BRAVO - so good to hear Wonder if this was a planned progression or listening to the community. Either way, Brill! I'll fly single player to learn the ropes then razzle dazzle my multi-player bretheren once I've mastered everything, which like all of you will be in.....two weeks

That sounds good. The latch really does mess with other keysettings in my Logi software EDIT: Actually, holding the laser on NOT latched messes with 50% of my inputs. Some work, some are frozen out! Thankfully slew works!

I haven't the need yet, but If and when I want this feature it'll certianly be a macro in my joystick settings
-
For me, as a "gamer - pilot" - it's not the Waypoint functions mentioned above thats the problem, it's the TARGET syntax (which is sort of the same). By having to go through various button presses, and then different buttons depending on the target number it's VERY hard to program a work-around macro. If you could delete targets from a list that would be once thing to make things simpler to program. Maybe once the FCR comes out with hopefully shoot lists that will solve this issue. Sorry for the little de-thread.....

reported George is not a very good pilot - is it just me?
MrReynolds replied to CybrSlydr's topic in Bugs and Problems
I've got to say, coming from the Gazelle where I loved jumping to the co-pilot seat and "autohovering", that George is a delight! I really want to fly and fight single player - love the challenge - so was hoping to swap between front and back quick and easy. Auto hover, target and fire. George is a treat as I'm using him like above. Fly and hover into position with a good orientation to a target area, and then get him to tweak height and the like whilst I'm sorting targets. Almost doesn't seem like cheating. I haven't used him for main navigation, so wouldn't know about his capability to handle multiple commands and inputs though -
Just an idea. Since we have to lase for quite a while, can we possibly please implement a keybaord / joystick cheat for latching the laser on and off. I have programmed this in my joystick software profile, but when the button is constantly latched and depressed it stops other keypresses from working. So the work around brings ................... more problems........ I know there are other joystick workarounds that have been implemented within the wider sim - hoping one day we can get this too. * On the plus side, slewing works when lasing!

Would it be possible for when you are tweaking controller settings as the CPG that the bindings are set to CPG instead of pilot as default? Totally minor, but it's a pain when constantly changing and tweaking that you need to remember to pop up and change from pilot to CPG. On a side note - it's a shame you can't have an option to mirror key presses for both. For example, setting up the cougar MFDs means you need to code for both seats, instead of the one. As I said, totally minor, but still an "Even Better If". Thanks.

TL:WR - Do you have to be within laser range limits to store a target with the TADS? Probably answering my own question here - - - Flying towards a hot zone. Highish altitude as I'm out of range of the enemy. I can easilly spot different targets and want to store them as individual target points so that when I go contour hugging or behind a building they're already....stored. Slave, fire, pop up and lase. Approaching the zone, when I lase it says soemthing like 9999 range, as I'm say 15+ miles out and clearly out of Hellfire range. I CAN store the target and it saves, but it comes up WAY short of where I'm looking when I slave to the stored point. Possibly, as I'm coming from the Hornet, but am I right in thinking the store NEEDS the laser range to go with GPS coordinates in order to get a good spot? It works fine once I'm closer and down low, but now I have to scuttle about looking and storing whilst in range of APC missiles, SAMs and the like. The other thing could be a possible laser mix up with first and last laser spot? So, what do you think? 1) You need to get a valid laser range in order to STORE a point 1b) The laser range is too short for this (bug or real life) so therefore can't store an accurate point 3) It's a mix up with first and last laser spots 4) Just get down and dirty with the rest of us and dodge some missiles!! Always fun getting to know the ins and outs of a new bird isn't it ! Thanks for any help and support, MrR.

I think I'm making it more complex than people are reading. I want to, after the first hit, to SNAP to another already selected target, instead of moving the cursor.......... If there are 2 close targets, yeah.....you can move the cursor. How about something a little bit off? Anyway, time to fly in 5,4,3,2,........................................

Thanks dude, really appreciate the reply on what must be a rather..... busy day lol....... Almost didn't post as I thought it would be shot down as a silly idea! IS there a "magic button", or will it need to be a magic macro on my stream deck using "coordx2 then different left buttons" depending on the stage of the sequence?
-
Regarding a possible ripple fire. 10 second flight time (for example) Rifle, wait 6 seconds, rifle again. First Hellfire hits the target, so I then jump to the NEXT target in my list and lase THIS new point. Obviously there will be some tinkering once released with timings, angles of view for the missile etc....... With the FA18 it's a simple case of pressing an MFD button (programmed in the joystick software) to go up in the markpoint list and then I can lase. A simple Macro if I wanted to program it. Apart from using the MFD buttons of coord (x2) and then actually pressing the corresponding target button (left 3 for example) is there a button on the HOTAS or something that increments the NEXT target stored? There are shoot lists for the radar missiles in the future I guess, but I'm just letting my imagination run here. Not even taken off yet!!! TIA.

Gotta say this is the only way I intend to fly. I've had enough hours in Longbow, the enemy engaged series, the ka50 and for the last year, in prep for this baby the gazelle. Oh the luxury of being able to mark targets and flipping between them. I've loved the little bird - nothing like prepping for something harder than it actually is lol. Now - will we be able to hot swap seats like in the gazelle? That's my worry....

But it is ready isn't it? It's gone GOLD !! Just playing with ya - keep up the GREAT work

Zooming in on a portion of the cockpit?
MrReynolds replied to Floyd1212's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Quick (rubbish) unannotated video. Text from video. 1) Setup your view as you want it to be saved as. You may need a combination of TrackIR and manual movement. Make sure TrackIR is off once happy! 2) Press (Number Pad 0) & NP number to quickly snap to the current saved view. This is now stored by DCS. 3) Right Alt + NPzero saves the NEW number view. ************************************************************** My Macro for the joystick. Right control & NPzero to go to snap views and then 6 for my saved view. Delays of 100ms, but obviously that's your choice. I either press it again to go to free view, or I have another macro for Centre TrackIR + view reset Rctrl&NP+ , NP5 , NPenter , NP0. This simply gives me a total cleared view. Hope this helps. -
Zooming in on a portion of the cockpit?
MrReynolds replied to Floyd1212's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
EDIT: Bother, didn't really read the post's message!!!! *** Snap views. They're AWESOME. Move the screen to be TOTALLY zoomed in to an MFD or "whatever" and save it as a snap number. Program a macro to 1) activate the snap and then toggle 2) to go back to cockpit view, centre AND reset zoom. If interested I'll expand on this after work later -
Avoiding "carrier talk". ...................but for me, that's the BIGGY! For me, why buy the Viper? The triple rack of -65s I'm jealous of!
-
Thanks dude - missed this answer! I love all the clickability for systems, weapons and the like - just not interested in the complete cold start up and not going to sit through an auto start. Feels like a time waste penalty when I just want to hit the taxi-way. Respect your decision of course! Keep up the great work on the missions
-
Hey all. Going to be unpopular, but.....I don't cold start. Just don't Zero vis carrier landings? Check. AAR - Yarp. *** Does this campaign come with a warm start option or are they all cold? *** If I were to be able to edit the mission (which I'm sure I won't be due to protection issues) are the flags zone or time dependant? TIA, and keep up the great work.

Without any reading, I couldn't jettison the other day until I went into A-G mode. A-A (which I was in) = a no no. A-G = pop pop & stores gone.

Hey all. I'm thinking Gazelle. I fly in the right seat. Navigate in the right seat then when I get into a combat situation, I get down low, auto hover and jump to the left seat. Now I'm in combat mode. Using the sights etc, but CAN ALSO FLY and move about when needed. It's great. With the Apache it should be simpler as there are better systems for targetting and setting up mark points from the pilot seat (HMD etc). However, I would still like to, at any point "duck and cover" - jump into front seat and carefully use those sights for targetting, setting up shoot lists etc. I don't want to rely on an AI to select targets, I want the challenge to find them myself. I don't fly the Hind, but I can easilly target and fly with the A10 and Hornet. Obviously not being so low it will be way simpler than down low in the Apache. If I can hot swap in the Gazelle, I promise you I'll be able to do it in the Apache. And yes - the AH is for me
-
I guess I've been "spoiled" by the Gazelle and the Enemy Engaged series - - - I really do want to be able to hot swap between seats like in those cases. I do not want to fly WITH other pilots in MP. That's my choice and I know many many cherish the possibility of being in the same cab as another. Using an AI buddy for "auto" targetting is not what I'm after, but I've been away from DCS for a bit and have a feeling I've banged this bad boy on the head previously in this thread so better shut my trap!! I'm not liking the idea of being limited to SP in the Apache - such is life I guess
-
I'll get slammed for this, but I am happy knowing it's BETA and getting it now. Bugs and all. Yes - It's "obviously" the right decision from various learning opportunities, but even just getting my hands on the key commands to program my joystick logic would be great. Anyhoo - roll on "two weeks"
