  1. HMD Alignment has nothing to do with how the HMD is positioned to your eye in the cockpit, it has to do with how Datalink and Targeting information is aligned. So, if you fail to properly align the HMD, on the ground or in flight, your Datalink tracks and Target designations will be off by a good bit. Spudknocker has a nice little tutorial on this on YT.
  2. Some more TWS weirdness: When TWS Undesig-pressing through and firing on four TWS tracks, the radar suddenly locks something (my wingman's missile??) behind the jet...screwing up the AUTO mode big time for the previous 120C launches. TWS Ghost Track.trk
  3. This is true. I've tested myself.
  4. Haven't read the whole thread here, but if you are speaking of the TDC drift whilst using the HMD... did you align the HMD? An unaligned HMD will present drift and other anomalies like it.
  5. Good info. I still stand by my original comment, though: I'll take the most advanced Legacy Hornet in DCS over the Super almost any day.
  6. The Super Hornet is a completely different airplane... designed to, in the words of Nick Pirnia (civilian Naval Aviation guru), "look like a Hornet" in order to get it past Congress. It is also slower, more draggy, less maneuverable in some areas such as roll rate, and uglier. It does have way more gas, a better radar, and more sophisticated FCS... But for DCS, give me the most advanced Legacy's over Super almost any day.
  7. I've been flying the Hornet since day one and don't remember that either. Additionally, I don't know why you would want the gun funnel when you have a TD Box and Pipper?
  8. No idea... but in the Hornet, a missile that was fired a minute or more ago will often still show up on the radar in TWS. Not sure if this is a problem in the Viper too?
  9. I may be doing it "wrong", but I get a nice pirouette by full stick aft and full rudder, not full stick left or right. At the right airspeed, she pirouettes quite nicely with full aft stick and rudder deflection without ever triggering spin mode.
  10. Hmmm... have a link for that Wags-acknowledgment? I've not yet come across it.
  11. Hear Hear! Good post.
  12. Believe me, that is a feature I'd love to have... but what documentation or evidence is there that we should be able to do this in the Hornet? It makes logical sense that the MC on the Hornet could be able to point the dish at the point in space that the datalink is displaying that the pilot wants to highlight, but then there are a few things that make perfect sense to me that the Hornet, apparently, doesn't have (i.e. - why doesn't NCTR print on the ATTK RDR?)
  13. Hey, Fellas. I've been meaning to post for a long time, but just couldn't find the time to get track files. Here's the scenario: Myself and AI wingmen going up (BVR) against a flight of AI Jeff's. When the Jeff's are in range, I select a L & S... it very quickly becomes apparent that the L&S starts switching WILDLY between the other three jets randomly. So, after firing on the first and then hitting Undesig. in order to step to the #2 priority target, the L&S has already jumped around from the different aircraft so that it is nearly impossible to systematically fire at the four different jets using the TWS step feature. My radar settings are as follows: TWS, 32 frames, PRF High, AUTO TWS Lock Switching.trk
  14. Yes, the "weapons" volume knob on the left rear panel near the Oxygen system.
  15. I own both. I find the Hornet's UFC to be way more user friendly than the Viper's ICP. I also find the Hornet's HUD to be more user friendly as well... the Viper's HUD displays too much info for me... The Hornet's HUD: just right. I also prefer the larger DDI's in the Hornet. I think the Viper has a slightly more intuitive HOTAS in some ways... though I've cheated in the Hornet and mapped things to my HOTAS such as radar range, azimuth, mode, etc. so I can actually do more with my HOTAS in the Hornet than the Viper. The Viper cockpit feels like an older airplane that has received a lot of updates (new MFD's, ICP, etc...a bit Frankenstein-y) whereas the Hornet feels a bit more integrated in it's pit tech because it is closer to the original design.
  16. Indeed... though the strangest behavior I've observed with this bug (I need to provide a track of course) is when my wingmen, in formation 1 mile abreast of me in spread, fire and I pick up their missiles WAAAYYY off boresight when I'm stepping through TWS targets dead off of my nose.
  17. Indeed. That was silly and certainly needless on my part for sure. Sorry about that.
  18. Are you kidding? Turbulence has been an option in DCS under the weather tab for years now... I always crank it up to get that more realistic air-feel.
  19. Nah... you'll get it.
  20. Absolutely. Dogfighting (especially in real life, but in this sim too) is a VERY perishable skill. I had a basement remodel happening that had my cockpit all locked up for about 3 months where I didn't play at all. When I got back into it, I thought: "What the HECK did ED do to "my" flight model!?!" Then, after a couple of hours of aggressive GUNZO, I got 'it' all back. Practice, practice, practice.... And do all of your practice guns only if you want to accelerate your skill sharpening.
