  1. like bradboom said, watch the tanker you dont have director lights on western drogue tankers and its perfectly fine so dont get fixated on one solution besides the director lights dont offer nearly as fine feedback as the natural sight picture around you
  2. there were experimental vtol mig-23 and vtol su-24 versions too
  3. you gotta be kidding me cuz we have absolute none of the migs used in vietnam mig-17 = nope mig-19s = who knows when mig-21f-13 = don't tell me 'bis is close enough' if you think you can just slap any barrel shaped mig into vietnam and call it a day do you really even know anything about vietnam and dont get me started about the f-4e
  4. well its just a different aircraft with different input response characteristics. chief among them its a relaxed stability design and even though it settles for 1g flight, it's gonna be more ready to depart from that state than an inherently stable design like the a-10. you may not have learned to apply counterinput flying the a-10 since inherent stability 'automatically' applies it and that's why you're developing pio in the hornet.
  5. youre not lined up with the basket if it keeps going under you lmao remember that you'll gain altitude when increasing power, so when lining up for the basket you want to be below it a little so that you float up and into it as you add power
  6. you guys think this stuff is as simple as a drag and drop operation big lmaoski
  7. inb4 you only have one engine lit because you tried to turn them both on at the same time
  8. why dont you just use the autostart cheats if you have no interest in learning the procedure
  9. hahaha okay unfairness and cheating is always a part of winning, but it would be nice if we can only cheat in the same ways people cheat in real life.
  10. you should come to my blog to hear my opinions on spamming solicitations across the forum
  11. as someone who flies red more often than not, i find the challenge of imbalance refreshing and meaningful
  12. hunh? there were no teens series before the f-14. in many ways the f-14 is something of a 3++ gen aircraft.
  13. catering to quitters eventually makes everyone quit they burn out the patient teachers and repel the invested it works great when your business plan is to keep duping quitters year after year, but it's not a plan for longevity. if simulations were a suitable genre for this sort of business, they wouldn't have died out in the first place.
  14. how can fa-18 sustain higher aoa when it is a much draggier and lower twr design? better authority at higher aoa is not to be conflated with the ability to maintain high aoa
  15. you mean the one that was pretty darn good at telling people what they wanted to hear? lmao okay
  16. looking at the structure of msfs2020, i think it doesnt really lend itself well to combat its seamless but nevertheless locally instanced, nothing loads outside of your bubble -- that completely breaks any bvr environment
  17. i like my software as products, not services.
  18. i dunno, i think theres actually plenty of money to go around. people who cry about having no money and dcs modules costing too much still drop money on some expensive silicon. and there's this stupid effect where expensive stuff only makes people want to buy it more. lets be honest here there are a bunch of people in dcs because of the perceived 'prestige' that accompanies the words fidelity and authenticity. while i don't agree with this motivation, it's a real market force. a certain chris roberts knows this well. that said, if nick really wants to do it as a labor of love and is happy enough to just more or less break even, more power to him. it's just a damn shame people only know how to look gift horses in the mouth these days. also, msfs is absolutely not a competitor to dcs. dcs is unique in its focus and enjoys an oblique relationship to msfs to which the latter has only aroused more interest and enthusiasm in dcs. while these 'hype riders' enthused by the latest big thing are in general a transient market, the core market of airplane freaks who were here from the start are already predisposed to buy up everything -- for this segment, there is no competition, only collection.
  19. just crank up the price already and stop these pyrrhic discounts its already an expensive hobby because of the equipment requirements, dont pretend somehow lowering the software costs will make up for it. my normal friends refuse play this game because its simply too much commitment for the little interest they do have, bless their souls. you'll never capture them as a market unless you decided to get out of the simulation business which is literally why sims died as a genre the first time around honestly its a miracle you can even find talent like yoyo in the first place because here in the states if you're good enough to write dcs modules you'd be doing work in a far more lucrative sector
  20. but artificial lighting's flicker is whats creating the stroboscopic effect, not your eyes and brain your model aircraft props wont wagonwheel when you take them out under the sun
  21. so much intolerance over the topic of tolerance i love it buzzles isnt wrong, eagle dynamics doesn't 'forget' stuff but expect to keep on waiting
  22. blah blooh blah muh aerodynamic forces
  23. of course, brilliant, mess with the guys that hold your family hostage what could go wrong
  24. nobodys gonna stop you from using ap of course but the thing is the only person you're really hurting is yourself fine control of the aircraft is a skill that materially benefits combat, landings, you name it. if you never learn to control your aircraft, you will find yourself frustrated by the tyrannical elitism of reality at every turn, and you will bind yourself to the chains of your handicap aids. there is only one route to liberation and that is to conquer your weakness
