to avoid finding out that you've baked a ton of bad habits and assumptions into your concept of bfm

ias:mach relationship is not static. go up to 38000' and then tell me your ias @ 1.3 mach?

its too loud especially with hih and the aim-9 launch sound is cartoony as hell, its agonizing how blantantly dubbed-in it sounds
